Appearance: Busty and voluptuous, Gianna’s olive skin glows in the light. Her hair is long and black, and falls in loose curls down her back. Her eyes are deep pools of brown, and her face has high cheekbones and a ski-jump nose. She stands about 5’6”.
History: The eldest daughter of the very minor Conte de Piadoro, Gianna was about 17 when she entered the happy court of Mario de Pavento. When she was 18, Mario married his first wife, Tessa, and after she died, Mario began to search for a new wife. Gianna, cordial and beautiful, was his choice, and when she was 20, they were married. 9 months later, Gianna gave birth to their daughter, who is now 16. Though they tried, Gianna and Mario were not blessed with any more children, something that pains her very much.
Gianna is every inch the obedient courtier in public, demurring to her husband and always smiling. In private, however, they have a remarkably egalitarian relationship, one in which she can always speak her mind. Bright and intelligent, Gianna often oversees the education of her daughter and stepson. She knows that Mario misses his first wife, but is realistic; after all, she is the Principessa of Pavento, Duchesa della Sicilia.
