Avatar: Jared Leto
Name: Sabriel de Trevalion, Prince of the Blood, and Lord de Trevalion
Race: D'Angeline
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Appearance:
Sabriel and Augustin are alike in form; slender frames made fit by hard training and swordplay. Sabriel matches his brother in height, though he is two years younger. While Augustin seems to be the exact image of Baudoin de Trevalion, Sabriel has a much more subtle look, though that’s not to say he doesn’t hold any family resemblance. His hair is the color of jet, cut to his shoulders and moving up in layers to rest unevenly before his eyes. His disheveled appearance doesn’t stop there, as his pale cheeks are usually shadowed by a growing, albeit short, beard. This also conceals a scar along his left cheek unless one gets close enough to see through the short whiskers. His eyes are similar to Augustin’s in their intensity, though Sabriel’s hold more of a sky blue than sea-grey.
History:
Sabriel is the son of Kristiana Aiatas and Lucien de Trevalion, the son of Bernadette de Trevalion and Ghislan nó Trevalion. Given his lineage, Sabriel is the Scion of Elua, Anael (and inherited the unmistakable apple scent), Azza, and Namaah. His childhood would have seemed normal, and it was, though to a point. He and his brother were the terrors of Azzalle, and anything that caught their eye was sure to be in trouble. Augustin, now infamous for his love and lovemaking, was no different in his youth. And Sabriel had no difficulty keeping pace with his older brother.
But both brothers unfortunately found their eyes set on the same girl, Annabel Morreaux. Stories say she had a beauty that could rival Naamah herself. Sabriel, 16, and Augustin, 18, pursued her relentlessly and Annabel was not one to discourage either boy. The somewhat friendly competition turned into something quite the opposite, though. Sabriel was out riding with Annabel one morning, racing out into an open field through a layer of fog. Annabel’s horse stumbled on something unseen under the blanket of white. The horse went down and Annabel was thrown. Sabriel rushed to her side but it was too late. She’d broken her neck, dead the moment she hit the ground. Grief-stricken, he brought her back to the Trevalion estate. Unfortunately Augustin was in the practice ring with his father. Heartbroken and furious upon the news, Augustin lashed out with his saber, slashing Sabriel across the left cheek for which he still bears the scar. Since that moment on, the two brothers have not spoken a word to each other. Seeking to please Annabel’s grieving family, Sabriel was banished from the estate and Azzalle for two years. Sabriel, hurt and feeling betrayed, took the exile to heart and has yet to return to Terre d’Ange itself in eight years.
Years of separation from his family have let his hurt over their betrayal turn into something reminiscent of hate. And the figure Sabriel hates the most is Augustin, his best friend and brother who so easily threw him aside. This seething bitterness has turned this loving and playful boy into a ruthless and unforgiving man.
But word has reached Sabriel of the deaths of Ambrose, Alais, and Louis and the worsening condition of his brother. His intentions are anything but brotherly, as he’s come to challenge his brother for the title of Duc de Trevalion and Sovereign Duc of Azzalle. Still hurt by his family’s betrayal, he does feel the need to retaliate but that is not his only reason for challenging his brother. Azzalle was the love of his life and it deserves someone better than what his brother is becoming. Of course, he would be lying if he said he wasn’t looking forward to tearing Augustin’s life apart.
