Following the woman's directions with the hope she wasn't actually leading us in the wrong direction, Hanako and I walked east and I looked out for the residential buildings. Most of the buildings so far looked the same, and I couldn't tell the difference between business and residential. I glanced over to Hanako, who seemed to be in the same situation.

I had decided to skirt my duties for the afternoon and take a walk. I knew better, but I needed the time away. I had a lot of work to do since I was the caretaker of my cousin's inheritance. It was funny, after the initial anger I felt, I didn't mind at all. Granted I learned sooner than expected, and that the title was only temporary up to his or her eighteenth natality. Coming down the street, heading for the Square, I noticed two women, one older than the other, walking as if they were lost. It was apparent even from this distance that they weren't from any of the nearby countries, and obviously not Alban. Still...
"You two look lost," I said, approaching them. "Do you need help?"

I turned when I heard someone speaking and saw a lovely woman with red hair and Hanako translated. "We're looking for lodgings," I answered while Hanako translated.

I watched the older woman speak to the younger, who then replied. When the former said that they were looking for lodgings, I nodded before the thought occurred to me that I had room enough for them and what looked to be their staff. "I have enough room for you. If you wish."

Hanako translated and I felt my face brighten up. Then it dimmed. "Ask her if she's going to charge and how much," I requested of Hanako. She translated and I hoped that if she did, it wouldn't be too much. Oka-san and the okiya had already spent too much money for this trip already.

Again, the two women spoke and the elder spoke. Now that I've heard her a few times, I heard an accent in her voice when she spoke D'Angline, but I could understand it well enough. "No charge," I said, waving a hand. "What kind of host would I be if I charged a visiting adept?"

Visiting adept? What's an adept? I looked to Hanako, who shook her head and shrugged. Apparently she didn't know either. I nodded and motioned for Hanako to accept. I was looking forward to learning the woman's language and of her culture.

"This way." I motioned as I pivoted.
