Title: Duca Di Belafonte
Age: 26
Race (Lineage Origin): Caerdicci (Serenissiman)/D’Angeline (Azzalese)
Gender: Male
Height: 6'0”
Home Province/Country: La Serenissima.
Played by:Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge.
PC Relative: His sister, Cascata Stregazza.
Appearance:
Gillermo would have probably been taken into Dahlia house, had he been a fosterling as a child. Thick brown hair covers his head and falls off of it in rippling cascade onto his shoulders. A typical example of Caerdiccian beauty, Guillermo’s dark blue eyes are completed by strong eyebrows which give him the appearance of a piercing gaze. Standing at 6’0, Gillermo’s body is a testament to Serenissiman esthetics, light but strong.
For all his Caerdiccian traits, Gillermo’s D’Angeline heritage shines through in his delicate features and an overall sense of sophistication which beams out of him most of the time.
However, hardship in the past two years of his life have hardened his traits somewhat, confirming his age and moving him from boyhood to manhood. His face is no longer flawless – still beautiful, it is however now much more angular, and he bears a scar on his left temple, which he refuses to discuss. His left shoulder is branded in Ummayyati script.
Habitual attire:
For his daily activities, Gillermo favors traveling clothes in dark colors - a duster for the road, boots and cut cloves for the ride. When he'll be attending functions, he will indulge in more elegant doublets, but his choice of wardrobe has increased in sobriety since his time in Carthage.
Personality:
The first-born of Giuseppe Stregazza, Gillermo was groomed from his most tender years to be the flower of Serenissiman nobility. Trained in the art of diplomacy and performance, Gillermo was a natural charmer who enjoyed seducing each and everyone until his life took a turn for the worst.
In his younger years, Gillermo had a weak spot for beautiful young women (and still does) and enjoyed pleasing them in everyway he can, an endeavor which he usually succeeds in, as he puts to contribution all the training his family has given him when trying to seduce a conquest. However, the past two years have been hard on his person, and while he is cockier when interacting with male counterparts, Gillermo has lost some of his proverbial confidence when interacting with the fairer sex.
An honorable despite his temperament, Gillermo strives to maintain the honor of his name and the reputation of his House. However, Gillermo's demeanor has darkened since his time in Carthage as a slave. He always had a temper and a tendency to excess, and those have become more apparent in recent years, making him at times seem more gruff than he used to be. He's simply not as proud as he used to be and much closer to common folk in the way he holds himself.
Although he still has access to his Duchy's dwindling resources and the matching title, Gil now knows that a title is only worth something if people decide it's worth something, and has learnt to count only on his own personal worth.
History:
In the aftermath of Melisande Shahrizai affair, a throng of young Serenissiman nobles precipitated themselves to wed D’Angeline peers, in the hopes of strengthening the relationships between Terre D’Ange and Caerdiccas Unitas. One of these young nobles eager for peace was the Duca Giuseppe Stregazza Di Belafonte, who married the Marquise Mylene D’Iz-Entre-Mer, of Azzale.
In La Serenissima (the tender years):
A few years into their union, Gillermo was born in La Serenissima, and was groomed to succeed to his father in the management of the Duchy. Gillermo’s childhood was but a succession of classes, as mentors from Terre D’Ange, Aragonia, Hellas, Illyria, Eire and Alba were called upon to teach him manners, diplomacy, history and geography.
In Aragonia (the blossoming):
When he turned 18, Gillermo was sent to Aragonia for several months. There, he met Stefano Calderon, expert retainer and one of the finest blades of the realm. Under his tutelage, Gillermo became a fine blade.
In La Serenissima (the dog years):
Upon his return to La Serenissima, Giuseppe decided it was time for his son to learn the world. For the following 3 years, Gillermo traveled extensively on the Continent, going as far as Menekhet and Jebe-Barkal on messenger and emissary errands to the rulers of the world. At 21, he returned to La Serenissima in the company of To-Biko, a silent Jebean who never leaves his side.
It became clear to all that Gillermo had become a grown man with wisdom beyond his years, a new confidence and balance showing.
Within the first year of his return, Giuseppe passed on. Gone one evening to court a lovely Serenissiman peer, he did not return for several night, and was instead found dead in an alley, a knife well lodged between the shoulders. He had been stripped of all his valuables, and it became clear common criminals had done the deal for no other reason than profit. The murder case was solved and Gillermo took on the title of Duca.
In the City of Elua (the embassy):
With the upcoming Coronation of Princess Sabrina de la Courcel, the rulers of Caerdiccas Unitas deemed appropriate that an embassy be sent to Terre D’Ange permanently. Gillermo’s mixed heritage, training and life experience made him the perfect candidate.
Gillermo came to the City of Elua with a large measure of excitement, as he had not set foot on D’Angeline soil in 4 years and remembered fondly Mont Nuit and its lovely Night Blooming Flowers. A true lover of D’Angeline culture, he strove to embrace it, and was a fervent defendor of cooperation between Terre D’Ange and Caerdiccas Unitas.
In this time, he enjoyed a tumultuous courtship with Duchesse Mirielle Bellamont of Azzalle, until she gave August de Trevalion her favor. His attempt on gaining intelligence yielded little results, though he was well on the way to being better informed after he purchased the mark of a gifted Gentian adept named Riva. However all these plans were set askew by the Plague, during which his faithful companion and friend To-Biko died, his sister Cascata disappeared, and Gillermo himself was, under strange circumstances, whisked out of the city of Elua.
In unchartered territory (detours):
Thanks to bribery and cunning on the part of his staff, Gillermo was taken out of Terre d'Ange during the plague, unconscious for quite a time. However, the plague rumors had gone out of Terre d'Ange, and the ship found no welcoming harbor, forcing it into open sea, off the coast of lands laying south of Carthage. There, a storm wrecked the ship and Gillermo, on the mend, washed up on unknown shores. After a long trek back up north, he fell into the hands of Carthaginian slavers and was sold in Carthage to an Ummayatti lord, who kept him in harsh slavery for another year, until a chance fire gave Gillermo an opportunity to escape and find his way to a Caerdicci ship where he hired himself as a crewman.
In Terre d'Ange (the quest commences):
Having made his way to La Serenissima, Gillermo was reunited with his aging mother and found out that his sister was presumed dead, though her body, just as his own, had never been retrieved. This gave Gillermo the impetus he needed. Now free of his obligations to the Doge, he returns to Terre d'Ange as a travelling nobleman on a personal quest.

NPCs:
Duca Giuseppe Stregazza Di Belafonte: (Deceased.) The third son to Ricciardo Stregazza, Guiseppe is a force of nature. When he was 25, he inherited the title of Duca from his maternal cousin Antonio Di Belafonte, who died without an heir. A bon vivant with a keen taste in women, and a talent for relationships, Giuseppe was appointed at 30 by the Doge as Minister of External Affairs. |
Marquise Mylene D’Iz-Entre-Mer: A beautiful and courtly woman of 50 years, Mylene D’Iz-Entre-Mer was the only daughter of the Marquis Jean-Baptiste D’Iz-Entre-Mer, a lesser D’Angeline peer entrusted with the Treasury of Azzalle. Mylene is a quiet and reserved woman with a fair judgement, although her sanity has been hailing since Guiseppe’s passing. |
Stefano Calderon: (Whereabouts unknown). A powerful man of 45 years, Stefano was born in the Aragonian city of Amilcar. His father, Pedro, was a peer in the royal court. Stefano was the second-oldest son which meant he did not receive the entitlement to his father's estate. However, he spent his younger years receiving an extensive education, mastered five languages (D’Angeline, Cruithne, Illyrian, Caerdiccian, and Hellene) and mastered several musical instruments. After his schooling, he joined the military and eventually joined the royal guard. His excellent sword skills have granted his the title of Grand Sword Master and he teaches swashbuckling to young nobles from the neighboring kingdoms, including Gillermo. After their parting, they stayed on excellent terms. |
To-Biko: (Gone missing and thought dead). A common street thug of massive proportion, To-Biko was in a great deal of trouble when he met Gillermo in Meroe. He was about to be executed for killing a man in a bar-fight, but To-Biko’s stature and personality impressed Gillermo and he managed to buy off To-Biko’s freedom from the Ras-Lijasu, with the promise that he was never to return to Jebe-Barkal. To-Biko considers that he owes Gillermo a life-debt and will not leave his until he’s had the opportunity to repay his debt. To-Biko has a great heart but a strong temper, and although most would judge him to lack intelligence because of his silent demeanor, he is a smart and adaptative man. Gillermo considers To-Biko his best friend and confidante, and would be loathe to part ways with him, although he respects his freedom and does not consider himself To-Biko's creditor. Years of travelling together have brought them to an intimate friendship, affording To-Biko much lee-way in his private interactions with Gillermo, though he maintains the demeanor of a retainer when in public. |
Giovanna Bruchesi: (Whereabouts unknown). A chubby and strong woman of 51 years, Giovanna had been in the service of the Stregazza family since her maiden days and knows the siblings like the back of her hand. Working now as the headmaid of the D'Iz-Entre-Mer household, Giovanna treats both siblings like her own children, chastising Gillermo for his excesses and Cascata for her messy ways. She keeps the household in as good order as she can, but according to Cascata's standards, although Gillermo regularly complains that the house could be more tidy, to Giovanna's delight. |
