Roleplaying History: None really, this was my first RPG that I can remember, though I always had an interest in my brothers RPing. I did a bit of table top RPing back in the day that I was maybe 11 or 12 then.
How you came to the board: Honestly, I don't really remember how I found it. I remember that I had been researching the book which I had gotten as a birthday gift from my brother. I think I had stumbled onto a Yahoo chat group, which lead me to another yahoo group, which lead me to do more research, which led me here. At that time it was Me, Remo (the guy that started the RPG) and a girl named Bethany; some how though I ended up taking over the role of running the board soon after Remo got accepted into a very prestigious school. After he disappeared the board was quite for a while and I often RPed by myself... and then Valerie came along. Pretty much the rest was history after that.
Favorite character to play: Thats a hard question, mostly because I don't think I could narrow it down to just one. But if I had to pick, I'd have to choose Gratien because he's such a complete and total utter bastard, and yet he seems just charming enough to slide through and escape any real ridicule.
Advice to new players: My advice would have to be, ask lots of questions and don't be afraid to talk to staff.
I think this board is a bit different then a lot of RP sites out there and I think it can be challenging for new players. But if you have a little faith and trust in what your staff and management say, you'll find things can be less challenging. Also don't assume anything. I think thats a good motto to have in life just as much as here.... That and everybody Wang Chung tonight.
Favorites:
- color= Blue most definitely, then purple, green and red.
- food= Thats a hard one too, I love food. I'm a sweet girl more then a salty one... *winkwink nudgenudge*
- song= Probably "Africa" by Toto
- movie= I couldn't say, I have too many... Fear in Loathing in Las Vegas comes to mind... Legand comes to mind... Jurassic Park... All good movies.
- book= The Kushiel's Trilogy is probably at my top and since I've read it more then any other book. But I also loved "A year of living biblically" by AJ Jacobs... and "Number the Stars" which is actually meant for young readers, it was a book I read for class in about grade four. Its about the holocaust and a non-Jewish German family and how they struggled with the moral ups and downs of the Nazi era. Theres a few poignant scenes where the narator (a young girl of 14 with a Jewish best friend) talks about what they went through and how they helped by hiding friends.
An odd fact about you: I was born in Saudi Arabia.
Favorite Jacqueline Carey character (any books): All her Kushiel novels from Dart to Justice. But out of the 3 first I would say I probably enjoyed Dart the best. Out of Legacy I would say that I enjoyed Justice the best. I guess I like a solid beginning and a solid end... lol.
A quote or lyric that sums you up: I don't think I could have one that sums me up entirely, but for my current state of mind I would probably say...
"Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements/Even if it leads no where? Or would it be a waste, even if I knew my place/Should I leave it there?"
What did you have for breakfast today? I had Tim Hortons.
A funny or embarassing story: In my first year at university, my room mate convinced me to go to a hockey game for our local team, wearing T-Shirts with letters on them. It wasn't that I opposed doing it, but it had more to do with the fact I really didn't know the other people we were going with. But I really enjoy hockey, I tend to get into it, so I said I'd go. Anyway, we make the shirts ourselves and when the day comes we go to the arena just down the street from our dorms and find out seats; we've got good seats, we're literally 4th row back from the opposing team's players box.
So, as the game is progressing on, I've had a few beers, and I'm trying to get into the game, but I'm finding it hard as theres no one really cheering or anything. It was like watching TV with 5000 strangers, but I was determined to have a good time. When ever people would cheer I would join in the best I could and the group of us girls even tried to do some chants.
The embarassing moment came when the home team had the visitor's team back into their own corner and one of our guys when after him and the puck. At this point people started cheering and for the first time it looked like the arena was going to get loud and excited. So I sort of stood up a little in my seat... Beer in one hand... other hand cupped ot my mouth and yelled...
"YEAH!! KICK HIS ASS!!!" As loud as I could.
What I didn't realize was that as I was yelling, everyone in the arena had gone silent, and when I sat down the entire section on both sides of us, the section across the, the section on the end and the opposing team as well as all the coaching staff were now staring at me.
Thankfully it wasn't a long incident and everyone when back to what they were doing, though I did have a couple of people laugh, and of course my room mate and all her friends pointed me out as soon as I tried to pretend I hadn't done it.
Announcements
[/i][/center]The board is undergoing quite a few changes of late, please bear with us and make sure to read the following information to keep up to date:
The Drums of War: As you may have read on the board, there is the upcoming plot regarding a war with Menekhet. Any plot ideas pertaining to this war should be posted on The Council of 80 or PM a member of the management.
Parliament: There’s a lot of talk about Parliament on the board, and so we have been considering that Parliament should actually exist, in character. We are working on ways that this might work out and who the members of Parliament would be, so stay tuned for more information!
Floating Thread Rule: As of 04/24/10, players will now be able to inact the "Floating Thread" rule. This means that should a player's character have four threads, but they wish to have a fifth one added; they may contact management and request to have a thread from one active character with unused open threads, transfered to another character of their choosing. Players may have up to 3 floating threads but may only use one extra thread per character. Players can not take 3 threads from 3 other characters and give them to one character.
Rules: In addition to the floating thread rule, a lot of the rules have been changed and/or updated. Please take a look at them again, to familiarize yourself with the changes: Rules
Date Stamps: From now on, players are required to date stamp their posts. This means at the begining of their thread, in italics, the player must write the time frame in which the thread or post is taking place. For example: Evening of Midwinter; Year One of Queen Sabrina's Reign. This should also be done for backposts and backstories as well.
Avatars: Also from now on, when making a new character biography, please include the name of your avatar in the bio, as well as adding it to your list of avatars in the avatar thread.
New board: We’ve added a new board as a place where people can post characters they would like to be created for personal storylines. If you have a storyline in mind and need players, this is the place to post it. Guidelines for posting here are as follows: Rules Also, this adds a new section to the Major/Minor Plots form: Any required or available characters:, which will let people know that you are looking for some characters for your plot.
New Member Groups: We’ve also changed the member groups to better reflect our characters. The new groups are:
- Royal
- Noble
- Peer d’epee
- Peer d’robe
- Aristocrat
- Citizen
- Military
- Priest/Priestess
- Second
- Adept
- Servant of Naamah
For specifics on each of these groups, please see this post: New Member Groups
Please PM management (Kerri or Heather) if your character does not have a member group, or is in the wrong group.
Stickying Threads: All member groups should be able to sticky their threads/posts. If players don’t sticky posts, the board auto-deletes, so keep this in mind!
The Council of 80 - We want to hear your suggestions! If you have any comments or suggestions on any aspect of the board or rp, please post them here: The Council of 80
