Late in the 3rd week of Winter; Year Two of Queen Sabrina's Reign
After spending time with Azabel I realized that I didn't have much in the way of friendship here in the city. I was vaguely friends with Elliot L'Envers but probably not as close as I could be. It made me think about how much time I spent actually gathering friendships as opposed to acquaintances. So in the evening one night I decided to go out in hopes of finding friendship with some of my peers. I took my carriage and headed to the Lord and Lady Inn, hoping that I would find friends this evening. I entered into the establishment and found myself a seat at the bar, ordering a pitcher of ale and a mug before pouring myself some and sipped it slowly.

The Lord and Lady Inn... I had not visited it in the months that I had passed already in the City, had not even known about it until I had heard it mentioned in a restaurant while I had unintentionally listened in on a conversation that took place at the table beside me. A place in the Palace District, for those of nobility. I walked in, my hevay cloak about my shoulders, until I took it off and handed it to the man who beckoned me. I nodded with a smile, looking about the establishment. It was finely decorated, and had a propritary air. Even the maitre'd had an affected air about him, and though I did not normally flock to places like this, it seemed to have a certain charm and warmth about it, even in its austerity. And, it had a bar!
I smiled, waving the offer of a fine table off as I approached the bar instead, sitting down to the left of a dark haired man.
"What will you be having my lord?" the bartender asked.
"Whiskey on ice with a pinch of lime, if you please," I said with a grin before settling into my seat with a soft sigh.
The bartender looked like he was about to move but then faltered, like he wanted to say something.
"What is the matter?" I asked, furrowing my brows.
"Well you see my lord," he said with an apologetic smile, "the season does not really lend itself to limes... perhaps something else?"
I felt my cheeks heat in embarassment, and chuckled. "No, no you are right. Perhaps warmed whisky with cinnamon. Forget the ice, of course." He nodded and then I settled fully into my seat.

I slowly sipped my ale, thinking over the event in the last week; the arrival of my children, my new found friendship with Azabel... and I had been so lost in thought that I almost hadn't noticed a man sit down next to me. "Evening." I said with a soft smile and a slight nod before I took a sip of my drink and looked forward.

The man beside me, who I saw out of my peripheral vision, turned to me, perhaps a little offhandedly, but smiling, and wished me good evening.
"Good evening to you too, sir," I said with a smile as he turned away. I was about to say more, bringing a pointed finger up, but then stopped, unsure of whether it was wise. Perhaps he was only wishing me good evening out of good manners. I sat back on my chair turning towards the bar, but then thought better of it and went back to pointing, mouth agape to talk, but realizing then, that I had nothing interesting to say.
"Lovely weather we are having!" I said out of a need to save face, more than a need or desire to discuss the weather. I did not wish to look like a dolt.

I glanced to the man next to me at his comment and chuckled. "Is that sarcasm?" I asked with a little half smile out of amusment.

I chuckled shortly as he responded, the bartender bringing me my warmed, spiced drink. "Although crisp weather is nice at times," I said wiht a slanted grin as I turned to the man beside me, "yes that most certainly was sarcasm," I smiled a little more widely. "I myself prefer the warm weather of the summer months." I cocked my head slightly, "and you, what of your preference?"

I chuckled agains and nodded a little. "I prefer the summer months myself as well, they just seem more productive then the winter." I said with a smile then took a drink of my ale. "Though I have to admit I enjoy the rain, so it would take it over snow any day."

"I agree,"I said nodding, then taking a sip from my glass. The mixture warmed from the inside out and made me feel pleasantly at ease. "Far more productive, and even in the rain, more can be accomplished," I replied. "and it is more social. Now no one wants to leave the comfort of their homes or the warmth of their fireplaces."

I chuckled again and nodded. "Indeed." I said smiling, then decided I should be polite and introduce myself. "I'm Delaunay." I added by way of introduction, deciding to leave title off of it.

"Castiel," I answered with a wide grin. "I am what you could call new to the City. From Kusheth... in fact," I murmured, furrowing my brows, "your name seems familiar," I said with a grin. "Do you hail from those parts?"

I chuckled again and nodded. "I do, my family comes from Kusheth... so to speak." I said and took a sip of my ale. "My full name is Delaunay de la Courcel de Montspan." I added as I looked back to him. I figured it would probably be easier for me to simply say my name then to explain to him my heritage and still remain ambiguious.

"Ahh," I said, nodding. " I knew the name sounded familiar. The City is so... different... from Kusheth, is it not?" I asked. He probably did not want to go on and on about his title, or be treated too lofty, and so I did not change my demeanor towards him, sipping my drink as I awaited his answer.

I drank down another sip of my ale before looking to him. "To be honest I don't spend much time there, the estate is from my mother's father and I wasn't very close with him. I've spent more time in Siovale then in Kusheth." I chuckled a little.

"Ahh Siovale," I said nodding. "I have spent some time there as well. Also very lovely but, of course, since I hail from Kusheth..." I let the trailijg off of my words and the light hearted shrug of my shoulders tell the rest of the story before I took a sip from my glass, only to find my drink done. I tapped the bar, two subtle taps, when the bartender looked over, and he nodded. I smiled and brought my attention back to Delauney. "Ah but the City. It is so different from the other provinces, regardless of which province one hails from. And the women here," I said chuckling, with a wink, before I laughed at myself.

I chuckled softly and nodded. "I think that can be summed up with the presence of the Night Court." I said with a smile in return. "Have you ventured there yet?" I was curious at his experience and what he thought about it. Not that I wanted to be intrusive mind you.
