Character Played By (the person in your avatar): Liv Tyler
Name: Yvaine L'Envers Shahrizai
Age: 21
Race (Lineage Origin): D'Angeline/Akkadian
Gender: Female
Height: 5'7"
Home Province/Country: Terre d'Ange/Khebbel-im-Akkad
Appearance (1-2 Paragraphs): Yvaine is a mix of her heritage, with the violet of eyes of the L'Envers, the dark hair of the Shahrizai, though not quite so dark as her brother Jove's. The only part of her heritage that does not show is the Akkadian, her features being distinctly D'Angeline. Her skin is fair, flawless, with little color to it as she prefers to stay out of the sun.
Personality (1-2 Paragraphs): Yvaine is a quiet woman, a woman who has spent so many years with her nose stuck in books that she sometimes has trouble relating to people besides her elder brother and sister. Unlike her sister, Zayn, Yvaine has not noticed the opposite sex except in passing, being far too consumed with her love of learning to really bother. Especially in Khebbel-im-Akkad, where she considered all the men brutish and unsophisticated, an attitude passed on to her by her mother.
History (At least 2 detailed Paragraphs): Yvaine was born of mixed heritage: her mother, Shaheen, was a daughter of Valere L'Envers, who had wed the Khalif of Kebbel-im-Akkad. Shaheen left the country as a teenager, heading for Terre d'Ange, where she felt that she belonged. She had the misfortune to fall in love with a a Shahrizai, Aloys. Though outwardly he was different from the men of her home country, behind closed doors it was another story.
In private, Shaheen's submissive upbringing was brought out, feeding Aloys' every twisted fantasy, brought up to take what she was given, no matter how perverse. Though it was Shaheen's nature, she did not wish it for her daughters, and she did whatever she could to make certain of that, no matter how cruel her husband grew. Her children were the only thing that kept her going during this time.
Zayn was born two years after Aloys and Shaheen had wed, then Jove a year later, whom Aloys doted on from birth. Yvaine was practically an afterthought, three years later. Like Zayn, she was born with blue eyes, but also like her sister, they turned quickly to that L'Envers hue, and though her hair darkened, it was never the Shahrizai blue-black.
During childhood, it was hard not to see the abuse dished out by her father, though Yvaine did her best to escape into books and tales and even her own imagination. When Aloys' abuse turned toward her, she would escape into fairytales of her own devising until it was over, and thus did she survive. She worshipped her older sister, Zayn, who always seemed so wise and knowing, but for Jove she felt nothing. He shared his father's cruelty, which she was oft the target for, being the youngest, though she escaped to Zayn whenever possible.
The family was always perfectly appointed in public, knowing the consequences of hinting at the misery behind closed doors. While Zayn discovered her sexuality, Yvaine discovered her love of learning, coming to speak Akkadian as well as D'Angeline, and several other languages besides. She learned foreign cultures and protocols and read books on every subject she could find, begging her father to allow her to take classes at the Academy when they were in the City. It was only with some persuading by her mother that her father relented, though it was obvious that he really did not care one way or the other what she did.
Things went on in this way until Shaheen caught wind of Aloys' plans to sell his daughters' virginities, and finally having had a enough, she fled into the night, leaving Jove behind, having given up on changing him. In Khebbel-im-Akkad, Yvaine became even more introverted, though she dutifully learned the "womanly" arts that Zayn so enjoyed, even if she found them less to her own liking. Studying was more difficult there, but Shaheen made sure that she could keep up with it, in anticipation of the day when they would return to Terre d'Ange.
That day came a mere five years after their arrival, when Yvaine was seventeen, but she begged her mother to allow her to go to Tiberium to study, and Shaheen agreed, the small family parting ways. Though Yvaine missed her mother and sister, she greatly enjoyed her four years in Tiberium. However, there are now things she needs to learn in her homeland, about herself, her family, and that part of her heritage. To that end, she is coming back home, after being away for nine long years. Who knows what she will find upon her return?
