Laughing lightly I kept pace with Sebastien as we moved past a few flower beds, the colors blending together in a sort of graceful harmony. This really was a beautiful place and I was glad that I'd decided to come out and see it. It wasn't too long before I could hear the fountain myself, and then it was in sight, the statue in the center a pair of dancers that held bowls out of which the water spouted. "Wow, it's lovely," I said in a breathy tone, smiling widely.

“Yes, it is,” I agreed, smiling at her as we moved to the edge of the fountain. This close, the splashing water drowned out nearly all other noise.
“The detail is amazing,” I said, indicating how the tips of the dancers’ hair seemed to be lifted by a non-existent breeze.

"All of the art here amazes me, there's so much detail and life in it," I replied as I looked at one of the dancers and moved closer to the fountain, grinning slightly as I matched one of the poses, leg slightly raised and body following the natural line of it before I stood flat on my feet again. Maybe all of my ballet lessons were good for something after all, if only for appreciating this beautiful fountain.

I watched her as she imitated the pose of one of the dancers.
“Do you dance?” I asked her curiously.

Flushing slightly I smiled and nodded. "Any time I can," I admitted, laughing quietly, and pushing some hair behind my ear. "Ballet as well as the more courtly kind. What about you?"

“Oh no,” I said, shaking my head slightly. “I never learned.” I chuckled a little. “I spent too much time out in the fields.”

"Well, I think if you did learn you'd be good at it," I told him with a grin as I moved toward the fountain and then took a step up onto the side of it, balancing on its edge idly. ""Or I can teach you if you ever need to know how for a fete or the like."

“I can’t imagine I’ll get invited to fetes,” I said, chuckling as I watched her. She looked very natural up there with the other dancers.

"Well, if I throw a party I'm going to invite you and I always make sure to have dancing," I teased lightly, walking along the edge one foot in front of the other with my arms held slightly out to keep my balance. "And I bet you'll have a lot of girls who want to dance with you."

“Then I guess I should learn how, so that I don’t embarrass you since you are going to be kind enough to invite me,” I said with a grin.

"If you want me to teach you my door is always open," I replied with a grin of my own, glad that he wasn't rejecting the idea completely. He was a fun, interesting man and I wasn't at all hesitant to call him a friend already. "Or I could always teach you now, but I know not everyone is as spontaneous as I am."

“Spontaneity I have plenty of,” I replied with a smile. “We don’t have any music however.”

"That's true, and I don't have the kind of voice that you'd want to hear try to hold a tune," I admitted with a light laugh. "But it's too bad, I think you'd be fun to dance with."

“Well thank you,” I said with a surprised smile. I thought for a moment. “I can hum fairly well, but I am not sure I could keep it up while trying to dance. We could always venture out and try to find somewhere with music.”

"That's probably a better idea, there's less to try and keep up with that way," I replied cheerfully, and then his surprised expression came to mind and I cocked my head slightly. "Did I say something wrong?"

"You just looked a little shocked or surprised for a moment and I wasn't sure why," I replied in a good-natured tone. "And I always thought it's better to ask and take a chance on looking silly than to not and risk offending someone."

“Oh, it was just when you said I’d be fun to dance with,” I told her. “No one has said that before, and it caught me by surprise.”

"That actually surprises me in turn," I replied with a smile, cocking my head slightly. "Were there not many chances to dance where you're from?"

“We had festivals for events such as Longest Night, but most of the dancing was done in groups – circle dances – or by others,” I told her. “I never really thought about dancing formally.”

"Well, it doesn't have to be formal to be fun, and I've never seen a group dance like that so I suppose we both thought of something new today," I said with a grin, taking a careful step over to another spot on the side of the fountain and holding my arms out just slightly for balance. It wouldn't have been necessary with bare feet but since I was wearing slippers I didn't have quite the same grip on the stone.

A light flush came to my cheeks at the compliment and I smiled at him brightly. "That's really nice of you to say," I told him sincerely. "I hope it is, though I know I'm not nearly as good as those who make it their profession. It's fun though, and it makes me feel graceful and pretty so I hope I do the skill some justice."

“Well, considering that you are graceful and pretty just walking around, I am certain you are a credit to all dancing,” I told her, smiling.
Stepping closer to the fountain, I offered her my hand. “Shall we go find somewhere with music so I can start my lessons?”

His words caused the pink in my cheeks to brighten just a bit and my grin widened. "I think that you're trying to get me to blush with all of your charming words," I teased playfully as I took his hand and stepped down, using my other hand to push some hair behind my ear. "But I don't mind, and I've been told I blush too easily anyway. Maybe I'll build up a tolerance for it. And I'd love to find somewhere with music, though I don't know the City well enough to have somewhere spring immediately to mind. Do you have any ideas?"

I thought for a moment as I also enjoyed just how nice her hand felt in mine.
“Well, there seemed to be plenty of taverns in the city, or I recall hearing there is a music room open to the public here in the palace.”

"Either of those is fine with me," I said with a smile. "The music room of the Palace is closer but I don't mind going to look around the City some more either." My hand was still clasped in his, not that I minded, since it seemed a common enough sign of friendship and simple affection here and Sebastien was turning into something of a friend already.

“Which do you think is more likely to have less people in it?” I asked, chuckling. “I don’t want to be an imposition on anyone with my stumbling at the beginning.”

"I haven't been to either place in the City yet so I'd say we start with the closer option and take a chance on it," I said after a moment of thought, nearly brimming with eagerness that probably showed through my smile. I did love to dance, and I liked helping new friends. That he was handsome and nice was certainly a nice circumstance too.

“The palace it is then,” I said, returning her smile as I kept hold of her hand and headed us back down the path we had traversed before.
“Have you been inside the palace?” I asked.
