I held Emilia as I stepped out of the carriage, then settled her more comfortably once I was on the ground.
“Welcome to your second home,” I told her with a smile, then smiled at Elliot. “It’s kind of nice to be back in the City…. for a little while at least.”

When Caraf suggested we travel to the city I was happy to oblige; as much as I loved the estate, it tended to be dull during the winter. This would also give Caraf an opportunity to spend time with her friends, and a chance for us to introduce Emillia to court.
"Well it will be here for the winter, theres far much more to do here." I said as I exited the cab of the carriage to smile at Caraf and our sweet daughter.

Emilia smiled and waved her fist at Elliot; she always smiled when she saw him or heard his voice.
“Indeed, and far too many we need to show off our lovely daughter to,” I said, chuckling.

I was looking over the house as Caraf spoke, but turned my attention to our infant child making a surprise face before reaching out to tickle her cheek. "Yes I think the Queen will want to meet Emillia before we introduce her to any one else." I said with a smile, still focusing my attention on my daughter. "Its too bad that Evie's spending the winter in Kusheth, I know she was looking forward to meeting her."

“Perhaps she’ll come to the City for the Queen’s wedding,” I offered with a smile. “It would be nice for Emilia to meet her.”
The hem of my skirt rustled as a cool breeze swirled around my ankles. “Shall we go inside and show her the inside of the place as well?” I asked with a chuckle.

I smiled and nodded to Caraf about Evie returning for the Queen's wedding. "Oh yes, lets get inside." I said with a little chuckle and scooped Emilia out of Caraf's arms as I began to make noises and walked toward the house. Once inside I spoke momentarily with the steward and then turned to Caraf as I bounced our bundle of joy. I had sent word a head of us to make sure the house had been turned out and ready for our arrival. "What will you do first now that you're in the city?" I asked her curiously with a smile.

“Shop,” I teased. “I am a sovereign duchess after all; I must keep up with the latest winter fashions.”
I sobered for a moment. “In truth, I am going to try and see Joie de Mornay. I know she and Jess were close, I’d like to pass on my condolences,” I said. Word had come of Jess’s death not long before we had left. I still had trouble believing it. It seemed like just last week she had been the bridesmaid at our wedding. I would have loved for her to meet Emilia.
“After that, I’m not certain. What about you?”

I had almost forgotten about the sad news, with all the happiness of our return to the city proper. But I nodded and made my way into the sitting room to intereact with Emillia better. "Give Joie my sympathies as well." I said softly as I thought about what I would do. "I'm not sure what I'll do, spend a bit of time at court catching up on the goings on probably." I said and shrugged a little. "Connect with family."

“Ah yes, my husband the social butterfly,” I said, smiling affectionately.
I removed my cloak and handed it to a maid. “Is there anyone I should be meeting or getting in contact with?” I asked him. “You know I’m still new at this.”

I chuckled softly at her comment then nuzzled my nose against Emillia's neck. "I'm not sure," I said softly. "No one you need to get in contact with." I replied as I continued to smile at my sweet angel.

“Then I shall make use of my freedom while I have it,” I said, smiling. I moved to where he and Emilia were. Smiling wider, I softly caressed my fingers through his hair as he played with our daughter.
“She loves you so much,” I said softly. “She lights up whenever she sees you.”

I chuckled softly, looking up at Caraf as she ran her hand through my hair; I always enjoyed when she did that. "Ah well, she loves her papa." I said with grin and looked back to Emillia. "And you mama too... isn't that right." I cooed and kissed her cheek.

The room filled with Emilia’s happy sounds. She loved me and I her, but she was Elliot’s little girl.
“Are you two alright for now? I’d like to go take a bath,” I said.

"I think we can manage." I said with a smile and looked to her. "I promise not to let her play with knives or play around the horses." I teased with a wider grin.

I chuckled and then leaned in, kissing his cheek and then leaning further to kiss Emilia’s forehead.
“She will likely be ready for a nap before long,” I said to Elliot as I straightened. “If I am not out by then, you know where to find me.”
Smiling again, I left to their time together and headed up to our rooms.
