I tilted my head considering whilst under the table I lightly caressed her calf with my own. I still found the simple gesture horribly intimate for one reason or another and decided that I would not use up anymore of my brain power wondering why. “Well I suppose that speaks well of you accepting Terre d'Ange even though you have not spent much time here.” I picked my fork back up and took another bite before continuing.
“And the answer to your question is a bit along those same lines. Even though the family estates are considered the family home I have always felt more comfortable here in the City. Not sure why I suppose I like the hustle and the bustle.” I continued to caress her leg with my own under the table and was a bit thankful the table cloth hid it. Gods knew I had done much more in public but in this instance I liked the privacy.

His leg brushed up against mine just a little more fully and I felt the flush rise to my cheeks even as I couldn't help but return the gesture subtly and my smile flashed a little more teasingly for a moment. I was glad of the small bits of contact, even if they did make the temperature in the room jump slightly and my mind wander slightly from the dinner conversation to other things, but there was no crime in that. It just made things more interesting.
"I'm not the kind of person who rejects a place out of hand anyway, it's just not in my nature," I said after he'd finished speaking, my tone still open and cheerful. "But I haven't been to the country here yet so I can't say how I'll feel about being there. Maybe I'll have the chance sometime this summer but I'm not sure what's planned exactly. I'm liking the City a lot though, there's so much here that a person could never get bored. If you like it better here why do you go back to your estate at all?"

I finished up my meal while considering how to answer her question. Our ankles still slightly wrestling under the table and a bit of heat seeping into the gaze I cast her way. “It is not that I dislike the estates. They are indeed pleasant in their own way and if I am going to work on raising horses that is a better place than the City so lets hope they grow on me a bit more.” I smiled and saluted her with my glass of brandy before continuing to explain. “And the reason I split time is the estates are indeed my ancestral family holdings. To be blatantly honest they are also the source of my family’s wealth and income so even though they are my sister’s inheritance I fear it would be really bad form on my part to not at least put in an appearance from time to time.”
I sat my glass down and watched her a bit and I swore the temperature between us was causing the ice in my water to melt at an increased rate, but I tried to stay with the topic of friendly conversation. “Maybe if our ridding experience goes well you might like to visit back there with me? As we keep saying I am hoping to make some changes and improvements and someone to try out ideas on is always appreciated.” I punctuated my words with a little bit more intense stroke of my leg against hers before asking “and would you like some desert?”

What he said made a lot of sense and I nodded in understanding even as I saw the look in his eyes and smiled a bit wider for it, ducking my head slightly to hide the deepening of my blush. It was apparent that he enjoyed teasing me and seeing my reactions at least as much as I was enjoying his efforts and that seemed like a perfectly fair arrangement, at least until I turned the tables. "That's why I'm expecting that my sister will want to take a trip to Azzalle too, so she can look over things."
Raising my own glass to him I took a sip of wine and gave him a look from beneath my lashes that had just as much sense of heat and innuendo as his own had. "That sounds like something that would depend on how well the ride went, though I have a good feeling it'll be a rather fun one indeed," I told him in a lower tone as I slid the inside arch of my foot across his leg. "For dessert I suppose it would depend what's available and whether there's a surprise to it." It seemed like everything I was saying could have a sense of innuendo to it and I didn't mind that at all, especially with his reactions to them so far.

I chuckled as we continued to caress one another under the table. I had to admit I had not expected her to raise the stakes but she certainly had. And being a gentleman I could not let a lady have all the fun even if I was striving to turn over a new leaf. “Well I certainly enjoy a good ride and from the day so far I would say we tend to have some really good rides.” I picked up a menu and looked over the desert selection then.
I found something I wanted or at least that suited my purposes for the name games we were playing and looked up at her with just as sultry a gaze. “It appears they have flaming cherries jubilee. That is pretty good and I do like cherries not to mention flaming surprises unless you have some better ideas.” Still hidden by the table I reached out my hand and gave her knee a little squeeze.

The way he took the bit about the ride was almost as I'd expected and I bit my lower lip gently to keep from laughing outright and disturbing anyone, though I could imagine my cheeks were very, very pink for a moment. "I think the ride in a few days will actually involve horses though, won't it?" I asked in a whisper pitched just for him to hear, my tone still completely jesting and my smile just a bit mischievous. "At least at some point."
Once the topic turned to dessert I watched curiously and then listened at his ideas, quite clearly understanding where the innuendo that rested on the end of his statement and feeling my blood warm slightly at the look he gave me. When his hand came to my knee I was actually a little surprised, but not bothered- at least not so long as he didn't try to up the ante any further. I didn't really want to be taken too far in a restaurant, even if other d'Angelines probably wouldn't have seen much fault in it. Maybe that was my Serenissiman upbringing, but I wasn't going to discount it either. "I think desserts should be picked based on what sounds the most tempting and which thing you'd regret it if you didn't have," I replied in a bit louder tone than my earlier whisper, my own hand brushing along his own where it rested on my knee.

I pulled my hand back to myself and simply smiled knowingly. We had probably taken the innuendo on horses as far as we could or should. I kept our legs entangled though as I considered her words. “Well I have never really taken desert that seriously but the way you make it sound I fear that is a grave mistake on my part.” I watched the burn on her cheeks and her quickening breath and decided I would not let her completely off since I was rather enjoying the affect things were having on her.
I looked at the menu a bit more and caressed her leg a bit higher with my own leg. My voice lowering a bit but not whispering “so what do you find tempting to the point you would be filled with remorse” I looked up at her “if you did not have it?”

It seemed I was right in my guess that he enjoyed toying with me a bit, but I didn't really mind; that's what teasing was about and I wasn't so thin-skinned that I looked for things to offend me where no one intended there to be. "I didn't mean to seem so serious," I joked back, the flush starting to fade a bit from my cheeks as I adjusted to the nature of our conversation, the spark of mirth and playfulness in my eyes a bit more pronounced for it. "It's much more fun to keep you cheerful and light-hearted."
Though his hand had pulled away I could feel the touch of his leg higher against my own and I smiled as I glanced up at him through my lashes, then leaned forward just a little and brought a hand to the edge of the menu he held, tipping it just barely down so I could see him and the things listed a little more clearly. "Oh, I see quite a few interesting options," I teased, giving him another glance with just a bit more heat to it. "There was something I had before that was nice, maybe if I keep looking I'll see it listed."

I chuckled at that “well then do keep looking. I would hate to disappoint you.” In all seriousness I had already decided on some chocolate cheese cake. But I saw no real need to enlighten her on that at least not as of yet. “Of course there is nothing that says we cannot get something to take back to either your residence or mine.” I smiled a bit “I often find sweet and sticky things can be better enjoyed in private.”

Maybe it was a part of my nature to enjoy hearing the amusement of others so long as it wasn't directed at me, but the fact that he could take what I said in stride and continue to tease was a good sign as far as I was concerned and endeared him to me. "It's very hard to disappoint me and you haven't even started to edge in that direction," I told him as I continued to read the menu upside-down and spotting a berry compote tart that sounded interesting. "You're right about them being better in private though, it's so much easier to deal with any kind of mess that way." A flush came to my cheeks at that and I wondered if he'd hear the faint suggestion in my tone. It wasn't something I'd really done before but playing with food did sound like fun from what I'd heard about it.

There were more than a few suggestions if one looked deeper into her words. It all sent my mind to spinning in certain directions and I wondered if perhaps I had misjudged the lady a bit. She seemed to have a certain fiery edge which was actually quite welcome on my part. “Indeed shall we get our treats to go then?” I titled my head at her and kept a little grin on my lips. One might not think you could get terribly creative with cheese cake but I was nothing if not inventive and a few things were already wandering through my mind. Not to mention chocolate cheese cake came with chocolate sauce.
I folded my menu and sat it to the side. “And I think I have decided on my selection how about the lady?” I gave her a grin that was probably akin to a cat stalking a canary.

I could only imagine what he was thinking I meant and I flushed slightly at it but my smile stayed in place. Perhaps I wasn't used to the ways of d'Angelines yet but I never had a problem with being myself around my friends, or anyone else for that matter, and when I was interested in something I tended to make snap decisions about it. "I've made my decision," I told him with a light laugh, pushing a loose tendril of hair back and giving him a slightly teasing smile. "And I think to-go sounds fine, but the question would be 'where are we heading', wouldn't it?" After all it was still pretty early in the evening and likely just when dinner was being started at my house so there was always a chance Victoire would be home and she tended to be a little overly curious if given the chance.

I could read between those lines easy enough and so I smiled “well you hosted me this afternoon so it is only fair that I host you this evening yes?” It was a simple matter really and my residence did not tend to be as jovial as hers seemed. Though I had taken the first steps in settling the long simmering feud between myself and my sister only time would tell if it took.

"If you want to, I don't want you to feel like it's required," I told him sincerely. He'd mentioned he had an older sister earlier but the conversation about his family hadn't continued much after that so I didn't know whether or not they got along. "But I'd like that. Then I'll know where you live if I ever want to come along and bother you in the middle of something or other." The last was a bit of a tease because I knew that it was bad form to be a pest- but I did like to visit my friends and Matt and I seemed to be getting along very well. The other two people who had been my lovers had been my friends first and were afterward, though I'd not been with them each more than one night, and I wasn't sure if that was how things would work out this time as well, but I was hoping that it would at least be possible to stay friends if nothing more.

“My residence is really not an issue so we will go there. Julie and I both reside there but we generally stay out of one another’s way.” And I gave myself points for not even thinking of her as a shrew when I said that. “So it sounds like it is settled” I then waved the waitress over and ordered my cheese cake with chocolate sauce to go. I then waited for Noemi to place her order.

"Alright," I said with a smile, glad that he didn't seem to really object and still seemed keen to do so. Hopefully things would continue going as well as they were so far. When the waitress came over I gave her my order for the tart with sweet berry filling, also to be packaged to go with us, then watched her walk away before I looked back at Matt again. "Vic generally lets me do what I want too but she can be a little nosy at times and likes to see where she rates with everyone. Besides, she's generally considered the pretty sister and I'd hate for you to get distracted," I teased lightly.

I rolled my eyes “you are plenty pretty so you should not fret.” I folded my hands in front of me on the table and continued. “Julie and I have not gotten along in a very long time. I take after the L’Envers with my violet eyes and the like and she takes after the Montegue’s with her darker complexion.” I shook my head at the silliness of it all “so we were different at birth and have been going in opposite directions ever since. A lot of that has been my own fault and so we are now trying to put a bit of the strife behind us. But well she generally prefers not to note overly closely who I am seeing I think pondering her little brother’s sexuality traumatizes her” I laughed a bit at that.

I listened with interest to how he related to his sister, since it seemed like the sort of thing that would be good to know. It was far different from how I related to my siblings and even most of my cousins, but that was why families were interesting to me. "My sister and I look a lot alike in terms of coloring but she's much older than me and I was always the pest, but now we get along well," I replied with a smile. "But she does get curious about exactly what I'm doing and she worries a lot more about what people think. I can't really say what my brother's like these days since I haven't seen him in so long, but I don't think I'd want to know too much about who he was trysting with either," I replied with a light laugh. "It's good that you and your sister are trying to get along though. Sometimes your siblings are the only people you have."

"Well that is what older siblings do" I replied to her description of her sister keeping an eye on her. "It sounds like you had a pretty typical childhood. In my case my sister and I had some issues that go way back. We will see if they can be worked out as time goes on." I was not going to go into the details of Julie's scared hands and the like. I was sure though that Noemi would hear about it at some point if she was around much.

All I could really do, since it seemed he didn't want to talk about the issues between him and his sister, was give him a slight smile of sympathy. "I don't know if any childhood is 'typical' but I know that mine was good overall," I replied after a moment. "But now I'm an adult in most senses and it's up to me to make my own choices regarding most things. I just hope I don't make things any harder for anyone while I try to find my way."
Glancing up at Matt from beneath my lashes I laughed quietly and reached under the table to brush his knee lightly. "All of the sudden it seems like the conversation got more serious though," I said in a slightly teasing tone as I pulled my hand away. "But I did like to hear about your family. It makes mine seem a little less awkward in some ways."

I gave her a brush back as well as a wry smile "well when things come to my family they tend to get a bit heavy on the conversation side. Suffice to say it has not been roses and violets on that front." About then the waiter showed up with our packages and the bill. I thanked him and then looked over the bill before leaving it on the table along with an appropriate tip. I then got to my feet and moves to pull out Noemi's chair for her "Shall we?"

It seemed as though his family had a little more strife than my own did, but perhaps that was how things were here for the most part. Vicky and I had spats from time to time, that was true, but in the end I really believed we were there for each other. Would being in this land change that? As Matt paid the bill I pushed those kind of thoughts as far away as I could and then gave him a smile and a nod as I rose. "I think we shall," I said in a playful tone as I picked up the package I guessed to be mine and held it lightly. I wasn't sure how long of a trip it would be back to his house but it wasn't as though getting around the City was that strenuous anyway, and our walks so far had been a lot of fun.

She picked up her package and I picked up my own and then offered her my arm before heading toward the door. “This will work out well since you got a chance to change clothes but I am still stuck in the same garments.” It had been a rather bold move on my part going to such an upscale establishment without changing first. But with my improved outlook on such things I was finding that I was not overly concerned about such matters anymore. As I thought on it, it was a rather refreshing point of view. That made me smile a bit as I opened the door for her.

I took his arm lightly as soon as he'd offered it and smiled at his statement, nodding in agreement. "That does sound like the most fair way to do things," I replied in a cheerful tone, completely sincere in regards to that idea. I may have been a princess and I did like to look my best at times but I also wasn't so stuck on my clothing that I needed to worry about it overly much. True beauty and grace came from the inside anyway, didn't it? So far Matt hadn't given any indication that he thought otherwise so it must be a safe enough assumption. When he opened the door for me I gave him a sideways glance and smiled as I stepped through, then waited for him to indicate where we were going.

As we exited I noted that we had very well killed off the entirety of the day. It was not pitch black but the sun was certainly setting and the air still had that fresh spring smell about it. I glanced at my companion “I hope you did not have anything overly important to do today. I seem to have kept you all day and am now working on the night as well.” I did not really know if she planned on spending the night but I certainly would not reject such an idea. It was rather pleasing in some ways as the day had passed much faster than any time I could recently remember probably because I was out and actually doing something as opposed to sitting around and brooding.

"I generally have my days pretty much open, there's not much that's ever really required of me most times," I admitted with a bit of a flush and a smile, glancing over toward where the sun was setting against the horizon. It wasn't very easy for me to admit at times that I was pretty much left to my own devices because I would rather have been helping. Being pushy with my sister wouldn't have made it any better though. "So I end up finding my own things to do anyway, like taking more dance classes or getting pets, or just wandering. Maybe in that way we're alike a bit."
