Character Bio for Mal nó Jasmine
Name: Mal
Age: Sixteen.
Race: D'Angeline, with prominent Kusheline features and mannerisms, as well as the obvious Bodhistani blood she carries from her mother.
Gender: Female.
Height: 5'1.
Home Province: The city of Elua.
Appearance:
Whether there was a divination of the future at the time of her birth, or the girl merely strives to live up to her moniker isn't certain, but it's without a doubt that Mal is certainly an appropriate name for the young Jasmine adept.
Inky black tresses streaked through with hints of gold frame an oft-smiling face, though the smile is less than entirely pleasant at best, and downright sardonic most of the time.
Deep blue eyes reminiscent of a midnight sea are framed by darkly curling lashes and contrast startlingly with her dusky golden coloring. She is by no means tall, standing just a bit over five feet, but she bears the soft curves of her femininity well, almost disdainfully.
History:
An orphan of the Night Court, it's generally known to those with access to these things that Mal was rather unceremoniously delivered to Mont Nuit at the age of seven. As could be gathered, her mother was once a Jasmine adept, long since having left the Court to travel. Sensing some grave and yet unnamed peril, it'd been the wish of this mother that should anything befall her, the child be delivered to the city of Elua's Night Court to be raised. It came to pass that the ex-courtesan did meet her untimely end some time later, and so Mont Nuit became the new home of a future adept by the name of Malona, though no surname was mentioned, nor father named or even hinted at.
After the initial flurry of activity surounding her dramatic arrival life settled into an easy routine for the precocious young girl, avid in her studies and petulant with any who sought to keep any information she deemed neccessary from her, whether it be how to perform a complicated cross-stitch, trade routes between Elua and more distant cities, or what color beaded necklace looked best with a printed linen sheath in the evening. Age ten came and went, and with it to no one's great surprise came her dedication to Naamah. What was surprising perhaps was the House she'd ended up in.
Jasmine. Many who knew her had been certain she'd end up at Mandrake, her penchance for reducing younger males to near-tears wasn't a secret, and in fact her antics were often encouraged, the flirtatious yet cold arrogance of the young beauty an accepted part of her persona. Still others had leaned toward quite an opposing view, certain the servant would fit in quite nicely at Valerian. This was no doubt a more popular view, as it was well-known that while the younger males bore the brunt of her often painful attentions, her elders were treated with near deference. Indeed the girl would go out of her way to please one older than she, and before she grew wise to the ways of her own manipulation she often found herself at the mercy of older apprentices, be it relatively harmless pranks or often tear-inducing harsh language. Regardless the outcome of these interactions though, it was fairly obvious to all those involved that she relished the attention, and with her dedication to the pursuit of pleasures from one extreme to the other, it was perfectly fitting that the girl be tutored in the arts of House Jasmine.
Her dedication to her studies never waned, though she did take a turn in regards to her preferences, a talent for dancing not quite as pronounced as would be found at Eglantine, an avid interest in wine and food preparation, and a kinship with horses that rivaled even her closest friendships with other people. She fit in well with most of the other apprentices, though she did develop, or perhaps nurture, a mean streak that caused more than a few temper flare-ups and usually short term hostilities, though she was always careful to make ammends before any outright grudges could be fostered against her.
Having reached the age of consent in the summer of the first year of Queen Sabrina's reign, Mal's debut was a quiet affair arranged well in advance and carried off without much ado.
Settling into her new role of Adept, Mal nó Jasmine aims to make a name for herself in her House, without too much scandal along the way.
