The Temples held a special meaning for me, and I found myself wandering by them even when it was not time for me to meet with Abigail to peruse one. They reminded me of her, and I found myself thinking of her often, though innocently, to be sure. She was so nice, and so sweet, and to think any sort of leacherous thought. Well I had never thought anything of the sort of anyone, really. I suppose it was odd, I had been told so numerous times. But that was just part of being, not all of it.
I had just passed the Hospice coming from the Sanctuaries, feeling light in mind and in heart. I was in a peaceful place, and my lips smiled of their own accord, a pelasant smile that matched my jaunty steps. Though it was winter, which gave me little to do for anyone's land, ti was still beuatiful. And the City was still so varied to me that I was not bored. I just wish I had someone who would explore it with me. Of course, I could not impose myself on Abigail any more than I already did. She had her own life to lead, but a companion to talk to would have been nice.
I stopped before the Hospice. it was quiet, and a sad place, or so I thought. I only wished that I had the abilities, the natural afinity to healing like those from Eisande, that I could make myself useful there, but alas, I had not. I looked upon it a little while longer, while I walked, not watchign where my footsteps fell.

Winter itself was hard pressed to keep me inside, the feel of walls closing in around me coming all too easily. The down side was that winter did seem to keep most others inside, or at least in the taverns.
Today, I was unable to cope inside and had headed out as soon as breakfast was done. Bundled in my cloak, I headed to the Temple District, knowing there would be lots of open spaces and I could feel closer to nature.
I’d walked enough to smooth my edges and was feeling more myself now. I was headed down a street when a man wandered into my path, not noticing me, I guess.
I stopped waited to see if he was going to veer back or if I should go around him.

I turned just in time to see myself about to walk into a dark haired woman I stopped abruptly, wide-eyed and surprised. I did not remember seeing her up the lane. It was as though she had materialized out of thin air.
"I... um...," I said, stopping, taking a step back to let her pass. "Sorry I should have been paying attention."

“No harm,” I said, smiling. “It’s easy to get distracted around here.”

I smiled brightly. "It really is. There is always so much to see going on, its marvelous," I said, chuckling. "I am a recent arrival to the City, if it wasn't obvious," I admitted. "Henri Legard of Camlach," I said , extending my hand to her, and then thinking better of it, I retracted it and bowed instead.

My but he was handsome when he smiled. “Josette Bradamante, of Namarre,” I said, smiling and curtseying. Then I offered him my hand to shake. “It is a pleasure to meet you, Henri.”

I smiled that she did not laugh at me and extended her hand after curtseying. I took it in my own and shook it, not too hard of course, before drawing it back. I noted how her skin was very smooth, and then blushed that the thought had even entered my mind.
"Might I ask, where were you headed when I nearly ran into you?" I queried with a grin, sticking my hands in the pockets of my breeches as I did.

He blushed and it was so sweet I could have just kissed him right there for it. I kept my lips to myself for the moment though and just smiled.
"Nowhere in particular," I answered. "I just needed to be out in the air and this is always such a lovely place to wander. You?"

"I am not really headed anywhere," I replied. "I come here every now and again because I find it peaceful, and beautiful, and it holds some nice recently made memories," I said wtih a soft smile. "Sometimes the hussle and bustle of the Artisan's District or the Palace District is just too much for a country boy like myself," I said with a chuckle. "And so I come here to take in the beauty without the clutter. Would... you mind if I walked with you, Josette?"

"Oh!" I exclaimed, not expecting that at all, I smiled widely. "Well, excellent then!!" I offered her my arm, as was the gentlemanly thing to do, and waited to see fi she would take it.

"Hmmm," I mused as she took my arm, and I smiled, much like an idiot, no doubt. "I feel a little daring. Perhaps Night's Doorstep?" And then I thought that mayhap she would think that I was a simpleton to put her in danger. "I mean, if you want... I would never want to put you into a dangerous place... I ... maybe the Artisan's District instead?"

“Night’s Doorstep sounds perfect,” I said, giving his arm a little squeeze. “I am all for being daring.”

I chuckled. "Well good then, I can count on you to save me should anything go terribly awry," I teased lightly with a soft smile.

I laughed, finding it easy, and finding my nerves to be lessening a little as we walked.
"I bet you never thought you would see the day that a Camaline man would ask to be defended."

“I believe anything can happen,” I replied, still smiling. “Perhaps you are only pretending to need defending to make me feel better.”

I chuckled and shook my head.
"Oh, if only that were true. I am about as useful with any implement of weaponry as ... well... as perhaps a deer might be if armed with a bow and arrow, with only hooves to make it work," I chuckled at the analogy, though I blushed that I did not have much use in that department. In Camlach, a man was defined by his skill with the sword. "However, if we are accosted by a withering plant," I said with a grin, "I am certain I could nurse it back to full health without much problem!" It was my saving grace. I helped things live, not die.

“Well, as I see it if everyone was just good with swords and nothing else, then we would live in a very barren and sad world,” I said. “Being able to bring beauty to the world as well as feed and nourish it is far more admirable.”

I could feel my cheeks heat as we were of the same mind, and I grinned.
"Thank you," I murmured softly, hanging my head as I let my gaze fall to the ground. "I am glad that you see it how I see it." I raised my head and looked at her. "So what do you do here in the City?" I asked her, wondering if she had an occupation.

“Pretty much whatever my whims drive me to,” I said with a chuckle I had never known a man who blushed so much. “You?”

I smiled, letting my eyes fall away from her to the ground as we walked.
"Well, as yet nothing, but I hope to try to find a position as a gardener somewhere," I explained. "I do hate being out of work, but for what I have experience in, there is not much I can do around the City in this weather."

“Have you tried at the Night Court?” I asked. “All of the Houses seem to have immense gardens. Or the Palace?”

The mention of the Night Court made me fiddle a bit with my hands before I ettled them at my sides.
"No, not yet, though my brother has mentioned both of those places as possibilities. What I would like more than anything would be to work on the gardens in the temples, though I am guessing they have acolytes who do that, and the palace probably already has a very good gardener, same with the Night Court, but I was hoping to approach them during th warmer months... though perhaps there is something I could do for them in the winter. I am not sure," I mused, realising I was babbling I dropped my gaze again, "sorry, I have a tendency to go on and on," I said wtih a chuckle. "I have not been to the Palace, really, or the Night Court," I explained.

“I’ve been to both, and in truth I have seen more people working on the gardens at the Palace,” I said, thinking. “Now that I thinking about it, at the Night Court it almost seems the adepts do a lot of the work, or at least that is the impression I got.” I shrugged and smiled at him. “It can’t hurt to ask though, could it? All anyone could say is no and you are no worse off than right now.”

I smiled at the way she thought of it.
"Very true," I grinned, "and thank you for the information! I think once spring hits I will try to seek a meeting with the Palace gardener... or someone there who I can speak with. It would be nice, I think, to see people come and go in their finery, and enjoying the grounds, and knowing that I had a hand, even a small one, in that bit of happiness."

"That would be lovely," I said, thinking on it. "The gardens at the palace are massive, I can't imagine they don't need an army of gardeners."

I chuckled softly at the irony of her choice fo words. "Army of gardeners indeed!" I said, chuckling again. "I wonder how possible it would be to maintain a job here and still be able to tnd to my family's lands. Probably not very, wouldn't you say?" I asked, finding suddenly a little rut in the otherwise perfect idea of seekign out employment a the Palace.
