Character Played By (the person in your avatar): Aaron Eckhart
Name: Donatien nó Cereus
Title: Dowayne of Cereus House
Age: 46
Race (Lineage Origin): D'angeline
Gender: Male
Height: 6'
Home Province/Country: Namarre
Appearance (1-2 Paragraphs): Hair the color of age-dark honey, Donatien stands at a solid six feet high, but rather than a particularly thin or bulky frame, he lays somewhere in the middle, always having been lean. His features have aged well, and while other Dowaynes his age might have little lines upon their face, Donatien in contrast does have them, but wears them well, in a becoming way.
Personality (1-2 Paragraphs): While Donatiens hair isn't quite as pale as Cereus house might otherwise have wished, his skin a little tanner than the others, he makes up for it with his pure spirit, a shrewd eye that has no little dollop of kindness. He is known to sit with an adept or an apprentice, helping them even on his off time, knowing that their success is the success of Cereus. Donatien is very loyal, kind, and while he is not afraid to be stern, he is most often patient and gently humorous.
History (At least 2 detailed Paragraphs): History: Born to a Bryony adept whom had committed a number of sins that had had their name stricken from the books, Donatien might have been destined for failure from the beginning, to a life of struggle and hardship. His father he'd never known, but in faint memories he recalled his mother speaking fondly of him, never touching they subject of why he left, only that he was no longer around. Living in the Nights Doorstep, Donatiens mother kept him with her for the first four years of his life until she began to concede to the obvious; she could not keep him, could not give him the life he deserved. With her heart in her throat, she took him to Cereus House under the guise of a fake name, keeping her face down and eyes always averted, hoping not to be recognized.
Donatien was a pretty child; outgoing and with a zest for life, he stood looking at the Dowayne eye for eye, and whatever the older woman saw there must have been good; after a short debate between Donatiens mother, she accepted Donatien into Cereus House, his name marked down in the books.
It took Donatien a long time to accept his mothers actions; he wasn't angry and bitter, but he missed her, didn't understand, and frequently wished he could leave the House to go see her again. She never visited; all contact was ended, her only way of trying to protect him against her past transgressions. When Donatien was thirteen, the Dowayne sat down with him and reluctantly told him why his mother had done what she had; surely, the Dowayne had known at the time she'd accepted Donatien just whom his mother was, but the child was special enough to overlook it and pretend she did not know. Slowly it sank into the child, and he began to accept and move past it, to grow and embrace the House that was his family.
His debut went very smoothly, and at nineteen his marque was completed, but there was never a choice for Donatien on leaving or staying. In many ways he was Cereus house, and upon the untimely death of the Second, the aging Dowayne chose Donatien as her successor. The Dowayne herself died seven years later, and at the age of twenty six Donatien became the Dowayne of Cereus House.
