Character Played By: Edward Norton
Name: Mahieu nó Bryony
Title: Adept of the Night Court
Age: 23
Race (Lineage Origin): d'Angeline-l'Agnacite
Gender: Male
Height: 6'0"
Home Province/Country: l'Agnace(City of Elua)/Terre d'Ange
Appearance (1-2 Paragraphs): A dark-haired man of middling height, Mahieu has a nearly-constant mischevious grin on his lips, and a matching glint in his alert, dark gray eyes. Broad-shouldered and with an athletic build, he moves with a grace that makes him seem much more careful than he actually is. His marque, done in stark black black outline alone, winds its way along his spine, reaching nearly to his shoulders, close as it is to complete.
Typically, Mahieu can be found wearing white and black, with the occasional silver highlighs. He tends toward gauzy shirts that hint at the physique that lies underneath, as well as revealing glimpses of his marque in the correct light.
Personality (1-2 Paragraphs): Sly, talkative, and fiercely competitive, Mahieu has always striven to be the best, even before he was fostered to Bryony house. This attitude was only encouraged when he was taken into its fold, where it was found that he had an aptitude for games of skill over those of chance, though he has learned to play them all and has a decent head for odds. Still, he prefers contests where the skill of the participants is what determines the winner and loser, and hates to lose.
History (At least 2 detailed Paragraphs): Born to a family of farmers in the countryside immediately surrounding the city of Elua, Mahieu spent a good deal of time in the city as a youth, wandering the streets and often getting lost when he would accompany his father there on business. It was on one such trip that his life would change forever. He'd spent the afternoon winning footraces against some tsingano youths in Night's Doorstep, his competitive streak pressing him to outdo them in nearly every contest. Seemingly, it embarrassed the youths he was racing against, enough that they demanded their money back, and when he refused, it seemed as if he were about to take quite a beating.
What none of them knew was that a Bryony adept had been watching the races with great interest, taking in the sight of the beautiful d'Angeline youth refusing to lose time and time again. When things seemed to be going downhill for Mahieu, she emerged from the teashop she had been watching from, and threatened to call the guards if the tsingano youths did not leave. She then escorted the young farmboy back to his father, and asked him whether he would be interested in his son fostering in house Bryony.
Over the next several months, Mahieu, the youngest of seven children, and his parents met with the Dowayne of Bryony, who tested him in various ways to determine whether he would be a good fit for the house. Young Mahieu relished the challenges, and when the offer was made, he begged his parents to take it. Seeing an opportunity for their youngest son that they knew they would not be able to match, they agreed.
