Name: Talenon Shahrizai
Age: 25
Race: d'Angeline
Gender: male
Appearance
Imposingly tall and graced with all the magnetism of his only slightly diluted heritage, Talenon seethes with the uncontrolled power and destructive splendour of a raging inferno. Only his ice-grey eyes betray him as anything other than pure Shahrizai, but they betray him absolutely. There is something disconcerting about the gaze of those striking not-quite-blue eyes when set against a face made up of otherwise familiar aristocratic lines and the usual fall of glistening blue-black hair.
History
Talenon's early life was dominated by a father he had never met. His mother was Rosalie de Hardouin, of an inconsequential noble family, and his father, so she told him and everyone else, was none other than Lucas Shahrizai. Despite an ever-increasing certainty that their "great love affair" was little more than a short-term dalliance for Lucas, Rosalie remained utterly infatuated with him. Needless to say this, coupled with Talenon's distinctive looks, did nothing to endear the boy to Rosalie's husband, Auguste de Hardouin and Talenon passed his childhood caught between the smothering caresses of his mother and the persistent cruelty of her husband.
Some time after Talenon's fourteenth birthday, Lucas Shahrizai did indeed return ... not, as Rosalie believed, for her love but to see what had become of his only son, albeit his bastard son. Finding the boy somewhere between a spoiled darling and a quivering cur, he expressed initially his disgust, secondly his shame and thirdly his intention of raising him as befit his Shahrizai heritage. Scenes ensued but Talenon's fate was set.
Despite, or perhaps because of, his upbringing to say nothing of the very visible taint in his blood, there was little love between father and son. Talenon was introduced into the household as a distant cousin but his presence at all, the cast of his features and his watered-down eyes instantly revealed the truth to any who sought it ... not that anyone ever dared to say anything openly. And, although he was raised and educated as a Shahrizai, Talenon never came to be perceived as anything more than Lucas Shahrizai's ill-gotten bastard.
Surprising to many in possession of the facts, Talenon's closest friend has always been 'his cousin', Sirena Shahrizai. Outwardly he has shown no resentment that it was she who came to inherit the title. In fact he seems to be almost as devoted to her as his mother was to their father, even following her to the City.
He can be somewhat mercurial of temperament and rather fiery of temper, although he is not without charm when he chooses to exercise it. And even when it looks through grey eyes, not blue, the Shahrizai bloodline loses little of its potency.
