I was restless. The summer heat was getting to me, and Synnove was teething and would not stop weeping. So it was with a bit of relief that I left her at home and took a long walk about the city, stopping at the fountain. The spray was refreshing, and I sat down on a nearby bench.

Once again I was sent on an errand, this time it was because the cook was sick and instead of sending the kitchen help to get food for the day they sent me so that they could be preparing things at the estate. There wasn't much to pick up, mostly non perishable supplies; we were out of flour and sugar. I had went to the market and picked up what I needed then headed home on foot with two large paper bags of convectionary ingredients in each arm.
Since the days were warming even more from the Spring I decided that I would walk by the fountain in the middle of the square and enjoy the sight of couples strolling along the streets before heading home. But when I got there I had been so focused on staring at the beautifyl waters and day dreaming about a life of luxury that I didn't notice the nobleman headed in my direction. He bumped into me and I dropped my bag of flour to the ground.
"Watch it street urchin!" He shouted with disgust then went on his way, hurrying off to Elua knows where; what ever noblemen do with their time. Cursing under my breath for the broken bag that was now spilling it's contents onto the cobble stones I felt embarassment heat my cheeks as I lowered myself with careful practice to my knees and began to clean up what I could even though I knew I'd have to go back and buy more on my own coin or suffer the wrath of my mistress.

I saw the whole thing: the ditzy servant girl, the clumsy nobleman, the bag of flour strewn about the cobblestones. Most interesting was the girl's face; she looked embarrassed, but not distraught. It was a look I'd seen on the face of many a Valerian, but this girl was not an adept. It was...interesting. Standing, I walked over to her.
"Poor dear," I said, tut-tutting. "All that flour gone to waste. What will your patron say?"

I looked up at the pressence of a blond and the moment she spoke her demeanor spoke volumes as to what sort of person she was like. Right off she reminded me of the Comtesse and I felt a lump of fear in my throat as to what might happen next.
"Well... yes." I said as my gaze held hers for a moment. "My mistress will not be happy at all, I will... I will have to buy another on my centime."

I frowned in dismay, though inwardly I was just getting started amusing myself. "That would be a shame," I said. "Were you saving money for something?"
