Character Played By Marcus Hedbrandh, sweedish model
Name: Renard de Valliers
Title: Marquis
Age: 21
Race (Lineage Origin): D'Angeline
Gender: Male
Height: 6'1"
Home Province/Country: Camlach
Appearance: Renard has pale skin and blue gray eyes, with short dirty blond hair. He has a strong jaw, a long narrow nose, and a structured facial structure. His body can best be described as lean muscle. He has a thin frame, and some muscular definition, but not too much to be considered buff. His physical ability lies more in his agility and stamina then in his strength. His practice in martial arts has given him ample flexibility. He is stronger than he appears.
Personality:
Renard considers himself a man for justice, fairness and truth. He abhors lies and refuses to interact with those who would obscure or dispel the truth whenever he can. He's a very loyal man, and would willingly give his life for his family or his friends. However, he can seem very introverted to most people. Honor is incredibly important to him, and his pride has gotten him into more trouble than he would like to admit. He doesn't trust women, and tends to believe that they are out to hurt him in some way. Despite this, he also feels that if a woman is in trouble, he is honor bound to help them if he can. He doesn't like drama, he appreciates simple things: good food, good music and relaxed days watching the rising sun. Although he knows that he must be married at some point, he's not looking forward to it. He considers it a duty and not a personal goal.
Renard is very disciplined and responsible, and he enjoys structure. He respects authority, but he doesn't enjoy adhering to it. He is slow to trust most people, and he can come off as harsh. There may be a softness beneath his hard exterior, but not many would take the time to explore him and peel back those defenses.
Renard is known for being straight forward and plain about what he wants. He doesn't like to walk around issues. He can easily become impatient when others aren't straight forward and mince their words. He tends to handle his anger by walking away or becoming more and more quiet.
History:
Renard is the eldest of two children, and the only son of the Marquis of the Marche of Lorraine. His sister was 3 years younger than him. His father, Constantin Valliers saw to it that he went to the Camael Temple, learning everything from swordsmanship, archery, military tactics, martial techniques, and leadership. He had a talent for archery and martial arts, but his knowledge for military tactics was quite impressive. His fencing abilities were good, but not nearly as amazing as his archery skills. Whenever he came home, his father urged him to continue practicing his skills under the tutor of a exiled Cassiline. Renard enjoyed this regular practice, and he found a thrill in knowing that he was making his father proud.
When he was 14, his mother passed away from a illness. Renard had been incredibly close to his mother, and it had been painful to watch her slowly die in pain and agony. He was shocked when his father announced that he would be getting married again only 2 years later. His father married a woman who was 20 years old, several years younger than Constantin. Renard hated the woman and did his best to stay away from her. It was apparent that this new woman, Sariel, really liked him. Whenever Renard was at home and his father was away on business, Sariel would find ways to tease him with her body. She would walk around in skimpy outfits or undress in his view, pretending that she was unaware that he was there. One night, she came into his room and tied up his hands and feet while he was sleeping. He woke up to find her atop him, raping him. He told her no several times, but she continued the activity. When it was over, she untied him and left the room.
Renard cried silently in his room. He hated that she took away his virginity, that she took away his chance for pleasure, but he especially hated himself for sleeping with his father's wife. He packed his things and left the estate that very day. He sent his father a letter, stating that he would continue his training at the Camael Temple. And that is where he stayed until he turned 18. He decided not to tell his father about the incident, because it was unlikely that his father would ever believe him. And he was too ashamed to admit what had happened.
He joined his father's men in battle against the Skaldi who attempted to invade Camlach's borders. All of the hurt and pain of his youth was put into injuring and killing as many Skaldi as he could. He spent three years traveling and defeating the Skaldi until he received a letter from his father. His father was growing ill and he was handing over the title to him. He pleaded for Renard to find a bride and birth an heir. Renard felt compelled to adhere to his father's wishes, and to take care of his baby sister, Angelique, so he traveled back to Lorraine. He began handling the estate, while tending to his father and spending time with his sister. He ignored his step mother, and thankfully- she left him alone. His father passed away a few months ago, encouraging Renard to find a bride in Elua. Renard agreed, confident that his sister would be able to handle the accounts of the estate along with their trusted manager.
