Lucien,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am well myself, but I find that my missing you has greatly overcome my fear of the events in the city and I am longing to return. I have begun setting my affairs in order here and should be back in the city within a fortnight of when this letter is written.
I cannot wait to see you again.
Love, Phreya

I read her words and felt relief fill my chest. I had missed her terribly, more than I had thought that I would. Leaning back in my chair, I opened the right had drawer of my desk. There, right close at hand, was the little box my mother had sent me when she had learned that I was courting Phreya. Slowly my body stilled, my heart slowing and my breath coming to a halt.
In that calmness, I knew. I knew I never wanted to be apart from Phreya for so long ever again. I moved enough only to close the drawer again. I loved her, truly loved her. Her smile, the tender look in her eye when she thought I wasn't watching, the mischievous look when she wanted me to be. Her laughter, her passion, her thoughtfulness. I smiled a little to myself and drew in a breath. It was decided. Now I could barely wait for her return.
