~ Appearance: Alais' hair is a perfect colour of chestnut; brown with just the barest hint of gold in it's strands. Her hair is also full of body and bares a natural wave to it so that when its dry it is actually shorter then when its wet. Her body is the picture of perfection as well; she takes care of herself with tumbling and acrobatic keeping her figure the perfect shape. Alais' eyes are her most intriguing part of her as they are a deep grey with a hint of blue that looks like the skies before a thunderstorm. Her flawless skin is the colour of ivory and never tans for Alais' fear that it may be damaged because of it. At a little bit taller then average, her height is the only part of her body that Alais finds uncomfortable.
~Played By (name of actor or model): Emmy Rossum
~Personality: Alais is quiet and naive but mostly because she doesn't know how to be anything else. Her siblings never really liked her and her parents were never really sure what to do with her, so she was often left behind or forgotten, some times literally. Underneath her shy exterior, Alais is curious and perhaps even a little wild. The truth is that Alais isn't really sure what she could be, she's never been allowed to explore that side of herself though she hopes perhaps one day she might be able to do so. Alais' motto is seen and not heard, something she does very well.
~History:
Not much can really be said about Alais, she was born the middle child of three to parents who were are good and kind and wished for nothing more then to give her everything they could. Her father Alain is the maternal cousin of her mother Marie. The pair met after Alain was adopted into the her mother's household when his own parents died. Growing up together had its advantages, their relationship bloomed without threat and before long the two were courting. They married once they had made their majority and not long after they had their first child Christophe. Alais followed a little over a year later and her sister Joliet a little more then a year after that.
Alais differed greatly from her siblings and it set her apart all through her life. Where Christophe was brooding and aggressive, naturally suited for a military life and where Joliet was wild, impetuous and social, Alais was quiet, sweet and forgiving. The fact that Alais also bore quite a different colouring then her siblings who were both fair haired and dark eyed, also had a lot to do with her being so ostracized. But she is always polite and kind to those around her no matter how they treat her or put her down. She became synonymous with innocent by all that knew her as well as for being predictable and boring. It is likely because of this that at the age of eight her parents sent her to the City of Elua to be raised in the Night Court. Her parents came from meager means and had very little money. They knew their son would join the military when it was time, and they had may arrangements to betroth their youngest to the son of a local merchant, but Alais was so shy that they feared she would never find a suitable husband. So it was Alyssum House that Alais soon called home.
For the most part Alais did well at Alyssum House though some might call her mediocre. She did well in lessons but when it came to deal with others or communication, Alais tended to become nervous and if chided, over wrought with emotion. When her first patron was queried about her debut assignation, he ironically called it “some what dismal success” who did not contract her ever again.
Over the following year Alais plodded along doing her best till late into her seventeenth year news came from her brother that her parents had died. The news hit her hard as it seemed as though her parents were the only ones that she was close to her and after they were gone she really had nothing. Alais turned more inward and began refusing to take any patrons. The Dowayne allowed it for a few months but soon he forced her to take assignations again, knowing that she would never move on if some one didn't push her.
Alais continued on till she reached her eighteenth natal when her inability to bring in patrons frustrated the Dowayne enough to make good use of her else where while she waited to be contracted. Alais became the assistant to anyone that needed on through Alyssum House and she ran errands, did minor jobs and occasionally did the cooking, cleaning, and sewing. When six months later she caught the eye of the Comtesse Elaine de Fermat, who was searching for a new lady's maid, it seemed like a good idea for a change from the life she obviously wasn't happy with. It was agreed that Alais' marque would be purchased and within the week Alais was moved into their town house.
For the last two months she's done her best to be the calibre of lady's maid befitting a noble woman of the Comtesse's station. But the transition hasn't been easy as the Comtesse is a demanding and a some times near cruel patron who makes no apologies for her treatment of Alais. To make matters worse the Comte de Fermat, Lucan, has his eyes on Alais and there have been plenty of rumours spread that he has plans to make Alais his unofficial mistress.
