And now they were both topless.... I drew my hood back, for it was suddenly rather warm in the drafty inn, and tried not to stare as I continued to drink my mead. The back of the most recently bared was to me, and I could see his finished marque all too clearly. Eisheth but it made me think inappropriate thoughts.

"I love these adorable little stories you come up with to explain things," I joked as I rolled my eyes, bringing my arms behind me and locking my fingers behind my head once I'd set my mug down again. It was obvious Keegan had noticed something and I gave a glance around, then one over my shoulder to the nearly-blushing girl behind me, and gave her a smile before I looked back at my friend. "So, how are we judging this contest anyway?"

“Well, you and I both know I am better looking than you, so I guess we need an impartial judge, or more if we can find them,” I said, grinning. My eyes went back to the girl at the bar. “I know one person that seems interested in the contest.”

Oh gods, one of the shirtless men caught me looking. I gazed determinedly into my disappearing mead, and made myself think about what I was drinking. I hadn't truly tasted it yet, too caught up in handsome men. Maybe I needed to visit Satori again, I was reacting to these men like... well, like I hadn't been with someone in too long.

"I don't know any such thing you delusional madman," I told my best friend with a roll of my eyes and a grin before I took another drink, then glanced back over my shoulder where he was looking. "She's pretty, and that's almost better than impartial," I continued with a grin and a light laugh as I glanced at Keegan again. "Do you want to ask her or should I? Maybe I would be better, your ogreish features may scare her off."

I sauntered into the Cockeral, my usual haunt, seraching - but not really searching - for a mark, someone who would share the pleasures of the flesh, my flesh, in return for their coin. I was cloaked and in a rather low cut dress, but still it was tasteful, the colour a soft green which complemented my skin tone.
I drew back my hood upon entering, but was surprised how my eyes went straight to the pair up shirtless men. I raised a brow, wondering what in the seven hells could be happening here tonight. Never a dull moment in the Doorstep. I smiled, cat-like, and walked up to the bar, listening and watching.

“And your fetid stench isn’t going to drive her away?” I replied, my eyebrows going up. I noticed a woman entering the room, it was hard not to notice as her assets were well displayed by her gown. “You’re likely to cause everyone between here and there to pass out.”

"Then shall we see?" I asked with a grin as I started to stand up. "Or would you as the Second like to officially propose the contest to the beautiful lady? I know you probably need every advantage you can get."

“No, go right ahead,” I said, magnanimously. “I’ve had to come behind you and clean up your mess so many times that it just feels like the way of things now.”

"You and your imperfect memory. I suppose that comes with age," I joked as I finished standing, took another drink of my mead and then set my mug down. "I'll be back."
With that I started over toward the bar with a grin and sat down next to the blonde woman who now seemed to be doing her best not to look too long as the table I'd just been at. There was a faint flush on her cheeks but it didn't seem to be from shame. "Good evening, my lady," I said in a cheerful tone. "I was wondering if I could ask for your help with something." My tone was open and friendly and hopefully this wasn't all some huge joke by Keegan to get me slapped. He'd have loved that.

I watched Jules but once he sat down my attention turned to the other woman who’d entered. She seemed to be less shy than the blonde, at least from her clothing, and I wondered if she would be willing to play our game.

I had been doing my best not to stare, which meant not looking in their direction at all, so I was surprised when one of the adepts came over and started talking to me. "And what would that be?" I asked in return, knowing not to agree to something without question. I smiled a bit though so that I didn't seem unfriendly. Though my blush had returned. It was hard to keep my cheeks from heating with a half naked man so close.

She looked absolutely charming with her flush and the small smile that moved over her features and I smiled back a little more widely, then leaned closer as though letting her in on a secret. "Well, my friend is certain that he's easier on the eyes than I am and I'm supposed to find an impartial judge who can make that sort of decision. You're so pretty that whoever lost would still be glad to hear it from you so I thought you might be willing to help. Could you do that favor for me?"

I was conscious of every inch closer he moved, for it felt like he should feel the heat radiating from my skin. "I-I think I could manage that," I said, stumbling a little over my words in the face of his charming grin.

"Then you've made my night, my lady," I said in a cheerful tone, noticing her flush and the way her words caught but not really trying to make her any more discomfited than she already was. After all, I did have a heart and it was easy to see that she was somewhat enjoying the view and somehow a little uncomfortable about that. With another smile I stepped back a bit and offered her my hand to help her rise. "Come over and sit with us then, and I'll buy you a drink."

Not wanting to stumble over myself any more than I already had, I simply smiled and took his hand, rising gracefully. I left my glass, it was near to empty anyway, and he had promised me more. As well as a little bit of a show. It seemed that as long as I didn't turn so red that I caught fire, there was no way to lose in this particular scenario. "I'm Hélène."

Once she'd stood I gave her a smile and raised her hand to my lips, lightly kissing the back of it before I started to lead her toward the table where my lazy friend was still sitting and preening. "I'm Jules, and I have a feeling you can guess what House I'm from already," I teased gently as I showed her over, then gave Keegan a smile as I pulled out her chair. "This is Keegan, and he's not as frightening as he looks, I promise."

My attention returned to the first woman as Jules led her to our table. I rose and bowed.
“It is a pleasure to meet you,” I said, smiling. “You are obviously a kind and generous woman if you’ve managed to stand Jules talking to you for this long.”

I watched as one of the shirtless men left the table, ordering myself a cheap glass of wine, and noticing how the other seemed to glance my way. I let my fingers dance across from one shoulder to the other, over my prominent decolletage as I looked at him, raising an eyebrow and glancing from him to his companion as he walked back to their table with a blonde haired woman.

"It's nice to meet you and Jules both," I said with a soft smile. I got a feeling that the two men had known each other for a long time, the ribbing seemed almost second nature to them. I sat in the offered chair. "Though I'm reserving the right to be frightened for a later time, just in case."

“If you are not frightened by Jules’s stench, then you have nothing to fear from me,” I said with a grin.
As I sat, I glanced back at the dark-haired woman, my look an open invitation for her to join us.

"He says things like that to cover his own insecurity," I told Helene in a good-natured whisper as I glanced over at Keegan in a mock-offended manner. "Otherwise he couldn't make other people laugh for the crying he'd be doing." With that I sat down in the chair I'd occupied before and gestured for the bar-maid. "What were you drinking? I did promise you another one after all."

"Mead, thank you," I said. It was impossible not to look at bare flesh, it was as if handsome men were completely surrounding me. Not that I minded much, but it did cause my cheeks to heat. "So what brought the two of you out tonight?"

“It will be a full moon soon, so I try to get Jules out for one last night of fun in case he doesn’t survive his transformation into a wolf this month,” I answered with a straight face before taking a sip of my drink.

His words caused me to chuckle. Honestly, I was surprised I could, given my mental condition right now. "That's kind of you," I said.

"And these are the sorts of stories he tells himself to cover for the fact that I get so much more attention than he does. Always keeps us entertained, Keegan does," I jested back, rolling my eyes slightly in a playful manner as I gestured to the barmaid to bring us all more drinks. "Besides, look at that scruffy beard. If anyone's showing signs of being a werewolf, it's him with that bit of rat hanging onto his chin."

“Indeed,” I said, smiling as I stroked my chin idly. “And really Jules, everyone can tell you are jealous when you say things like that. I mean really, you don’t need to be so obvious.”

"I don't know if I'd say I was jealous just because I like my fresh-faced, handsome features left exposed where they can be appreciated," I replied, my eyes flashing subtly as I reached out and lightly brushed a fingertip across Helene's smooth-skinned cheek. "And not leaving girls with rug-burns all over their face is a nice side-benefit too."
