Character Played By: Alexis Georgoulis
Name: Angelos Adrastos (born Angelos Takis)
Age: 36
Race (Lineage Origin): Kritian
Gender: Male
Height: 6’2
Home Province/Country: Kriti
Appearance (1-2 Paragraphs): It isn’t surprising that his mother named him Angelos as he is quite handsome especially to his own people. With eyes the colour of burnt amber, hair just as dark, and complexion to match, he wouldn’t likely stand out compared to his fellow Kritians, but the dynamic make up of his ruggedly built form and face, sets him apart. Had he have been in Terre d’Ange, he most likely would have been well received at the Night Court, but as it where he wasn’t, which also makes his face a living map of his tough life. Though does not bare too many lines of age; the manner in which his face is consistently passive shows a man that has had much in the way of heart break.
Personality (1-2 Paragraphs): Angelos is a silent man, even as a child he tended toward the quiet side, but as he grew, so did his reflective nature. He likes to read and can read in Caerdicci, Hellene, Aragonian and D’Angeline, he also speaks all of these languages as well; all self taught.
History (At least 2 detailed Paragraphs): Born to pour farmer parents, in a small village in Kriti; both were young and Angelos’ birth wasn’t heralded as anything but one more mouth to feed by his father, his mother felt other wise. From the moment he was born, he was doted on by his mother to such an extreme that others teased him relentlessly for it. Even as he aged into his early teens he was usually with his mother discussing a manner of things; she taught him to cook and clean, even to sew and wash the clothes.
His father never looked kindly on this relationship; it wasn’t more then five years after Angelos’ birth when they began to have issues conceiving another child. It would seem that Angelos would be nothing but his mama’s boy, and Angelos’ father worried as to what would happen was the boy grew. Makarios Takis was a hard man to please, and he made his dislike of his son’s unmanly ways very known to all that would listen. This made it worse for Angelos, and as a result he often ran away from home. For many years this issue wore on between father and son, when Angelos turned fourteen Makarios decided he had had enough of his family. He accused his wife of being a whore, claiming too that Angelos was not his child, he kicked the pair out, sold the farm and fled the village; the pair was left destitute and with shame, no one would take them in and no one would listen to them.
That was the same year that Angelos and his mother moved across the province to be closer to the capital city of Temenos; that was also the year in which Angelos’ mother got a job as a servant within the walls of the palace of the Archon. Time moved quickly turning that time, and the pair were able to put their lives back together in a fashion; the peace was however marred when a small civil revolt happened in which many of those working or living at the palace were targeted. It was during this time that Angelos’ mother began to get very ill and with in the year she was bed ridding. No one knew what had happened to her, but what they did know was that she was dieing. It was some time after his 17th birthday that his mother did in face die, and left him alone in the world.
Unsure as to what to do next Angelos did the only think he could think of, something that he thought he father would have told him to do; he joined the Archon’s Army. He started out slowly, and not unlike his young years, was often teased about being slower and clumsy. Angelos was about to give up, in truth he was so ready to give up that he had put a noose around his neck and prepared to kill himself; he had even gone so far as to step of the chair. But the Gods were with him that day, and at the same time he was gasping for air, his general entered the room and cut him down. Angelos feared the worse from his commanding officer, but the general was a kind man and asked Angelos why he had tried to kill himself. After a long conversation the general made Angelos promise not to do anything rash and he would help Angelos be a better soldier.
A promise was a promise and by the time Angelos was twenty one not only was he no longer teased, but he was quickly coming into his own. The once skinny, lanky young man had filled out remarkably and yielded a strong, conditioned, superior man. It turned out that he had a natural aptitude for physical labour and drill work. So it was that after so long of being outside looking in, he now belonged some where. It was some time around his twenty-fourth birthday that he was given a special task and moved to the Temple of the Kore; sent to guard the temple as well as the Kore specifically. During this time is when he fell in love with one of the acolytes, a girl named Iokaste; their relationship blossomed quickly and the Kore herself gave her blessings on the couple and little more then three years later the pair were wed and expecting their first child.
Once again the Gods seemed fit to step into Angelos’ life once more, but instead of giving life they took it, thrice fold. It turned out that Iokaste was not with one child but two, so when she went into early labour it was a shock. Angelos watched as his twins were born blue and not breathing, tiny, after Iokaste was slit along the belly to birth them; all three died. Most could say it was this that pushed him over the edge, but some would argue that it was simply a case of the weight that tilted the scale; either way Angelos was a broken man.
Angelos left the city and hid himself for a whole month, when he returned he was court marshaled, but the charges of abandoning his post were dropped when the Kore intervened and explained what had happened. Deciding it was not worth to have him around while he grieved; the army put him on temporary leave till he was better. Near two years past before he came close to being normal again, he began to seek out his life again, and asked to be welcomed back at the Temple of the Kore, they accepted and once more he was put on the post of guarding the Kore.
For most of the last six years he’s remained at the Temple doing his job as best he can, and he is indeed best at his job. He’s well liked by all and he’s a good companion. But his personal issues have made him much more introverted and more likely to listen then talk. Though he is never rude nor mean, its mostly common knowledge about his past so people do their best to either avoid painful subject. On and off he became intimate with other girls that would come to the Temple, but he’s lost his faith in ever having that life again.
Most recently after the birth of Medousa’s twins, he’s been seen wandering around the nursery; Medousa saw this, saw the old hurt in him and asked him if he would consider leaving the military to become the full time personal guard of her children. Without hesitation he replied that he would, and has been ever since. It wasn’t long after this though that Medousa confided in him that the children’s lives had a plot against them, she told him that she felt the hand of the Gods on the situation and knew that she needed to send the children to Terre d’Ange to be with their father. Angelos’ feelings about his own life and the loss of his own twins made it a hard decision to make, and he knew it meant that he’d likely never return to Kriti if Medousa had her way, but his instincts over powered him. Whether it was the instinct to protect the children, or the instinct to trust in the gods no matter how cruel they can be, he’s made up his mind and now sets sail for the City of Elua.
