Character played by: Aushima Sawhney
Name: Nawar bint Kaseem
Title: Amira
Age: 17
Race (Lineage Origin): Umaiyyati
Gender: Female
Height: 5'1"
Home Province/Country: Umaiyyat
Appearance (1-2 Paragraphs): Short but slender with a flat stomach, trim hips and bountiful breasts; a belly dancer's body with beautifully tanned skin and exotic features. Her legs are strong and sturdy, her arms graceful and slim. Full lips, straight white teeth, a pert nose, deep hazel almond-shaped eyes, thick and curly hair that's a rich hue of brown. Her movements are graceful and controlled, whether she is dancing or not.
Personality (1-2 Paragraphs): A lover of animals and a free spirit, Nawar has a smile on her face as much as it's possible to. She loves making people laugh, making them happy. She chafes at her bonds and is bored with Umaiyyat, and her station there. As royalty, she has even less freedom and therefore makes trouble around the palace as much as possible, something not many other than her elder brother Nasir find humorous. They are rather close, though not overly so, and he is gently protective and often her partner-in-crime.
The one thing she is allowed to do without reservation is belly dance, and so she does, and throws herself into it. She is rather accomplished and dances for hours within her quarters at the palace, which mirrors have been built into. She stays out of trouble that way, and so the Sultan allows it.
History (At least 2 detailed Paragraphs): Nawar had the bad (in her opinion) fortune to be born female in the Umaiyyat, which leaves her little to no room to do as she wishes; indeed, she can barely take a breath without someone regulating her actions, or at least that's what it seems like to her. She's long felt stifled by her half-brother, the overbearing Sultan. Her mother died in childbirth along with a younger sibling, and so she has no one save Nasir to talk to, and no one at all to talk to about womanly things. It is a loss she feels acutely, especially now that she has grown into a woman and is feeling urges she doesn't understand.
As a child, she was always very free-spirited, forever bringing animals of every sort into the palace with the intent to train them and make them her pets. Of course, the loud and colorful birds were rarely ever welcome within the quiet, orderly halls of the palace and so were forever pecking away at passers-by while Nawar laughed uproariously. As she grew, her pranks also grew... But not by much, as the tried-and-true things were always the best and worked most potently to agitate whoever her target was that day. Every once in awhile a colorful bird that should decidedly not be in the palace can be seen flitting through the halls, flanked by harried, irritated guards and the sound of feminine laughter.
There have been rumors of late, brought on by an unnamed source, that she and her older brother Nasir are going to try and overtake the Sultan's throne. It has also been brought to Nawar's attention that the man she was betrothed to as a child will soon be coming to collect her for his wife. Not wanting that in the least, Nawar is beginning to formulate a plan to get out of Umaiyyat and escape with Nasir to Terre d'Ange, a beautiful far-away land that has completely different customs and beliefs, somewhere where women mean something more than they do in her home country. She heard all about it from Nasir, who in turn heard it from a girl he fancied himself in love with. She wants to experience something different, something that enables her to have fun, and so she has her heart set on getting out of the Umaiyyat as soon as possible.
