I returned to the barracks and spoke with my superior and signed out for the evening, then went to the public baths and cleaned up. I found my best outfit, a pair of black breeches and a green shirt, my worn black boots the only thing that made my appearance unseemly.
I walked through the market and retrieved a bouquet of blue bells and then made my way to the temple. When I arrive I was greated by an accolyte.
"I'm here to see Aimee." I said smiling and the young girl wandered off to find her.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well the day had gone, and it showed when I returned to the Temple. My expression raised a few eyebrows, but nobody questioned me. I was in the storage room off the Infirmary, winding up a roll of gauze bandages, when one of the young acolytes came to tell me that some man was asking for me. I smiled and thanked her, then put the bandages away and went out to greet Pierre. At least, I hoped it was Pierre. I was glad I'd changed to my best set of robes, the ones with white embroidery along the hem and arms, and down the front. I smiled when I saw that it was indeed Pierre, and stepped forward, hands raised, "Hello Messire Legard. I'm so glad you took me up on my invitation." Of course, I kept my words polite and semi-formal, in case any of the other Pirestesses or acolytes were listening. My eyes, however, were sparkling, I was sure, and my smile grew as I drew closer to where Pierre was standing, flowers in hand.

I smiled widely when I saw Aimee appear, she still looked like very much the part of temple prietess, but her robes we much nicer then the ones she had been wearing earlier. As she drew near I drew in a breath, taking her in as she spoke. When she reached me I bowed to her, graceful, which was unlike myself and rose with a grin. "Of course, I'd be a fool not to." I replied as I held out the flowers for her; meager though they were I hoped she liked them. "You look lovely; these are for you."

I smiled when he bowed, and when he stood back up, I inclined my head in thanks. His offering of the pretty bluebells pleased me. It showed that he was thoughtful, and that he had good taste, to match the color of the flowers to my robes. "Why thank you, Pierre." I looked up at him, "Would you excuse me so I can put them in water?"

I nodded, feeling strangely nervous for some reason now. "Yes, of course." I replied, clasping my hands behind my back.

I quickly went and put the pretty flowers in a vase with some water, and put them in my room. It only took me a few minutes, then I returned to Pierre with another smile gracing my face. "Would you like the tour first, or shall we dine?"

"Eating first if you wouldn't mind." I suggested with a smile. "It seems much nicer that way." I added with a little chuckle then turned a little and offered my arm to her. "Shall we?"

I nodded, mentally chiding myself for my thoughtlessness. Of course he was hungry, if he'd been on Guard duty all day. As I looped placed my hand on his arm, I smiled, mentally rerouting my tour plans. Of course, I couldn't take him to the Priest/ess and acolyte quarters, or the few rooms that held patients who had to stay here, but most of the rest of the Temple was opne. I had planned to end with the kitchens and dining area, but now I reversed that, and lead the way to the small area that was set with a long table surrounded by chairs.

"Will there be other's joing us?" I asked curiously as we walked, trying to ignore the wonderful feeling of her holding onto my arm.

I glanced around, then looked back to my companion. "Perhaps. We tend to eat as time allows, and when we're hungry. There isn't a set time, though the kitchen does have a schedule for sending food to any patients that are here."

I nodded as I listened to her explain. "So, if you're father is Camaeline, how did you end up in Marsilikos?" I asked curiously.

I smiled, pleased that he'd expressed curiousity and asked about my family. Before I asnwered, though, I nodded at a pair of empty chairs, "Shall we sit and dine while we talk?"

"Of course." I said as I led her to a chair and pulled it out for her, then pushed it in for her before sitting myself.

His manners continued to please, and after he seated me, then sat, I smiled again and answered his earlier question. "My father is a brother to the father of the current Lady of Marsilikos. Like my uncle, my father also married a lady from Marsilikos, and moved there both to be close to his brother, and so my mother wouldn't have to move." I smiled at the memories, "My brothers, sister and I all spent more than a little time in the Lady's Palace with our cousins while we were growing up."

I smiled at her explaination. "Very interesting." I said softly. "You're cousin to the Duchesse then, I'm surprised you're not running around court." I added with a chuckle. "How did you end up at the temple then?"

I nodded, "Yes, Lessandrie is my cousin." I paused, momentarily sidetracked, "I should go see her soon." Returning to the subject, I smiled as my memories took a different turn. "I've always been the peacemaker in the family, and" here a slight frown crossed my face, "It bothers me very much to see people, or animals, in pain." The frown faded into a smile again, "I was meant to be a Healer. My Lady's blood runs very strong in me."

I smiled a bit more widely at her comments. "I understand then," I replied. "Camael's blood runs true in my veins, there just didn't seem any other place for me then in the army."

I nodded, "It seems to suit you." I smiled and glanced up as an acotlye brought out some very fine white wine, then told us there was fish and rice, and perhaps a salad, to dine on tonight. I smiled and nodded at her, and she went scurrying back to the kitchens. "Tell me about your family," I looked back to Pierre, interested in hearing about his past.

I smiled to the girl who brought us some wine; taking up my glass to sip it before I looked to Aimee. "Well," I began as I placed my glass down. I didn't particularly want to talk about my family, but I felt bad ignoring her question. "I am the oldest of four; two younger brother's and a sister. Christophe is 22; he's a year younger then me. Marie is 19 and Henri is 17." I took up my glass again and took another sip before putting it down and looked at my hands as I toyed with the stem.
"Christophe came to the city a long time ago to become an adept of Valerian House and recently took up with a Shahrizai." I looked at her then. "They're engaged, that is why I'm here in the city. Other then that my life isn't very interesting, I took up with the Camlach guard at a young age and have been doing that since while my brother and sister care for our small estate." I paused and smiled faintly.

I also took a small sip of wine. I normally didn't drink very much, but one glass wouldn't hurt. I smiled encouragingly, but the small hesitation I noticed before he answered told me that perhaps his family was a subject he wasn't fodn of speaking about, so after he told me about his siblings, I switched back to talking atou my family, which had seemed to interest him. "I have two brothers, one older, one younger," I smiled, "You remind me somewhat of them. They also have positions as guards, in Marsilikos. My sister is the oldest, she lives with her husband, who's an Akkadian." I hesitated here, and got momentarily sidetracked. I hadn't heard from Loralie in quite sometime, and I wondered if I should send another letter? Shaking my head, I came back to the subject at hand. "My brothers, and my parents, of course, still live in Marsilikos."

I smiled gently as she spoke of me reminding her of her brothers and then talk about her sister. I was surprised about her sister being married to an Akkadian, but mostly because it wasn't common; though after the war it wasn't a surprise to see marriages between the two countries to help settle the things that had errupted over the years. "How did your sister end up with an Akkadian?" I asked curiously, following my line of thought in hope that the conversation wouldn't lag.

I smiled, more than glad to talk about my brothers and sister. "Love, of course." I giggled and gave a little shrug, "Our parents were none too happy about it at first, but after a while, when they saw how happy he made her, they relented." I nodded and smiled again, "I'm very happy for her, and I have a nephew to spoil when they come to visit." My smile faded a bit, "Which hasn't been for a while. I hope everything is alright with them."

I listed and nodded, sipping my wine as I listened. "Do they live in Akkad-im-Khebbel?" I asked curiously, thinking that it was probably the correct leap.

I smiled, and nodded. "Khebbel-im-Akkad? Yes, they live just outside of Nineveh on my brother-in-law's family estate. His family owns a large shipping fleet." I smiled again, then cleared my throat, a thought that was far from the current subject crossing her mind. "I know this is off subject, but tell me, will you be attending the Midwinter Masque at the Palace?"

I nodded as she spoke, but was a little taken back at her question. I certainly hadn't seen it coming, but it made me smile. "I hadn't thought about it." I said softly. "I work that day, but I managed to pull a morning shift." I took a drink of wine and swallowed. "Why do you ask?" I'm not sure why I asked, considering I probably knew what she was going to say.

I hesitated, thinking parhaps I was being too bold. To be sure, I was usually let the man do the asking in a situation like this, but I felt like taking charge tonight. "Well, I'll be attending, and I thought... perhaps... I would very much like to at least see you there."

I was glad my gamble had paid off. It hadn't been a big worry, who I was going to the Midwinter masque with, but I admitted, at least to myself, that I was attracted to him. "I'm glad. Oh," I gasped and covered my mouth with a hand, "I should have asked if you already were attending with someone."

My smile returned, and I held out my hand, "I'm glad then, that I was brave enough to ask." I glanced over at the two acolytes that now brought our plates and cutlery, and salad bowls. A third younger acolyte brought out dressings and all the other necessary items. Then all three bowed and disappeared. Turning back to Pierre, I cleared my throat. "What are you planning to wear? So I might recognise you?"
