“Beautifully interesting,” I replied. “Or interestingly beautiful … Or maybe a bit of both. I made it up … It’s something that I do.” I reached out and fixed a few stray strands of hair until the image was perfect. I smiled proudly and took a small step back, like a painter examining his finished work of art. “You should see yourself right now. I think you would be quite pleased.” For some reason, the gold and the tone of her skin all made me think of Menekhet, and that caused me to smile as well.
Outside the storm was starting to die down and I was so very happy for the fact, except for the fact it most likely meant we would be parting ways soon, and then I remembered. “Oh! We need to find you a new pair of slippers!”

I had to chuckle at his explaination, watching his hand as he fixed my hair. I glanced outside with him before he looked back to me, reminding me I was here looking for slippers after all. I gasped a little and covered my mouth as I remembered. "Oh yes." I giggled. "Though I have one more down to try on." I reached up and took the hat off my head and handed it back to him for a moment. "If you'll excuse me I have one last gown." I turned and headed back to the curtain, changing quickly into the last one. I was very pleased with this last one and hoped I'd have an occasion to wear it, especially if I would have the chance to dance in it as well. I stepped out excitedly and looked to Necthan. "Oh goodness I just love it." I said spinning, the gown's skirt coming up in a twirl as it showed off my legs. I looked at him again and beamed. "What do you think?"

I nodded and let her go off and try on one more. While she left I found myself drawn to the window, looking at the small breaks in the clouds and secretly hoping for a rainbow.
I turned around as she was coming out in a lovely brown number with a huge slit. Of course I would have normally said it wasn’t needed, but her legs were something to look at, and I didn’t even have to read her to see that she adored it. And the fact that she loved it so much caused me to love it as well. “I think we should find a dance for you to show off at, don’t you?” I smiled and said. “But we can’t dance without slippers,” giving her a wink.

I turned to look at Necthan and grinned. "Oh that would be perfect." I said with a hopeful smile then went toward him and without thought leaned in and kissed his cheek. I turned around once more and headed to the changing area with the three gowns and handed them off to the attendant to ring up. When I was back in my usual clothing I came out from behind the curtain to look at him, only now really thinking about the fact that I had kissed him.
"Slippers then." I said softly as I looked at him, a blush on my cheeks.

She smiled at me and then the next thing I knew I found her lips on my cheek. I blinked and lifted my hand to the place where her lips touched my skin and I felt warm all over. I little smile then came back over my face.
“Slippers,” I told her with a wink, ready to follow her.

"Slippers." I echoed softly again and arranged to have my gowns paid for and sent to my waiting carriage and footmen then turned to Necthan and went toward him. Slowly my arm linked around his without thought, feeling the warmth of him as he did.
"I believe the slipper shoppe is down the street a little ways." I suggested as I held his arm and looked at him with a coy smile.

I paid for my hats and then turned to Lola. “You don’t mind if I have them sent with you. I can pick them up at the carriage then,” I explained. “And I think the rain’s cleared up so we should be all clear.”

"Of course, not a problem at all." I replied with a gentle smile. After which we departed the store and made our way onto the street, my body eager to be next to his as we walked.
"Where are you from Necthan?" I asked curiously, taking the time to get to know my shopping companion.

I chuckled and responded. “Well that is a complicated question. My father was D’Angeline and my mother was Alban. I was raised in Alba for a while, brought here, studied in Hellas, took some time to travel to Menekhet, returned to Alba and now I’m here once more... But I think that no matter what I shall always be Alban at heart. It might be better to say that I’m a man of the straits, that’s where I was born.” It was a long answer, probably longer then she wanted to hear. It was then that my eyes looked up and saw a rainbow. “Hey, take a look.”

I held his arm a little tighter as we walked, interested in the story of his lineage as he spoke. Gods he was handsome and I felt I could get lost in the darkness of his eyes, he reminded me of a man I had known at court in Aragonia, a Count who had been much older then I but had been sweet. I had always hoped my father would see fit to betrothe me to the kind man but unfortunately the Count died some years before I was of marriagable age.
When Necthan pointed out the rainbow I looked out and grinned with a little inhaled breath. "Dios, it's beautiful." I said softly as I looked back to the man I was holding onto.

I was feeling very comfortable there, my arm in hers and the both of us looking at utter beauty. In the north lands they say that a rainbow connects our world with the realm of the gods. The Yeshuites speak of the first rainbow as being a sign that the world will never flood again. To me I saw a sign that today was going to be a good day. I saw it in all the colors bent over the earth that caused one to see the left and right and to fill it with all of ones hopes and desires and even wishes. I wished that the buildings would crumble away and I could see the bow as it was meant to be seen. I then looked at the girl with me and smiled. “Make a wish,” I whispered to her, resting my cheek on her head but for a moment.

He spoke into my ear and I felt my breath quicken, my eyes close as his words washed over me sensually. "I wish you would kiss me." I exhaled the words without thought hoping to the gods that I hadn't just said that out loud instead of in my head which is what I was actually thinking. I pulled back then and looked at him, a blush on my cheeks at the embarrassment.
"Forgive me." I whispered. "I shouldn't have said that."

She hadn’t meant to say that out loud I could tell. But I think that made it sweeter to me, the unmentioned desire. It had a wonderful dramatic element to it! “You know, your highness, my wish didn’t come true … it would be a tragedy if yours didn’t as well.” I then turned around to face her, placing a hand on her cheek and leaned in. My lips brushed hers and I gave her a tender kiss, just barely chaste. “Never apologize for a wish, your highness. It’s bad form.”

My heart literally stopped as his lips touched mine and I melted into him like butter on a warm day and I could have begged for more before he parted lips with me.
"Thank you." I breathed gently, savouring the sweet kindness of a man that didn't treat me the way Gratien did. But even as I thanked him I blushed deeply, unable to stop the smile that was growing on my lips.

“You’re welcome,” I replied back, smiling at her and a little taken away. A woman’s lips were such wonderful things and hers had such a wonderful shape to them. much like the rest of her. “Now...” I began composing myself. “Where’s this shop?”
My eyes flicked back and forth but ultimately back to her.

For a moment I just looked at him, stared at him really before I remembered thought about what he had said. "What did you wish for?" I asked.

I had located the shop myself right after I asked and smiled. But then she asked me a question and I turned back to look at her, offering her my hand again. “I wished … I wished for all the buildings here to disappear and for this to be one grand meadow, golden hued in the light of after-rain. And then we could view the rainbow in all of its glory, from one end of its prismatic arc onto the other. And we would bask it the beauty until it filled up our hearts and we smiled irrepressibly.” I took a breath and looked up again as the hues began fading away and I gave Lola’s hand the faintest squeeze, leading her to the shop.

His words made my heart ache and I followed him, my hand in his wishing that he hadn't been so sweet. "Eres tan hermosa" I whispered softly, more to myself doubting that he would hear me... Dios I hope he didn't hear me.
When we entered into the shoppe I looked around for slippers that I might like even though my mind was on Necthan and what he had said as well as the way he had kissed me.
"These look nice," I said trying to commit to the idea. "And they're the right size, I think I'll take them."

She whispered something to herself but I wasn’t really listening. I could make out it was Aragonia, but my skills in that were rusty. My mind was still thinking about my wish, thinking to myself how badly I desired a country home. Maybe I’d talk to father about it … No, that was the last thing that I wanted right now.
We went inside. I had no need for shoes so I was happy to follow her along. She spotted a pair that she liked and I smiled. “I think they’ll work just fine. I can help you put them on once you’ve purchased.” I let my hand lightly fall on her shoulder before she went to pay.

I turned to Necthan and smiled though not as brightly as I had before, but smiled never the less and nodded wordlessly as I picked out two more of different colours then turned and paid, waiting for them as they placed the slippers in a bag.
"Alright, I think I have everything." I said, looking to Necthan and waited for what ever may come next.

I nodded and returned her smile. “I think you should put one pair on, that way you have something comfortable for the walk back to the carriage.” I wondered to myself where she lived, not for any reasons in particular other than curiosity. “Do you stay at the palace?”

Smiling I nodded and slipped of the broken ones I was wearing and held out a pink pair to replace them. "Will you put them on for me?" I asked softly, some part of me desperate for a reason to have him touch me again.

I took her broken shoes and put them in the box the pink ones had been in. She could throw them away at a convenient spot. “It would be an honor, Your Highness,” I told her, taking the shoes and kneeling down. I set one shoe down and lifted her first leg, one hand caressing her calf and the other slipping on the shoe. There was something about it, serving royalty, that gave me a little rush of excitement. I moved my hand slowly down her leg and let it fall before repeating with the other. Once they were on I slowly stood up and then bowed lightly to her. “May I have the pleasure of escorting you to your carriage?” I purred, my hypnotic voice lighter than normal.

I sat in a chair and put my feet out as one by one he side my slippers on, his hand caressing my calves as he did which sent a wave of shivers to stand each hair on my body on end until both feet were clad once more. I smiled gently to Necthan then stood and nodded as I came to stand beside him. Slowly I slipped my hand around his arm again, enjoying the closeness and knowing that soon we would have to part. "Thank you Necthan, I would appreciate that greatly."

The princess rose and slipped her arm in mine once more and I pulled it a little closer to myself. We then left the shop and started walking back down the street towards her carriage. “Lola, my princess … I … I sense that you could use some company, companionship.” It was true for I saw that missing part there, a hole. “You can write to me. I live in south borough. And, perhaps we can meet again and share a meal or the like. You’re intruiging, my princess.”

I smiled fondly to him as he spoke, my body leaning into his as I closed my eyes briefly and looked down before collecting myself and looking up at him through my lashes. "I will write you," I said gently. "I would like that very much.... and... I find you intruiging as well." I whispered.

I leaned in a little as well, and a passerby might believe that I was about to kiss her, however the thought was not on my mind at the moment, though maybe they natural male temptation pushed my body into that position. For it had to be agreed that she was beautiful in that adorable sort of way. The way that prompted any man to shower her with tender affections.
“I look forward to it,” I whispered to her.

I nodded gently, smiling a little as I did. "Well..." I said softly. "I should be getting home, my house hold is expecting me." He leaned into me but I didn't want to take it as a sign. After all I couldn't have any sort of relationship with any one even if it were brief, for if my husband found out he would surely kill that man.
