More things to wear [Josette]

[Noemi de Trevalion]

When the clerk turned to me I handed mine over with a bright 'thank you' and a smile, then watched her walk away toward the dressing rooms before I looked back at Josette with a wider grin. "I hope that's the case, having something to look forward to sounds very nice indeed."

“Do you have plans on when you’ll visit?” I asked, wondering a little if she would prefer to go alone or if company might make it better. I moved to a rack of green dresses and began to look through them.

"I know I'm supposed to go and see the Houses with my sister and my cousin but I doubt that means it'll be the only time I go," I replied with a smile as I followed her over to the green gowns and pulled out one that was a light, shimmering spring green satin with bell sleeves and a V-style neck.

“Oh, that is gorgeous,” I told her. “I bet it looks fantastic on you.”

"I'll just have to try it on and see then," I said in a self-assured tone as I put it over my arm neatly, the soft fabric sliding freely against itself. "What about you, see anything that just screams 'Josette'?"

[Josette Bradamante]

“Not yet,” I said with a chuckle. “But maybe I’m not listening hard enough.”

[Noemi de Trevalion]

"Maybe I should whisper to give them more of a chance," I suggested in a faint tone, eyes flashing with humor and my voice filled with suppressed laughter.

[Josette Bradamante]

Chuckling, I tilted my head to listen.

“Nope, nothing yet,” I said, grinning. “Somehow I think the screaming for me may come at our next stop.”

"And what is our next stop?" I asked curiously, my voice returning to its normal volume and my hand absently smoothing the gown currently across my arm.

[Josette Bradamante]

“Oh, I thought we were headed to Sujet ala Mode next,” I said. “If you’d rather not we can go another time.”

[Noemi de Trevalion]

"No, I think that sounds just fine," I told her honestly. "What kind of clothing do they have there?"

[Josette Bradamante]

I glanced at her, then back at the gowns. We had discussed this over our meal, when we decided where to go.

“The clothing there is more daring,” I said, as I picked out a gown of bright grass green with white lace accents. “Sometimes it’s just fun to try them on and imagine where you’d wear it.”

[Noemi de Trevalion]

"That's right," I replied with a light laugh after she'd had to repeat herself. "I'm sorry, I guess all of the looking around drove it straight out of my head. I agree with you though, it's a lot of fun to dress up and imagine what could happen- but surely there'd be somewhere to wear it. In Serenissima there were parties all of the time."

“Oh, it’s the same here,” I said as I handed the dress to the clerk to have her add it to my pile. “It seems there are at least a dozen a day.”

[Noemi de Trevalion]

"I hope I learn the trick to finding them then, I love parties," I replied with a bright smile. "Maybe once I know some more people I'll find the key to that sort of society."

[Josette Bradamante]

“Well, it seems to me that there are plenty of open fetes so that would be a good place to start I think,” I said. “If I get any invitations I would be more than happy to bring you with me so you can meet others.”

[Noemi de Trevalion]

"I think that would be a lot of fun- and when I start getting invitations to fetes and the like I'll bring you," I agreed with a grin. Likely the ones I went to were going to be a bit larger anyway but there would still be a good deal to enjoy from them anyway.

“That sounds like a perfect plan,” I said, smiling.

I glanced towards the dressing rooms. “Shall we go try some of these on?”

"That's the only real way to know they fit, isn't it?" I asked in a jesting tone, eyes flashing a bit in humor. "The changing rooms are toward the back, aren't they?"

[Josette Bradamante]

“This way,” said the clerk who had been handling our gowns. She showed us to the back, pointing Noemi to one room and me to the one just across the hall.

“See you in a flash,” I said, grinning at Noemi and then ducking into my room to begin trying things on.

Nodding in understanding I ducked into my own changing room and closed the curtain, trying on the gowns I'd picked out and checking how they fell in the mirror. None of them seemed to fit so poorly that they couldn't be altered by a clothier when I got the chance and all of the colors seemed to suit me. Besides, I needed more d'Angeline clothing to offset the Serenissiman gowns I already had, at least for wearing around the house.

I tried on a couple and then found myself in the one with the silver panels and couldn’t decide if I liked it or not.

“Can I have your opinion on one?” I asked, my voice loud enough to reach Noemi.

The violet gown was still on me when I heard Josette's request for assistance and I smiled slightly, quickly starting on the laces so the gown would stay up. "I'll be there in just a second," I called back in a tone loud enough to carry across to where she was and tying off the stays as neatly as I could, then making my way out of my changing room and over to hers, where I scratched on the fabric to let her know I was there. "Alright, it's me. Want me to step in or are you coming out?"

“I’ll come out,” I said, drawing the curtain aside and stepping out into the hallway. The skirt of the dress was full enough it would have made it difficult for her to join me in the dressing area.

“I am not certain what to think,” I told her.

Cocking my head sideways slightly I took her in, looking at the way the color contrasted her skin and the glimmer of silver over the skirt. "Well, when you were dancing the silver would really stand out," I replied with a smile. "If you like it then you should definitely get it, I think it would cause quite a stir if you want people to notice you."

[Josette Bradamante]

“Well, I am never against people noticing me or causing a stir, so that settles it,” I said with a grin. I looked at her and the gown she had on. “Oh, that is lovely on you.”

"We're young and life is about having so fun, why not make a stir?" I asked with a mischievous grin, then smiled more warmly and turned around slowly to let her look at the gown I was wearing. "Thanks, I'm glad you like it. Maybe with a few extra embellishments I can wear it to some of the more formal parties."

“Oh absolutely,” I agreed with a smile. “There are plenty of places around here to find embellishments too.”

[Noemi de Trevalion]

"Maybe on another day we can go looking for those," I suggested with a grin, smoothing my hair back over my ears. "Was that the last one you had to try on?"

“One more, but I am fairly certain I will like it. You?” I asked.
