I hadn't been in residence at my family's town house long before one of the chairs in my room had broken. It was unfortunate, it was a lovely piece, but it had been in the house for many years. Most likely it was its time to go and it gave me an excuse to purchase an item that was my taste instead of something that was in fashion some fifty years ago.
Taking my mount into the city I boarded him, and then began to walk about in search of a place that would be suitable for purchasing furniture. As it was, I came upon Dorville Furnishings quite quickly and decided to take a look inside.
I entered in to the building and began to look around at the items they had on display.

I had spent a pleasant time chatting with Vivienne and Luc, and watching Vivienne's reactions to my creations. She'd seemed to like them, and had gone so far as to buy one of the tables I'd made and carved. Sighing, I had just turned to go once more into the back room, when the shop door opened again and in walked another shopper. Here, perhaps, was another who might be interested in my goods.

I looked around before noticing a man standing off toward the back and smiled politely. "Good day." I said as I took a few steps toward him.

I smiled and nodded a greeting. I hadn't seen this man before, but something about him held a slight air of authority. As he stepped closer to me, I perked up, hoping to make another sale. "May I help you, messire?" I glanced over my shoulder, wondering where Luc had gone, then looked back toward the man approaching me.

"Yes, I'm looking for some furniture; a chair in specific." I answered him with a smile as I looked about a little. "Perhaps a set, two chairs and a table to match?"

I nodded, then my smile deepened. "I know of a pair of matching chairs, and it would be easy enough to carve a table to match them." I gave a small bow, "Allow me to introduce myself as Ryahn Debois." I straightened and motioned him toward the back room, while waiting to see if he answered my introduction with one of his own.

"Its a pleasure Ryahn, I am Ghislain de Trevalion." I replied; I made sure to drop off my title, it wasn't something I was used to in the least and I was quite happy to do so. "Please, show me these chairs." I added.

I was surprised when I heard his name, and dropped another slight bow. The Trevalion name was well known, especially to me, since I was a native of Azzalle. The fact that he left off his title of Prince made me curious, but I didn't remark on it. "of course, my Lord. Right this way," I led him the few steps back to the storage room, then let him enter first, and followed after. Motioning off to one side, where the things Luc and I had unloaded a couple of hours ago were sitting. I hoped the two chairs I'd brought with me were what he was looking for. I also hoped, if he found them to be of good enough quality, perhaps he would buy more of my creations in the future. There would be very little that could match the honor of having such an important person buying my furniture.

Only a fool would miss the fact that he recognized my name, then again not much passed within the city without knowledge, and the Trevalion name was almost as old as time itself. Considering my humble up bringing, it was hard to remember that others would hear it as more then just the simple name it was it me. I followed after him and when he gestured I went first into the storage room. When he guided me to a grouping of chairs I smiled and began to nod, noticing a pair that looked perfect. "These are beautiful." I commented as I leaned forward enough to run my hand over the wood. "Did you make these?"

When he leaned over and touched the chair appreciatively, I smiled and nodded, "Thank you. Yes, I did. In fact, I made all the furniture that's right there. The two chairs, the dining table, which is sold already, the small round table, and the bedframe. Oh, and that bench," I pointed to the bench, which was still in it's first stages.

I turned to look at the items he gestured to and began to move toward them. "Very nice." I murmured as I looked over the round table. "I like this one, how much?"

I had to shrug about that. "I'm not really sure. I don't know if Luc has set any prices yet. We worked out a good price for the table, but..." I gave another shrug, then chuckled, "I think he'd probably allow me to set my own price, if you have a suggestion of how much you wanted to pay?"

It was certainly a different tactic for selling one's item, but I simply echoed his shrug and looked at it. I checked joints and searched for cracks; it was a good item and I didn't want to voice a number too low for it. I didn't want to over pay either. "I'll give you 800 gold for it." Deciding that if he thought it was too low we could haggle for a bit over price.

I was surprised, and most definitely pleased. Most of my previous dealings had been more a trade of necessary things, and certainly they had mostly been for smaller items. His named price made me want to smile and nod happily, but I didn't want to seem too eager, so I merely gave a single nod, "That sounds very acceptable." I smiled slightly and offered my hand, then glanced at the chairs. "Were you still interested in the chairs as well?"

I smiled and nodded, happy at the intereaction. "Yes, the chairs as well." I replied. "How much for them?"

I had to think about that for a moment, rubbing my chin in one hand. Looking at the chairs, I tried to think of what a reasonable price would be. The upholstering had to be figured in, since I had paid someone else to do that. After a minute of consideration, I nodded, then looked up, "500 a piece." I hoped he thought that sounded reasonable.

I raised a brow and looked at him for a moment; 1000 gold was a little high for a pair of chair, despite how nice they were. "How about 8oo for the pair." I countered.

I took a moment, seeming to consider. Really, though, I had started high, knowing he would talk me down. Perhaps I was being over-eager, but I soon nodded, accepting his offer. "That sounds good to me." I grinned and held out a hand, so we could shake and seal the deal.

I smiled and reached out with my own hand, shaking his to seal the deal. "Excellent." I said softly. "Now, what about delivery. I'll pay of course."

I was tempoarily unsure what to say. I was sure that Luc and the owner of Dorville's had their own delivery wagon, and there was also the wagon I'd used to bring the things all the way down here from Azzalle. I gave a small shrug, "I believe you should speak to Luc about that." I frowned and looked to the front of the store, still no Luc. Then I turned back, "Or I could always use my own wagon, if you want them immediately."

I shrugged in response. "I am in no hurry, I simply have no way of transporting them myself. What ever is easiest." I said smiling to him.

I nodded, then leaned over to lift the nearest chair. "I can deliver it now in my wagon." I started to carry the chair away, then paused and looked back over my shoulder. "I'm guessing you have a carriage outside?"

"A horse, actually." I replied, as I watched him lift the chair. "Thats not a problem is it?"

I shook my head, "Not at all." I took the chair out to the back of my wagon and set it up inside the box, then went back for the next one. "It will only take me a few minutes to get these loaded."

I finished loading the pieces he'd bought, then went over and stood beside the wagonseat. "Shall we get started then?"

I answered his smile with a grin of my own, then swung up into the wagon seat and took up the reins. "Lead the way, my Lord."
