Post by Fin mac Ahern (R) on Jul 1, 2009 16:52:29 GMT -5
Name: Finnian (a.k.a Fin) mac Ahern
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Height: 6’0
Race: Eiren/Alban/D’Angeline
Home Country: Alba (Innisclan)
Appearance: Fin is handsome, more so then some of his kin, and it’s probably because of his D’Angeline heritage. It seems to take the rougher edge off his appearance which often comes in the form of a reddish beard. His hair is a darker blond, with the lightest hint of red which he keeps shorn close to the scalp. He’s more slender then most, though he is not lacking for muscles, he just seems unable to keep as much weight on then his Eiren or even Alban kin. Though he’s quite pale, he tans easily and quickly, leaving him with a healthy glow during the summer months. His eyes are a soft sea grey that reflects a smallest amount of green as well. Unlike his kind, Fin is considered short for his age, something he hopes will change soon enough.
History:Finnian is the son of Ahern, the 4th child and only daughter of Brennan mac Granine, Lord and Prince of the Dalriada. Fin, as he’s called, was raised at Innisclan with his mother’s family. Ahern was a bit of a wild child, her parent’s bore her late in life and it made her a little more distant to those in her family. As it were, Ahern’s mother was also not the same as the first three of Brennan’s children, which made Ahern even more separated. Though her brothers loved her well, and there were no issues around the fact they shared only there father in ancestry, the age difference between them meant that her brothers were already mostly grown by the time she was born. The brother closest to her in age is nearly 8 years older then she.
Consequently Ahern spent much of her life reading about the world outside her own, learning languages and myths, using her imagination to play outside by herself. An often solitary creature, she always seemed eager for adventure. At seventeen she informed her parents that she would be setting out into the world to find her way, and in a dramatic fashion, left to head for Bryn Gorrydum. Her plan was to study there for a while before traveling to Terre d’Ange, but she never made it that far. Turns out Terre d’Ange came to her, in the form of Rowan. Fin’s father was of Alban and D’Angeline descent, Rowan’s mother had been a Servant of Naamah that tended to the wounded soldiers at Troyes-le-mont, and Rowan’s father had been a solider. They fell in love and returned to Alban soil where she gave birth. Ahern and Rowan spent much time together, he taught her to speak D’Angeline, and she shared with him her knowledge of the Dalriada myths and legends. Just before Ahern’s nineteenth birthday she gave birth to Finnian.
Truth be told, it had been a bit of a surprise when Ahern had found out that she was with child, and it wasn’t much in the way of fortuitous timing either. Rowan had long before took up his mother’s calling to become a Priest of Naamah, just before they met he made plans to take his year of service to Naamah and travel to Terre d’Ange to do so. Deciding that he should wait for a time he did till the birth of Fin. There life seemed fairly normal, and Fin was loved greatly by his parents. Rowan decided to take his year of service while the boy was still young and return to have a family with his son and Ahern.
But it was after this that things changed. When Rowan returned he seemed to pay little attention to Ahern, and only a small amount of attention to his son. From a fairly young age, Fin witnessed the decline of happiness as he mother and father seemed to be falling apart. In hopes that things would change, the three moved back to Ahern’s family’s home at Innisclan. For a time things did seem better; but at four years old, Fin remembers the breaking point came after a storm blew into the fortress. He’s not sure even to this day, way things happened the way they did, but that was how they happened, and it forever changed his life. The storm ravaged a crop, and in the middle of the rain his parents argued, screaming and yelling in D’Angeline, Eiren, and Alban. He remembers watching them as the dark clouds billow behind them, the rain battering down. That was the last time he saw his father. The next morning he hugged Fin and told him how much he loved him, and then left, never to look back.
Fin doesn’t remember much of his father and really the only reminisce of his father’s legacy, is Fin’s good looks and his ability to speak D’Angeline rather fluidly. His mother became different after that night, calmer, quieter, and isolated, often found talking to herself. Because of this he was raised mostly with his kin, cousins, children of his mother’s brothers and other relatives. He’s always been thankful for this because what would have been a potentially devastating childhood turned out to be a wonderful experience.
True to his lineage on his mother’s side, he was raised as a true Prince of the Dalriada. Though he had no real power or title, he was still a member of royal kin and afforded all that that entailed, he speaks Eiren, Cruithne, D’Angeline, Caerdicci and a bit of Aragonian.
Fin was a happy child, laughing and playing with others his age, pulling pranks on the girl and fighting with the boys. When he was old enough he began to work in the fields with the others, learning manual labor and well as husbandry, which came strangely easy to him. He found he had a knack with horses and because of that was often teased by some of the other boys. To counter balance that Fin became better then passing at the sword and his grand father Brennan would tease that it was his Alban grandfather that gave him such a steady swing. Fin is not overly studious, rather then reading, he’d prefer to discuss topics of interest till the wee hours of the morning.
Five years ago when the up rising began in Alba and the Cruarch slain, Fin had been there and helped his Alban kin in the fighting. Because of this, and how he was raised, Fin is an often serious young man and speaks of things that belay his eighteen years. But despite this he’s always one to enjoy a good laugh, his voice often ringing louder then those around him. He’s also still very much a prankster, and it’s often women of his affection that see this side of him. He’s can shy when it comes to the opposite sex, so he finds that teasing them in such a manner will make it easier to show his true affections. For the most part though he is quite the playboy, taking complete joy in any sort of activity in which he can be intimate with a woman.
Now at the age of eighteen, Fin has decided to do something that he had never really thought about before. At the some what urging of close friends, he’s decided to travel to Terre d’Ange, to go to the City of Elua and study at the academy there.
