Name: Dante no Valerian
Age: 29
Height: 5’11”
Race: d’Angeline
Appearance:
Ingrained with seriousness, Dante is a man who is never seen smiling or laughing and always appears to be deep in thought or acting with purpose. A man able to hold in all emotions and facial features, it is impossible to read him. Nothing seems to bother him, cool and collected as he is, he seems to have an unspoken grace and dignity about him in the mere way that he holds himself, even if it is on the end of a leash. His hair is black, but in certain angles of the sun, it gives off a blue hint, not obvious enough to mean anything and normally it is gone with the blink of an eye. People look him over twice, but nothing more. Ever the no-nonsense man, he always dresses in crisp, respectable attire no matter where he goes and no matter what errands he may be running. No matter how small of a matter and it seems to run in every feature of his body, the yielding humbleness to please, but of his OWN choice to do so.
History:
Born between a coupling with a male Valerian adept and his Shahrizai mother, who at the time was going through bumps in her marriage from not being able to conceive with her husband, she found herself impregnated by an adept she had contracted for only one night. She knew in her heart of hearts whose child it was despite the fact that she had bedded her husband during the same time period. When he was born, her husband sense something amiss despite the fact that he did, indeed, look like his mother, something seemed off. He came into the world in the same manner in which he walks his paths every day--quietly, and the doctor almost perceived a problem with this. Growing up in a rigid household, his step father distanced himself, never quite able to pin what the reason was down. Dante had always been a bright boy, ever observant, quickly proving himself to the Shahrizai that was his name, but he was much too docile and obedient. Amongst his cousins that he grew up with, he preferred to take the less aggressive routes out, often being the more mature child by dropping petty, childish issues that he did not care much about, even if it meant forfeiting what was rightfully his. He had never been one for possessions or petty arguments and he was quickly and easily bullied by his cousins though he never paid it much heed. He never seemed BOTHERED by it and was quite silent about such treatments. His step father was quite disturbed by this and finally, his mother confessed when he was eight about having contracted an adept around the time that she had been impregnated. However, there was no way of saying for sure who his father was so his mother and step father were determined to wean such behaviors out of him, they began to encourage him to act with more craft, more dominance, but by nearly his tenth natal they realized their efforts were wasted.
Finally, his mother took the boy to Valerian house, not wanting him to be seen as her own any longer or growing up with her ties, his marque was sold. He grew up under his true father, never knowing the man for what he was, however. He was able to make his marque within an average amount of time, leaving most of his patrons pleased. He did not aim to please when he did his assignations because of his patrons, per se, he did it for himself, for the tip and extra coin for he was not one who saw a problem with doing such things for the added benefits. He is typically silent during assignations, however, even when getting beaten he does not make much noise, as is his way with being a “silent sufferer.” However, he grew into the kind of man who consistently observed people, as was with his Shahrhzai blood he was unable to do anything but. Many in Valerian house cannot help but respect him, for he holds himself with such dignity even in the most humiliating situations, it is something one senses when being around him that in fact, he is not humiliated, that he chooses to be in that situation and could choose to be out of it if he so wished. However, because of his professionalism and the respect that a lot of Valerians feel for him, added to the fact that he likes to help his fellow adepts, he is not one afraid of chastising or scolding them for their faults. He had even been considered for the position of Second of his house, but Trinette knew in her heart that he would not accept. While a man who demands respect and an upholding of rules, he is not one who cares for positions and prefers to be humbly what he is.
A fully marqued adept, he is one of the oldest Valerians of his house and sustains the scars to prove it. However, he is still young, hardy and healthy and sees himself continuing to stay within this house. On the side, he is somewhat of a scholar in his spare time, teaching himself other languages the best he can, while reading great texts. He is not a man of his emotions, but his mind and intellect, believing whole heartedly that mind is definitely over matter. As a Shahrizai, he has the ability to see people’s fault lines, but he doesn’t really do anything with such information other than pocket it away. He finds people interesting, but books and learning moreso. His door is always open to his fellow adepts, for while he is not the most personable man, he is certainly a friendly one in his own way, even if he is not so outgoing. He tends to overanalyze situations, continually reflective of his circumstances, he contents himself with Valerian as his job, seeing himself as being prestigious with the title of a fully marqued adept, he has no discontent with his circumstances as he tries to organize and make a path for his life.
As far as Dante knows about his blood, he is a full Shahrizai as his step father had been one. However, he does not know that his father was a Valerian though he does have speculations.
