Character Played By: Unknown Model
Name: Leon Charles d'Essoms
Title: Comte d'Essoms
Age: 18
Race (Lineage Origin): d'Angeline-Namarrese
Gender: Male
Height: 6'2"
Home Province/Country: Namarre/Terre d'Ange
Appearance (1-2 Paragraphs): A tall, slender d'Angeline youth with fine, fiery red hair that falls just past his shoulders and clear blue thoughtful eyes, Leon is, on the surface, what many foreigners might think of as the 'typical' d'Angeline lordling. He has a smooth, handsome face that can be quite expressive, though he normally has a very serious demeanor about him. Not particularly graceful in movements, he does manage to avoid awkwardness of movement, at least, but he will never be accounted better than a fair dancer. Leon's clothing is normally at least a month or two behind the latest fashion, and he tends to favor darker colors with golden highlights.
Personality (1-2 Paragraphs): Leon is not exactly shy, but is also not particularly outgoing, though his lack of social experience can make him shy under certain circumstances. He is a studious and analytical sort, but a bit naïve, particularly as it relates to politics and courtship. Due to a lack of facility for dissembling, he is also rather open and honest. In the last several months before arriving in the capital, he has also grown to be rather uptight, though it remains to be seen whether this will be a permanent development in the young man or not.
History (At least 2 detailed Paragraphs): Leon was never meant to be in charge. Born third to Charles d'Essoms, the eldest son of Childric d'Essoms, he was not the heir to his father's Comte, nor was he the second son to be given over to the Cassiline Brotherhood. So, as he grew older, he was more or less left to his own devices by his father, and when he began to show an aptitude for scholarship, a Hellene tutor, trained in the university of Tiberium, was brought in by his mother to teach him. Young Leon studied history, philosophy, and languages, and absorbed it all like a sponge. He also began to learn how to play the harp and learn at least the rudiments of swordplay, as she did not want him to become too bookish. By the time that he should have been going to the City of Elua to begin taking part in the game of courtship, however, he was on his way to the University of Tiberium along with Cyrek, his longtime tutor.
It was here, away from his homeland, in such a purely scholastic setting where the young d'Essoms began to blossom, at least in his own way. His brilliant academic mind had a place where it could truly be honed, and in the next couple of years, it was. A time came, just before his eighteenth natality, that a message from home came. In and of itself, this was not a huge occasion; the news that the letter contained, however, was truly tragic. His father and eldest brother had contracted a plague that was making the rounds at the family estate, and it seemed that they would not make it. The letter urged him to come home, which he immediately made preparations to do.
So Leon passed the natality of his majority aboard a ship bound for Marisilikos, where he would wait safely for word that the plague was passed. After passing a week there, the messenger came, and he left for Namarre and home, where he arrived in time to help bury his father and brother, and to receive the news that Edwin, the second born, intended to keep his Cassiline vows. This left Leon as the new head of the household, and an ill-prepared one at that. With his mother's help, he was able to figure out the management of the estate's resources easily enough, but he was hesitant to step into the world of politics. With time, however, and several lectures from his mother and Cyrek, he saw that he had little choice but to make the attempt; their lands did not exist in a vacuum, and he still had need of finding a bride at some point. So it was that he began to make preparations to journey to the city of Elua, leaving his mother to see to the estates and to continue raising his two younger sisters.
