I was ready to learn.
After becoming better acquainted with myself, and coming to the full realisation of the invaluable skill had and could teach me, I came to terms with the fact that I was, indeed, getting help. My pride had taken a blow the first day we had met, having him steal from me, but with a level head I realised that this was an opportunity I would be fool to pass up, and that I was truly grateful for what he had done for me that night, scraping me up off of the streets at one of my lower times and giving me a place to stay and hide when needed, so that I woul dnot have to find myself curling up in th edoorways of closed shops, or under filth in alleyways when I could not afford better lodgings. And today was the first day of my lessons, well the first real day, with my outfit made and clinging to my body, though not too tightly of course, perfect for allowihng movement, and the cloak he had given me with the many pockets and hiding places, I walked the street of Night's Doorstep, knowing he would find me and full of excitement for what I might learn today. I did remin myself tha tI needed to keep an open mind, an to let emotion fall from everything we did today. it would not help me to get frustrated at a lock I could not pick, or a wall that was difficult for me to climb. I needed to be clear-minded and open to suggestion, even if it cratched at my pride just a little bit.

I waited for Estella near an old boarded up warehouse. It was not in disrepair it was just not in use and the doors and windows were all in working order and secure. The walls were made of rough hew stone also and thus they would not be as hard to climb if need be. I had asked her to meet me during the day. Of course we could not practice on someone else's warehouse during the day but one generally did better if they did not go in blind. Indeed I never went in blind even with a rush job there was always some study to be done.

I continued down the street to the meeting place, coming upon it, I looked up at teh building, looking it over, and then looking around me to see if I could spot X. I almost didnt see him standing where he was, he truly kne how to blend into everything around him. It was kind of uncanny the way he did it. I smiled brightly and walked over to him.
"Good morning," I said, my salutation brighter than the last time I had met him.

"Good morning" I replied and then nodded toward the vacant warehouse. "Alright, that building is vacant but the locks and the like are secure. Let us suppose it is your mark so what is the very first thing you do?" I looked at her "and do keep in mind patience is a virtue."

I looked at the warehouse, and pondered his words.
"I would find myself a place that I can see and ensure that no one was inside or about to go in - check out the surroundings and the building itself from teh outside before even attemopting to go in," I said, hoping that I was picking up on this better than I thought I was, and that that was the right answer. It was what common sense told me to say, so I went with it.

“Not bad and pretty close” I dipped my head. “Better yet spend some time watching who comes and goes and their habits. Also you might do some other research asking about is good but can tip your hand. Often you can find many details though by researching public records and the like. All of these things are bits of information that should be gleaned before the first physical step is taken.” I looked at her “part of why I am hard to catch is because I take great pains to educate myself. I am a professional and not a simple lumbering cut purse and I take pride in that, that pride in turns keeps me from getting caught.”

I listened to every word, cataloguing the suggestinos he included in the steps to be taken prior to something of this measure.
"Right, that makes perfect sense," I said as I looked from him to the building. "So I guess we are starting today with just watching?" I asked. It sounded boring, but I knew that it was an important step and measure to take.

"Actually I already know the place is vacant and thus why it is good for practice." I smiled a bit "what would you suppose the next step might be?" I glanced at her as i asked my question. "You were actually pretty close to it on your first suggestion and I will give you the hint that what you said then is part of it all."

I smiled at his words, glad that I was on teh right track, and then I looked to the building before I looked back at him. "Well I would see which entrance provides the least reesistance and is mostly out of thepublic eye," I said, "and then I would enter in through that way," I added, biting my lip slightly, hoping I was not jumping the gun and had missed a step.

I nodded "pretty much it. Often the simplest entrance to get in is one upstairs" I looked toward the upper stories and smiled. "Owner's tend to put good locks on the first floor as that is where they expect trouble. Higher up there is less security as they do not expect trouble to come climbing. Also more guards and the like are on the ground floor generally speaking for similar reasons. Each case is different but that is a good rule of thumb. Another matter with climbing is that those on the ground who might see you like say the watch have a decided tendency to not look up."

I nodded, taking in the lesson.
"It would have to be a window then, since most buildings do not have doors on teh second floors, or any floor higher than the first, and it woul dhave to be a window that is big enough to fit into," I added, looking up at the building we stood before, "and one generally out of sight, in case someone does end up looking up for ome reason or another... so one facing an alleyway, or the back of the building?"
