Character Played By (the person in your avatar): Gemma Ward
Name: Kasia nó Gentian
Title: Gentian Trainee/Adept
Age: 16
Race (Lineage Origin): d'Angeline/Skaldi
Gender: Female
Height: 5'5"
Home Province/Country: Night Court
Appearance (1-2 Paragraphs):
There is an obvious Skaldic influence in Kasia's features with the wide space between her eyes and her broad forehead- but this is tempered by her d'Angeline heritage and its fine features, giving her a waifish, otherworldly appearance. Her eyes are a crisp silvery-blue color and almost distant in a knowing way, her nose is pert and her hair hangs to her mid-back in waves so loose it may as well be straight. Her arms and legs are well proportioned if a little thin and her body is slight and almost boyish except for the slight curves at her breast and hip. While nearly as pale as her older sister and sharing some similarity of features there are enough differences that they're not generally mistaken for one another and Kasia is already a couple inches taller than her sibling and still growing.
Personality (1-2 Paragraphs):
Perhaps due to her history or her abilities Kasia tends to be a reserved quiet unless she is approached or has something pertinent to say, but she isn't really antisocial. More often she observes almost everything and doesn't include herself in it until she already has a good impression for what's going on and whether or not she'll be interfering. Some people are a little unnerved by the impartial, almost absent look in her eyes when she's thinking, but this is simply how she thinks and oftentimes her distractedness comes from the fact that there are several ideas flowing through her mind at once. Though her gifts cause her to at times say things that other people can find disconcerting her demeanor is generally good-humored and her smiles are genuine when she deigns to give them. When speaking of unpleasantness Kasia is almost detatched and tries to put such matters quickly behind her but her dedication to truth keeps her from skipping over it or not thoroughly exploring a matter. With her friends or sister she opens up a bit more, though she does tend to avoid conflict and still often gets lost in her own thoughts. Her abilities for fortune telling shine the most when she is using tarot cards or runes, and she shows a good bit of skill as a medium communicating with the dead but as she finds it unpleasant she will exhaust every other tool at her disposal before calling on those spirits.
History (At least 2 detailed Paragraphs):
The third-born of an unofficial union of a Skaldi woman and her Camaeline employer Kasia remembers nothing of her origins that her older sister Felicja hasn't told her. She knows that she has a brother a couple of years older than she is who is probably with their mother and that their father is likely in Camlach but being so young when she was removed from the rest of her family she thinks of it rarely if at all. Instead her earliest memories are of Cereus, where she and her sister were left when Kasia was only three years old, where they were accepted mostly out of pity and due to their pale coloration that was so close to the Cereus canon features.
The House was a pleasant place to grow up and the quiet, odd girl too easily enough to the rules and standards that Cereus set for her, but it didn't take more than a couple of years for them to realize that she was a little different from the rest of the children in her age group. Guessing games never seemed to be quite that simple with her and she had an unusual tendency to always get the right answers to questions that she never could have been presented with. Even her imaginary friends seemed somehow more real than those of the other children and after the Second began to notice an arrangement for her to meet with the Gentian Second was made. The interview was a good one and with no further ado Kasia was moved to Gentian to train there as one of their adepts.
As she aged her skills became more pronounced and specialized and the half-Skaldi girl thrived among the other adepts though she never competed against her Housemates the way her Dowayne might have wished her to. Tarot and runes were skills she picked up easily, and as she aged she showed skill as a medium she was trained in that as well though her reluctance to use that ability often frustrated her teachers. Just before her dedication her sister, whom she'd been separated from for a few years, was moved from Eglantine to Gentian as well and they quickly made up for lost time and were soon as close as anyone would expect of sisters. Felicja's debut was a source of much pride for her younger sibling and Kasia hopes to make her just as proud with her own approaching debut, and that the sense of foreboding she has about recent events will be abated before she's required to say anything more about them.
