Wanted to see if anyone wanted to play his father or younger brother. Mom won't be in the picture to much longer, so don't really need anyone to play her.
For Avatars... I'm pretty open, but if you could find someone who looks like they belong to my Kadaj avatar.. that would be cool, but I wouldn't require it. Especially since that might be kind of difficult. Final Fantasy 12 had a younger main character, and there is always Sepheroth from 7 (for dad) but.. like I said... not a requirement. I have never really envisioned what dad looked like and brother could always take after him. I have had Idaeus as being more like mom (look up Lucretia from FFVII Dirge of Cerberus).
Brother: I don't really have much on him, he would be 16 years old and as far as he's concerned an only child. Though, that would change at his mother's funeral. Ideaus' mother hated him, but she didn't repeat the abuse with her second child. Her husband didn't want any more fiascoes and threatened to divorce her if she caused him any more problems. She would have hired nannies and a milk nurse (when he was young) and let them raised her child. Daddy works 24/7 so is pretty much never around. I have no first name.. so this character is pretty open.
Father: Thibault La'Cordaire de Chaton Cristal
Age: 51, though a very energetic and healthy 51 year old. He has the life he wants, for the most part (he ignores pretty much everything except what concerns business) and happiness makes you healthy.
He fell in love and married at the age of 23 to a woman who had just came into her families money by a series of suspicious deaths. Many thought that she was at fault but no one could prove it. Thibault couldn't care less if she had or not. He was pretty sure that she would not kill him. The two were madly in love and married after a short courtship of 4 months. Life was grand, though his wife, Priscilla was proving to be a little stranger by the day. Two years later they had their first child. Priscilla wanted something cute and Thibault wanted a heir. The first child was, thankfully, a boy. Thibault left the child with his wife to care for, though she soon proved to lack the skills. He hired some help for her and set back to his business.
Fast forward 10 years later. Thibault has had very little dealing with his son and has slowly gone to pretty much ignoring his wife except for when he wanted to parade her as a trophy. This was fine with her since she was free to do as she pleased. They had money aplenty (though Thibault did keep a handle on her spending) and she had lovers aplenty. Thibault has a family of another rich man that he is hoping to get into business with over. His son causes a scene, but his wife seems to take care of the problem. She leaves with him for quite some time, but returns before the guests leave alone. She tells them that she sent Idaeus to bed.
After everyone is gone Thibault finds out from a servant that his wife has almost killed their son. She not only beat him, but took flachettes to his back, and not with the skill precision of a lover. The boy almost bleed to death, but well paid emergency medical attention kept his son alive and assured that there would be no loose lips.
Thibault is concerned with the drama between his wife and son so he decides to send his son away. Having a child go into the service of Naamah is not unheard of. He told his wife to take care of it and to make sure that his son understood the value of his silence. Before sending him off Thibault meet with Idaeus in a rare meeting of father and son. He told Idaeus that it really would mean a better life for him and that if he did tell on his mom that Thibault would make sure life was not so easy for him. Idaeus told him that he had no intentions of talking. Thibault did not know it but the 10 year old was already planning on vengeance against his mother, and not something as lame as telling on her.
Thibault ends up with another son soon after Idaeus is sent away and he makes a point of paying more attention to things this time. I threatens divorce if she pulls the same sins as she did with her first son. She leaves the babe to the nurses and nannies and ignores him almost completely. This is fine for Thibault and he keeps the second son busy with tutors, expecting his second son to fill his shoes when he is gone. He practically forgets about his first son, who is only a vague memory in the rare moments he has time to let his mind wonder.
Thibault is a shrewed business man with money in a few different enterprises. He had family money and land to start with and the addition of his wife's estate made him quite rich. He invested in shipping and soon owned his own shipping company. On the record he only owns one, in reality he owns three. The company on the books is straight laced and proper. One of his companies is more a band of pirates, though they smuggle more than anything else and ship on the blackmarket and tax free. The other rides in the middle, some legit and some under the table for merchants trying to avoid taxes. Both have well paid faces who are the owners in paper though neither are truly smart enough to run a shipping company. They are smart enough to know that if they are ever caught they should never voice the name of their real employer.
Thibault also owns land in two different areas of Terre d'Ange. Neither are vast, but they both pay. One is a gem mine that has mostly dried up. Thibault uses it to help cover his extra income. More gems are exported than really exist. The other exports various herbs and produce, some uninteresting, a few worth a little money due to how difficult they are to grow. He is able to export them outside of Terre d'Ange with a generous markup. His farmers of course have no idea how much money he is making off of their work.
You can look at the minor plot with Idaeus' "Exit from Mandrake" plot to see what role your character would have to play. Once Idaeus is out of Mandrake though, you are pretty free to do what you want... short of kicking Idaeus out to the streets.
