I nodded. "That sounds like a good plan to me. I don't think you've told me much about your sister. What is she like?" I asked with pure curiosity as we made our way towards the table of refreshments.

As Noemi and her group moved into the fete, I smiled and squeezed Lucien’s arm. I rather hoped we’d be through the line of people soon and be able to lose ourselves in the fete for awhile. I could use a drink and a dance.

I'd not decided either way if I was going to take Jessamine back to my home or back to Valerian when I'd made the contract with Trinette, and in the end I'd paid extra for the right to decide later that night. My mood as it was now was not conducive to going back to my own home; I didn't have enough.. tools.. to suit my quicksilver mood, and as my carriage rolled up I glanced around, and spotted Naia waiting not too far from me.
My lips curled in a viciously arrogant smile, and I bent, my lips brushing my fire-headed adepts ear as I whispered. "Pull your skirts up when you get into the carriage - all the way up to your ribs. I want to see your pretty little arse, and stoop over some as you walk in so I can glimpse what lays between your thighs as well."
My hand ran over her rear again, and I bent my head a little more, my teeth finding the sweet skin of her neck and scraping over it softly. I curled my fingers against her rear, my fingertips pushing close to her slit as the carriage rolled to a stop before us. The door opened, and I suckled her neck before stepping back, holding my hand out like a proper gentleman to aid my lady into our carriage.

I giggled softly at the feeling of his whispered voice tickeled my ears. I responded eagerly, "Yes, Master."
I could feel my heart pounding with anxiousness as our carriage came toward us. A blush began color my face when I began to realize what I would be doing.
I let out a soft sound as he fondled my rear and moved his finger down my bottom as if he was going to fondle my pearl in front of anyone watching. I lifted my dress just as he had asked, lifting the chemise along with it and exposing a pair of black lace panties. My slim abdomen could be seen as I continued to lift the dress, exposing the bottom of a corset that ended above my belly button.
I took his hand and made my way into the carriage, making sure to bend and give him access to whatever he wished. It was so degrading that I could feel a rush moving through my trembling legs.

"Yes, it is," I agreed, thinking about the friends I might never see again. "But at least we can still write one another."

It was nice that he was so interested and I smiled as we walked. "Victoire is seven years older than I am and much smarter. She likes to design gowns and sometimes she helps me with mine as well, and she's more proper but still a lot of fun to spend time with. In some ways I wish I was more like her."

"Drink lamb?" I asked as we waited for the next wave of guests, waving a server over and plucking up two glasses of brandy and offering her one.

“Thank you,” I said gratefully as I took the glass from him. I took a sip and the burn of the liquid helped calm my nerves. I smiled at Lucien, knowing he would understand what I was feeling. “Truly, thank you.”

I grinned and leaned in to kiss her cheek. She was so adorable when she looked at me like that. "Your welcome," I said before taking a sip myself.

"Mmm, I have to say, you D'Angelines certainly know how to eat. It's a wonder that you're not all fat. Or is that why they only give out bite-sized servings?" I grinned as I teased her some more. Truly, the bite had been delicious.

"A drink it is." I replied to Azabel with a smile and guided her over to a servant holding a tray. I plucked two glasses and handed one to her before I focused on taking a sip of my own. "So, shall we mingle a little. I recognize some of our kin here."

I chuckled and shook my head slightly. “Yes, that must be the reason, small servings,” I said, smiling. “You’re going to be spoiled when you get home. Are you going to force all your cooks to learn to cook like d’Angelines?”

Between the brandy and Lucien’s kiss, I felt sturdier now as we waited for the next people to greet.

"Oh no, I learned when I was a child to never tell the cooks what to do. They get annoyed and you'll eat porridge for the next week," I said with a wry smile from the memory.

“Ready?” I asked.

I smiled at the way she spoke of her sister, but I felt that it would be wrong not to add, with complete sincerity. "I like you just the way you are, Noemi. I'm sure Victoire is wonderful too in her own way. She must be is she's your sister."

"That's really nice of you to say, thank you," I replied with a brighter smile, then leaned over and brushed a friendly kiss against his cheek. "Do you want to go meet her? I saw her earlier but I'm not quite sure what she's doing now. It shouldn't take too long to find her though."

I smiled at the friendly kiss and nodded. "That'd would be nice, yes." I looked around as well, trying to pinpoint someone with Noemi's general looks.

As Eric looked around so did I, and then I spotted her off to one side and smiled widely. "Over there," I said cheerfully, then started to lead my friend in that direction at a comfortable pace. She didn't seem to be in a deep conversation at the moment so there wasn't anything to worry about interrupting. "Good evening," I said to her once I was close enough to do so comfortably. "What do you think of this place? Isn't the art fantastic?"

"That's better than nothing," I agreed with a smile, taking another drink of my wine and then looking around to where the receiving line was getting a bit more sparse. "It looks like we might actually have a chance to meet the host and hostess now. Would you like to do that or wait a little while longer?"

Before Azabel could answer me I felt a wave of sickness. I hadn't been feeling very well in the afternoon but I had assumed it was nothing overly much. But as the first few sips of wine hit my stomach my forehead began to sweat and a cramp contracted in my abdomen. I placed down my glass as I felt weak and disengaged myself from Azabel, my hand covering my mouth as I moved with a steady speed out side to the side of the road and wretched all over the cobble stone. I had a bad feeling as another cramp started to hit me and I knew I had to get home right away.

I smiled when I spied Noemi, leaning in to kiss her cheek when she spoke.
"It is lovely, I hadn't been here before so it's interesting to look around." I sipped my wine and glanced around at the room. "A good turnout as well, the happy couple must be pleased." I did not even know them, but a Princess must be seen at all the right places, especially someone who would be worthy of Christien.
"And who is this then?" I asked with a smile, noting that my sister seemed to have found herself a male companion. Interesting.

"Have you met them yet? The Sovereign Duc seems very nice," I replied in a conversational tone, cocking my head slightly and watching as Victoire looked around. She always had a certain air of dignity to her that I admired but with her hair up and that tension in her features she seemed even more mature and I wondered at it. Once she'd had as many wild stories as I had, but then again she'd been spending so much time at the Palace with Christien and Coretta that maybe she hadn't gotten to relax in some time. Letting those thoughts and concerns pass I smiled a bit more widely and patted Eric's arm lightly. "This is my friend Eric. Eric, this is my sister Victoire."

I blushed as Noemi's sister spoke of me. She was incredibly beautiful, the sort that can make someone speechless, and that was all it took to send me into Alyssum mode, at least for a short while. I looked into her eyes, then at the floor, smiling and bowing. "Your Highness."

I groaned happily at watching her, and just as she began to disappear into the carriage my hand came up, slapping her bare rear with a resounding crack. My palm had been cupped to create more sound than pain, and I didn't bother glancing back at Naia as I climbed in after her, calling out a request to return to Valerian as I did.

"Let's do it now while they're free," I said, sliding my hand rather forwardly around his arm. "Lead on," I added with a smile. Something inside me stirred, something that had been missing since Sergei and I had started fighting.
But it was wiped away again as I spotted someone who could only be Sergei's brother Vladimir. My smiled dropped away as I turned my face away. I did not want to see him looking at me the way he was looking at other women here. I suddenly wished my shoulders weren't bare.

I nodded with a smile for her, and then led her to the couple. "Your highness, your grace. May I introduce Marie Legard, and to extend our heartfelt congratulations?" I knew Marie wouldn't mind that I spoke for her, she was still getting used to these sorts of events.

For a moment I almost thought I saw a spark of the old Mercy in the Princesa's eyes- but then she saw something and turned away quickly, and I could only watch for a moment as that faded away and she shrunk into herself. "What just happened?" I asked in a concerned tone, brow somewhat furrowed as I took a quick glance around, then stopped and turned to face her. "And don't say 'nothing' because I know you better than that, Mercedes."
