The next day dawned clear and beautiful, and even though I awoke in a strange bed, I felt comfortable and happy. I got dressed and spent some time on my hair, which was a bit dry from all the traveling. When I was satisfied that I looked presentable, I went off to find my brother and take him up on a meal in the City.
It was my first time out in the City and the restaurant that Ghislain brought me to was beautiful. I was accustomed to beautiful things, but this was a new experience and I was very excited for it, despite that it was a bit of an early lunch.
We were seated and given menus and I smiled at Ghislain as we were offered a glass of a light fruity wine, which I accepted.
"Thank you so much for taking me out," I said, glancing down at the menu and trying to figure out what I was in the mood for.

I gave the waiter a light smile and a nod of approval before turning to Amelie whereupon the smile became even wider. “It’s my pleasure Amie... I really hope you enjoy this place,” I said to her before glancing at the menu. They had a huge selection and I myself was a little overwhelmed with the choices. “So what are some of your immediate plans for the city?”

"I don't really have any," I admitted, brushing my hair back and running one finger down the menu, perusing the salads. "I came to see you and Sophie, beyond that, I hadn't any plans. I'd love to see all of the City though, I've heard stories about the beauty of the Temples and Palace..." and the Night Court, though I kept that to myself.

"Well I'm sure you'll get bored with us eventually. I would recommend though that you ask Sophie to take you shopping. I think you two would enjoy that a lot, and I can show you around the palace," I said while my eyes selected my first course.

"That sounds lovely," I said, finally choosing a Kritian salad that had ingredients that I had never heard of. I felt daring when the server came over and I gave my order, smiling at Ghislain as I did so.
Afterward, I made a note to ask Sophie to take me shopping when she had time. "The Palace must be amazing," I said, wondering when my brother would have time to take me on a tour. "I hear the gardens are amazing and that you can always find fun in the Hall of Games."

I ordered I much more conservative salad and told the waiter we’d be ready with our main course orders soon. He nodded and left us be once more.
“It is,” I responded. “And yes the gardens are exceptionally beautiful. I don’t frequent the Hall of Games much but I think I can make an exception for you,” I told her, giving my little sister a wink.

"I don't want to make you do anything you don't wish to," I protested. "We can always do other things, I'm sure there are so many things to do in the City." I looked around curiously, feeling a bit provincial in my dress and already mentally making notes on what the fashions were here so that I could get some proper clothing.
"What do you like to do, Ghislain?" I asked him, wanting nothing more than to know everything about my older brother.

I laughed. "Oh you shouldn't have asked, I'm really quite boring you know, stuck in my books, my riding. I wish I could tell you that I was at the pinnacle of the social circle, but I'm a bit of a hermit to be honest." I looked down, my pride hurt at shattering what I was sure was a shinning image of myself in her mind.

"Oh, riding, I love riding," I said with a smile. I had ridden halfway here, rather than sit idly in the carriage. "I can't say books are my favorite thing, but I have read some interesting ones in my time. You'll have to tell me which ones you think I'd like." Our salads came and for a moment my attention was diverted.
"Oh, this is really good," I said, enjoying the new flavors. "How is yours?"

I tasted the salad and found it too my liking. “Quite delicious.” I then picked up the conversation. “Well then we shall have to go riding as well. And don’t worry I still want to take you to the palace. Maybe you can show me a thing or two in the hall of games.” I managed to smile again, hopeful now that she would be content with the man I was.

"It's a date," I said with a smile. "We'll go to the Palace and have a look around, and then we'll go riding. I hear the woods of L'Agnace are a beautiful place to ride, though I hesitate to believe that any place can match Azzalle for beauty."
I ate a few more bites before smiling again at my brother.
"Besides showing me the sights, you can introduce me to some people as well, perhaps? I'd like to make some friends in the CIty, so you and Sophie don't have to feel as if you need to entertain me all the time."

"It sounds perfect to me!" I commented. After a few more bites of my salad I then responded to her next request. "I'll do the best that I can. I think that there is a fete coming up. Sophie mentioned it to me. We should certainly go to that. And perhaps we can find many of the royalty to meet. I know I could be doing better at that myself. You could host a small party of your own. Sophie and I can get you a who's who list."

"Oh, a party!" I exclaimed, my stomach fluttering with nerves. Going to a party sounded fun enough, but having one sounded even more exciting. Still, first things first, I'd meet plenty of people at the upcoming party. "I should love to attend the fete, and to host one as well." Our family had parties in Azzalle but it was always the same old nobles and people trying to curry favor with the Trevalion name, and I was excited at the prospect of new people.

"Well we should speak with Sophie and and see about hosting a little something. Or rather a big something. I'm certain that we can get quite a crowd." I realised it meant the house being filled with rambunctiousness but I supposed that was normal, even if I was never given to such myself at that age.

"That would be lovely," I said, already planning the colors and wondering if I could afford a dress from Eglantine. "And can we have music and maybe tumblers?" I wasn't sure what that would cost, but I loved the idea. I dove into my salad with more gusto now that I had something exciting to occupy my mind. I did so love planning things, not just parties but really anything where I could make lists and things of that nature. "And you'll dance with me, the first dance, promise?"

I laughed and I loved how excited she was. That was my Amelie and my heart was warmed and I couldn't say no. "You have my word, sister." I then grinned and finished my salad. "Well let you be in charge of the whole thing and we'll make sure you have the prettiest dress." I wanted to make a joke about all the men falling in love at the sight of her but the protective brother in me would not allow it.

"I simply cannot wait," I said, taking another bite of my salad and a sip of wine. "It will be the talk of the City, because I think the Trevalions should throw the best parties, don't you?" I grinned, not knowing if Ghislain or Sophie ever did throw parties, but at least that was something I had experience with. "You'll have to help me with the guest list, however, I don't know a soul in the City."

“We should indeed. And I have every confidence you will be celebrated for them. And yes I can work with Sophie on providing a guest list for you. And, it is also customary to contract some adepts as well.” While I wasn’t quite ready to accept the idea of my little sister going to the Night Court on her own, I did want any fete that she hosted to be one worth remembering.
The waiter then returned and asked what we wanted for the next course. I asked for some bread and butter and chicken.

Absently I ordered what he was having, my mind still focused on the party.
"Adepts?" I grinned at that, thinking about everything I knew about the Night Court. Of course we would have Eglantines, they were the best entertainers, but what about the other houses? Orchis, for laughter, perhaps...
I'd met a few adepts in my time, but never lain with one, so I was curious. I didn't know if Ghislain would want to talk about it however, so I tried to think of something else we could discuss.
"So... do you have any particular friends you'd like to invite?" It was my way of asking if he was seeing anyone, without outright asking.

The waiter nodded and left and my attention turned fully on Amelie. I could see she wanted to speak more on the adepts and I would let her when she was ready. I supposed that perhaps that was my ... somewhat less pleasant duties as an older brother.
Her next question struck me as odd because I knew she was hinting. "No, no one in particular. And you need not seek out a matchmaker for me." I grinned, taking it with good humor, and sipped my drink lightly.

I laughed at that, shaking my head. "No, no, I will leave that to wiser heads than mine! I only hope that when the time comes for a husband to be chosen for me, he is kind and does not take me too far from home." As a Princess, I knew it wasn't likely that I would get to choose my own husband, but I could at least hope for the best.

I smiled and simply told her, "That is truly what I want as well for you, sister."
The bread and butter arrived and was set before us. I started to butter a slice and then asked her. "Have you met Sophie's bodygaurd yet?"
