“Thank you,” I said, glancing down at my gown. “I got it at a shop in the Palace District, I can give you the name later if you’d like.” I smiled and stepped inside so that she could greet her next guest, not wanting to cause a bottleneck at the door.
I entered the parlor and glanced around, wondering if I would know any of the other women here.

"I would like that," I responde witha smile, letting her pass by me. I watched her walk away as she entered the parlor and greet ed the next woman, a lovely woman with flaming locks that made her look rather exotic.
"Pleased to meet you and welcome to my home," I offered, "I am Andraiya," I said with a curtsy.

"Thank you, Andraiya," I said. "I'm Alora d'Aiglemont, duchess." I wasn't sure how well she'd react to me putting my title before my name, but I knew adding it would have been important nonetheless, so I added it at the end.

I smiled, though I had heard the rumours surrounding her family and the matriarchal Shahrizai carrying the heir, and was not sure whether she truly was a duchess. Besides, it did not really matter as I hoped all the ladies, regardless of title, would mingle as equals. I moved out of the doorway and let her inside. "Pleased to make your acquaintance. I hope you are ready for tea!" I said. It looked like she was the last to come and so the doors would close and the evening would start.

I smiled. "Pleasure to make yours as well." I walked in and followed the sounds of talking. I had wondered if the other women had heard the same rumors I had about Ana carrying Uncle's true heir and me really being the duchess of the estate. Well, let them wonder. I knew what Ana and I had discussed when she told me that she was pregnant. And the agreement was fine with me.

I followed Alora in after closing the door securely behind me. The other ladies wee sitting and standing, and Charity was flitting about the room. I smiled at the ladies as I entered.
I made my way over to the side tables that donned the steaming pots of water and the covered bowls with a variety of loose leaf teas. Charity saw me enter, and with a more solemn face, she came to my side, awaiting my direction. The din was a quiet one and so I could speak over it.
"I wanted to thank you all for coming again, truly. It has been some time since I've hosted a tea party and really have found the City lacking in this little frivolity," I said wtih a soft laugh. "We've a selection of teas for the affair. Charity will go about and ask how you take your teas while we all sit and talk," I said softly.

I looked up at the hostess as she entered and greeted us all. Taking her words as an invitation to sit, I did so, taking a place on one end of a couch, intentionally sitting where it was likely I would have others around me to talk to. I had to stop being so withdrawn, even if I had to force myself.

Once it appeared that everyone was here who was coming, I found a chair near the window and settled into it. I was usually more outgoing, but in Serenissima things were different, and I was always worried here that I did not quite know the proper etiquette for things. I had taken to waiting and watching, which felt strange to me, but then again I was rather exhausted of late, so perhaps it was for the best that I step back and see what was expected of me before I spoke out of turn.

Once I'd gone inside with my sister and Sophie I looked around the house with a smile, noting all of the lovely decorations and art that seemed to fill the place and letting myself silently absorb the scene before I turned to listen to our hostess as she spoke. It seemed she'd gone to a lot of effort for everyone and while I knew that some people did so simply for the sake of having important guests I didn't want to assume that was the case here. Victoire seemed quiet and I glanced back over at her before smiling and lightly nudging her arm. "Let's go sit down, that way we can see who else is here," I said in a light tone. My sister was so sad lately, and I could understand why, but that worry wouldn't make anything better. We were doing all we could, Christien would understand that. "And look at that painting, isn't it fantastic?"

I walked into the sitting room to see that a number of other women of high standing, three were Princesses of the Blood. I looked around for an open seat and took it. Andraiya had gone to great lengths for this party and it seemed that so far, it was well received. I wasn't well versed in knowing the names of those gathered here, I was otherwise busy with getting into a routine at my duchy. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the women brought the subject up.

I had greeted Victoire warmly, but as we entered the parlour I found myself separated from my cousins. It was no matter though, and I sat down on a couch also occupied by a woman in a strapless gown with a floral motif. "Hello. Sophie de Trevalion," I said as a way of greeting, and open smile on my face. Something about her face tugged at my memory, but I clearly had not been spending enough time at court.

I moved from the doorway, watching as the women began to sit, and sat myself on the couch occupied by Leyna and Sophie. It would not do for me to stand and loom over everyone. Charity knew she was to serve the guests before me and so she circulated, taking orders for tea, whether the guests would want a cube of sugar or two, and cream added to their selection. She had a good memory, even for a young girl, so I knew that the task would be taken care of.

“Leyna de Somerville,” I said to the woman who’d sat next to me. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Sophie,” I added with a smile.

"It's my pleasure as well," I said with a smile. "Though I think perhaps we met when we were much younger? Your face is familiar." The girl came by to take our order, and I asked for vanilla tea, one sugar and a healthy splash of milk.

“Yes, I think we may have,” I said, nodding a little. Then I gave my order to the girl; lemon tea with a little honey.

As we were all called to sit, I smiled at the woman and half turned, indicating I would walk with her to sit somewhere while waiting for her reply, not wishing to be rude.

I sat there and watched the other women begin to converse with each other. The young girl who Andraiya said who would take our orders came over and I asked for tea with a hint of honey.

It was good to see that everyone was getting along, and I moved from my seat to walk over to the red haired woman - Alora - to see if she would like a discussion. With a polite nod to the ladies who were speaking beside me I moved to Alora's side with a warm grin. "Your gown is a lovely shade, it suits you very well," I said, my head tilted slightly to the side as I regarded her.

"It is my pleasure," I said graciously before seating myself next to her. "I am just glad you and so many of the women showed today. Truly with all that has happened in the City as of late it is a welcome nicety to sit together and relax over tea and conversation," I said with a grin.

"It's lovely to see you too," I smiled warmly to her as we sat. "It's good to see another Azzallese face here, but I have to admit, I miss the countryside at times."

"It is nice to relax with tea and talk." I held in a sigh. Maybe it's because I'm too like Uncle to take part in social things like this or it's something else. Either way, I wasn't up for this right at this moment. But I wasn't going to walk out just because of that.

I smiled, though she seemed a little down. I wsa not going to pry of course, twas not my place to do so, but I did rest a gentle hand on her shoulder for but a moment and gave her a warm smile. "Please, feel free to mingle, there ar many ladies here and I garner they are rather nice, like you are," I sid with a soft laugh. At that moment, I heard a knock at the oor. I glanced to Charity who glanced to me and put down the cups she was preparing and delivering. I raised a hand to her, signalling that she should stay and turned to Alora.
"Please if you will excuse me, I am going to go see who is at the door," I said and rose, curtseying shortly before I made my way otherwise unnoticed from the parlour. I thought that all who had been invited had arrived, but perhaps there were other ladies who had heard and thought to invite themselves. Of course, if such were the case, I would play it off with niceties, though it urked me to think that someone would show up this late who was not invited.

“Well, thank you,” I said, not allowing myself dark thoughts.
“It’s been a change since I came to live here in the City. How have you been?” I asked with a smile.

Seated and with my order of tea given, I smiled and began studying the people around me, recognizing several faces. I wasn't sure who a few of them were.. but then, I wasn't sure either who my hostess was in the end, though she seemed quite lovely. My hands folded across my lap, I waited for the tea, placid and gentle in my demeanor.

I nodded and watched her go. I noticed one woman sitting by herself and decided to see if I could strike up a conversation. I stood and walked over. "Good afternoon," I said with a curtsy.
