Name: James Eric de Valois-Burgundy, Duc de Valois and Burgundy (known to most as Jaime)
Age: 38
Gender: Male
Race: D’Angeline
Home Province: L’Agnace (Eluine (Namarrese/Agnacite))
Appearance: Bluish/grey lavender eyes, like those of House Courcel with a bit more grey. Jaime is tall and well-built, with dark blond hair, stained with the sun for all of the hours he spends outdoors training. He is handsome, even for a D'Angeline, and looks younger than his 38 years, even though his life has been hard by D'Angeline standards.
Personality: Jaime is studious, polite, somewhat quiet on first meeting, though he can also be quite gregarious and charming. In his younger days he has been known to have a bit of a wild side to him, and rumors swirl of a perhaps something of a dark side as well. While he has a sense of fun and humor, he also knows when to be serious, and is extremely intelligent and perceptive.
History: Ganelon de la Courcel's first cousin, Yvan, married into a prominent family, for political reasons, though the two did manage to find a comfortable life together and who had one son, Marius de la Courcel (cousin to Rolande de la Courcel). Marius fell in love and married a young noblewoman, Damara Demaric, and they had a son of their own, Tulare, who had designs on young Ysandre before her marriage. Instead, he married for political gain, Emiliane de Thouvais, a woman of high standing. Their daughter, Alissa, married into the Valois family of L’Agnace and had a daughter herself, Valaire, (of Sidonie/Alais’ generation), who married the Comte of Burgundy, Roland, and they had first a son, James Eric, and then four daughters. Though close in blood to the Crown, the family spends less time at Court because they seem to breed ambassadors and have quite a bit of wanderlust in the family. They are all trained in military arts from a young age, even the women, to a lesser extent.
James' father passed away when he was very young, and his mother stricken with an illness that left her bedridden. His sisters were cared for by nurses, but his mother felt that he should be taken care of by a strong male figure, and he was sent to live with his uncle, an ambassador to Aragonia. While in Aragonia, Jaime took to military training at a young age, and his uncle was quite impressed, starting his military career at 16 instead of the usual 18. He quickly proved himself adept at strategy and diplomacy, even as with his sword and arrow skills, all qualities that make a good leader., and by the time he was 18 he was promoted to Eleve Cadet, a rank that most men did not achieve until their early 20's. His superiors saw this and Jaime was placed in positions of responsibility, including becoming Sous-Lieutenant at 21 and Capitane by 24, even as he was being transferred to different countries where the arm of Terre d'Ange needed to reach. At 26 he was appointed Lieutenant Colonel, and it was here that he really proved himself when the Colonel was killed and he was forced to take over in the middle of a battle. He did so well that he was allowed to keep that rank, spending the next three years on the front lines in Khebbel-im-Akkad, eventually earning the rank of General.
For the past few years he has been in Khebbel-im-Akkad, maintaining the Terre d'Ange force there, having proven himself well capable of dealing with the situation there. Jaime is well-liked and respected by those who have followed him, even when he is forced to make hard decisions, which he does not flinch from.
It was finally deemed time for him to come back to Terre d'Ange, to get some experience and make connections on his home soil and to a lesser extent to reconnect with family.
