I was mildly interested when I saw a invitation for tea from a well known past resident of Kusheth. It seemed that Elua was a small world indeed. I sent a messenger off to respond with my acceptance for the invitation.
I chose to wear a black gown that had a small collar and short sleeves. The dress fit me like a glove. It was elegant, but not overly seductive. There was a sash that fit about the middle in the color of blue green to match my eyes. My hair had been pulled into a bun set with a blue green comb.
I rode in a carriage, as always and waited when it stopped at her estate. I was helped out of the carriage before making my way to the door. I have a soft knock and waited patiently for a response.

I was settled in the sitting room with my correspondences, reading them as I waited for the young Lady de Bonnel to arrive. I put them aside when I heard the knock on the door, for I had just enough time to stand to greet her. My swelling belly made certain things difficult. I was really going to have to get a better chair... "Desdemona, welcome," I said, greeting her with a smile and a polite kiss on each cheek. She had worn black, which immediately put her in my good books. I was in black as well, still in mourning.

My eyes widened a bit when I saw that she was quite pregnant. When I had last seen her, she had not been with child, but that was a few years ago. I didn't smile, but I did give her a chaste kiss on the cheek in response. "You are a glowing beam of loveliness, Ana. I hope you are doing well." My words had just the smallest hint of warmth, just enough to come off as convincing.
I made my way inside of her home, "Thank you for the invitation. It was a welcomed surprise." I managed to curve my lips just slightly to give my features a slightly softened touch.

"Only if that beam is a wide one," I said with self-deprecating humour. I took a moment to sit back down. "I'm glad you wrote me back. I would have invited you sooner, had I known that you were in the City."

I laughed softly at her joke and moved to sit across from her, "I am glad to hear that, Ana. Elua just doesn't feel quite like home. Even the wine is not quite like Kusheth, but I suppose I must get used to it..."
I looked around her home, admiring the decor quietly before I turned back to her, "Have you heard of any interesting gossip? I am hungry for news."

She jumped straight into a demand for gossip, and I held off answering for a moment as Chloe came in with the tea and cookies. I dismissed her with a nod. "Cream, sugar?" I asked as I poured the tea. Once we both had a cup, I returned to her question. "I'm afraid that no one thinks I'm interested in such things anymore, what with the pregnancy and all. The rumours I have heard seem to make all sorts of speculation concerning the queen's death. It seems everyone thinks the Skaldi did it, its merely a question of whether or not they used a prince of Ruskovia, a princess of Aragonia, or the queen's lady-in-waiting to get the poisoned wine into the palace."

I watched how she held off on answering, and I couldn't help but admire her tactic. "Just sugar," I answered her.
I picked up my cup and took a sip as I listened to her speak of the queen's death. I nodded seriously as I considered this information, "Skaldi?" I shook my head, "No, the Skadi wouldn't have done something like a poisoning. I don't think they are the type to make those kind of steps. The people in their culture usually defeat their enemies head on, while watching them." I thought out loud.
"What do you think? Do you have a theory?" my eyes looked into hers before taking another sip of the tea. I picked up a cookie and took a small bite.

"I would normally suspect poisonings to come from our neighbours to the south. But we've enjoyed a good relationship with Aragonia for generations now, and my friends in the Caerdicci states have heard no whispers." I shook my head. "And if it was an inside job, they've gone to great lengths to cover it up. What with the murder of the Trevalion princess, and the kidnapping of Comtesse Lefebvre. Everything points, rather ham-handedly, to the Skaldi."

I nodded seriously when she mentioned Aragonia, although I could imagine them doing something like this, it seemed that we were goo terms wtih them. I considered her perspective that it was the Skaldi and I shook my head lightly, "I wonder if it's our own kind. I have heard of others who are not in full support of the Queen, but it might be possible that the Skaldi are trying different methods. It's hard to imagine them doing something so sneaky.."
"Have you heard of any upcoming events or parties? I'm hoping to get myself connected with the noble crowd," I mentioned to her. I wondered if having a party of my own would be a smart move to make.

I nearly got whiplash from the sudden change of topics, but I merely blinked. I didn't remember Desdemona jumping from topic to topic like she was, but then again, I hadn't seen her since she was a child. People change.
"The social scene has been strangely quiet since Queen Coretta's coronation. There is an engagement fete coming up for Princess Phreya and the Duc of Siovale, but it's only for the highest ranking." Calmly I took a sip of tea, not mentioning that I had an invite and hadn't decided if I would attend. A pregnant near-widow was not exactly the life of the party, and I didn't want to ruin Phreya's night.

I nodded to her, oblivious to the fact that she was surprised at the change in subject. I picked up the cup of tea and took a sip. I knew that getting into such a high ranking affair would probably be a little difficult for someone whose not well known.
"Perhaps I should have my own party? It would be a great way to get to know everyone. All of us are so spread out, it's hard to connect with one another," I spoke in a casual tone. I looked to her, wondering if she had any comments.

"I think that could be very beneficial for you and your brother both," I said with a smile after swallowing a sip of tea. "Everyone here loves a good fete."

I nodded as I took a good sip of tea, "When do you think would be a good time for something like that? I will need at least a week to prepare and figure out what I would want to prepare..."
I began thinking about what I would want and who I would invite. I enjoyed putting together parties, especially when I was the hostess. Everyone is honor bound to speak to me and give me their attention. I wondered if she would be willing to help me.

"Give yourself two weeks, it's much easier on the pockets when you don't have to pay those silly 'premiums' for rush jobs. Go to Eglantine first, and have new outfits made for you and your brother both. People in this city can be obsessed with what other's wear. After the Night Court, artisans appear infinitely more flexible," I advised, idly running my hand over my stomach in circles.

I nodded seriously, taking her word at face value. I would consider her advice, or at least appear to take her advice into consideration. "Is there a Eglantine adept that tailor's your clothes? You must need some adjust to accommodate..." I wasn't trying to offend her, but I thought the topic might be one that she would enjoy conversing on.
I picked up my cup of tea and took a long sip. So far, she seemed to be quite a interesting person.

I suppose there was no way to talk about my pregnancy without mentioning that I was ballooning into a whale, so I didn't hold it against her. "One of my maids is quite handy with a needle, she's been modifying as needed. I shall be looking for new gowns soon though, something with more fabric," I said with a soft smile. "I'm afraid my regular style isn't much suited to being pregnant."

She was quite lucky to have such assistance right in her own home. I imagined that the maid was making it easier for her, "That must be very convenient for you. If you want a shopping partner, feel free to call on me."
"Have you been thinking of any names for the little one?" I asked politely.

"A boy will be Jareth. I haven't decided on a girl's name," I admitted with a smile. I also didn't mention that I needed two names of each gender ready. Kaden had never told me what gender my twins were. "I want something strong, but feminine. Any suggestions?"

"Jareth sounds like a nice strong name," I spoke my opinion quietly. Then I considered some names, "Some female names that I like are Maxine, Monet, Maika, Giselle and Ivette." I looked at her, curious to see if she liked any of the names.

I tapped my finger against my thigh as I considered her suggestions. "I like Giselle. I'll have to add that to the list of possible names. Thank you Desdemona."

I nodded, "That might be a good one. You are quite welcome. Was there anything that you wished to talk about? This has been quite a nice visit."
I picked up my cup of tea and finished the rest, setting it back on the table. I felt that it was about the time that I should leave. I didn't want to overwhelm her with my presence.

"It has been very nice to see you, especially now that you're all grown," I replied. There was plenty of tea left in the pot, but clearly she had somewhere else to be. "Please say hello to your brother for me."

I forced a smile on my face, "Oh, I will be sure to let him know of your greeting. Perhaps after the babe is born we could have a celebration, something small with just some friends and family?"
I moved to give her a light hug, "There is no need to see me out. Take care, and we will talk again." I gave a curtsy and then made my way out of her home. I felt myself giving a sigh of relief once I got to her door. I opened it and walked out and then headed back to my carriage. Anacrasia was a nice woman, but I had some other things on my plate.
