Appearance (1-2 Paragraphs): At 48, Lucan is still in good physical condition. He is a strongly built man with broad shoulders and sturdy legs. His hair is a rusty red and he keeps it cropped close to the scalp. His bristly stubble is also red, though at 48 both hair and beard are now greying. He has warm blue eyes and a strong chin, and is quite handsome when he smiles. Even when he is happy, though, the death of his beloved wife weighs on him.
Personality (1-2 Paragraphs):
Lucan is a practical, steadfast man. As a husband he was dedicated to his wife; as a father, he is devoted to his children. In his youth he loved to hunt and fish, but as he is getting older he prefers to spend more time indoors with a good book. Lucan is honest and thoughtful, with no head for dissembling or craftiness.
History (At least 2 detailed Paragraphs):
Born during a time of relative peace Lucan was a well-rounded individual, devoting himself equally to studies and more active pursuits, and after the death of his father inheriting the Duchy of Rousseau. When matters of estate took him to Marsilikos he met Anna de Mereliot and after an acceptably long courtship they were married while in their 20's. It wasn't until Lucan was 30 that the couple had their first child, Lessandrie Aloysia, destined to become the Lady of Marsilikos. He immediately loved his daughter as a father should and gave her the nickname Louie for her middle name, which became something of a joke between them.
When he was 42 Anna became pregnant again and gave birth to a boy named Laurel, dark-haired and much more rambunctious than Louie, and the family felt complete, but it wasn't to last. Four years after Laurel's birth Anna was dead of a long-lingering illness. Pushing aside his grief Lucan threw himself into caring for his children, helping Lessa get her bearings and making sure Laurel was well. He took charge of the education of his children and exposed them to knowledge from around the world, though he never put too much pressure on his children. When it seemed that Lessa was going to become a complete shut-in he was the one who suggested she go to the City and make new connections, and he is still glad that she's done so and looks after Marsilikos in her absence.
