Name: Emelius nó Alyssum
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Height: 5’7”
Race: D’Angeline
Home Province: City of Elua
Appearance / Personality:
Emelius has an otherworldly nature about himself, almost. He has pitch black hair that he keeps neatly combed and parted at all times, yet this is true for the rest of his appearance. Hardly a stain nor a blemish is featured on him and he seemed to make sure of that, noting even the smallest of details and ridding anything he can call blameless. While his features are rather dark, his eyes stand out as a sharp and piercing blue. To Emelius, there is no such thing as ‘casual’ clothing, even when heading out to run errands in the market one can always assume that he will be dressed in the best way to honor his house. He holds himself upright, back straight like a soldier and nothing seems to phase his emotions, which are always contained, cool and appropriate for the situation.
Emelius is most certainly a perfectionist, a young man with slightly OCD qualities when it comes to getting things done the right way. He is nowhere near shy and is quite blunt to speak his mind about things, though he does not say it in an attempt to be rude. He is the kind of man to remark on the poorness of a haircut, then sit one down and tend to it himself. He is gifted in many household tasks from cooking, mending clothes and cutting hair, not even seeming to have an issue to do so for his patron, if so inclined. One might easily mistake him for a servant of the upper class with the way that he conducts himself, the kind of man who can slip in, fill a glass of wine and easily slip out without being noticed. Because he knows his place and often does not voice his blunt opinion to anyone other than those of his similar standing or those he has a relationship with, he is the kind of adept that is easily overlooked and not because he is shy like the canon of his house, but because he is not the kind of man to want to attract attention to himself.
He is extremely polite to those he does like or has neutral emotions towards, but has a strange sort of venom-like bite to those he is annoyed with. Not that he curses or uses slandered language, but even his insults can be quite eloquent, his words chosen perfectly to insult without particularly insulting someone. He is not particularly social, though he is not against friendship. Such a thing is merely hard for him to come across, as in tune with his thoughts as he is. He’s the kind of man who has to always keep busy, no matter how sick he might be in order to prove his own worth to himself and to his House. To him, that is the most important above all else.
While his strong, forward and unshrinking personality is not typical of his house, he most certainly belongs in Alyssum for he is quite uncertain of situations in the bedchamber, even now. Being a perfectionist, he strives to do everything that is expected of him, exactly as it is expected of him, except there are hardly any rules of that manner. While he is good at reading people and analyzing situations, it seems he cannot do so in such situations, as they make him uncomfortable and for once, his eloquent train of thought and speech are broken.
History:
Emelius was born as Emelius Laserge, a bondservant who served under the same household that his mother and his father both worked under. His entire lineage was nearly all servants, even after said bond was eventually paid off, many chose to continue to work under their lord or lady. And such was the way for Emelius who began training in household duties at a young age under the household of Duchess Rosenburg. It was she who first recognized the boy’s fair features, standing out considerably from his siblings and even from her own children. After one of her house guests tried to strike a deal with her to buy Emelius’ bond, many remarking in having extreme interest in the child’s future, she realized that taking him to the Night Court for further inspection was a wise decision. So it was at age eight, almost nine, that Emelius Laserge was taken to the Night Court and was bought by Camellia house, one that sought perfection above all else.
Considering the fact that his childhood learning to be a high class servant had been ingrained in him, Camellia seemed like a perfect fit. Even as a child, he was particular about getting things done properly the first time, watching and learning studiously and practicing what he could until perfection, even if the duty was nothing more than a chore. Unlike other children his age, he did not mind doing chores, often times picking up where others had slacked off, but he did not mind, as ever slightly OCD about his behaviors, everything had to be done just right. However a few weeks after debut, he was moved to Alyssum when it became clear that the perfection in his actions in household duties and the way he held himself was not transferred over to the bedchamber. Trained as a young child under the Duchess’ manor to continually be respectable, professional and contained, the passionate and intimate ways of the bedroom was a place that made him turn away, red faced.
His placing in Alyssum, for those who had shared a night with him is more than certain, but his outwards rigidity, boldness and blunt ability to speak his mind seem out of place. However, he doesn’t mind in the least, taking assignations when it is called of him and working what he can around the house when not. Oftentimes this gets him mistaken as something other than an adept, but his manner of upholding himself is always professional and to a point.
