Name: Olivia nó Valerian
Age: 16
Race (Lineage Origin): d’Angeline (Kusheline & Namarese)
Gender: Female
Height: 5’7”
Home Province/Country: L’Agnace
Appearance: Slender, but curved pleasingly to the eye, Olivia moves with a natural and unthinking grace. She has always been comfortable in her own skin and it shows to everyone who sees her. Her deep mahogany hair has just enough curl to it that it keeps a natural wave. Her eyes are as dark as her hair, but almost always hold a mischievous spark that is echoed with a smile on her full lips.
History: Born to Valerian, Olivia has never known or wanted to know another life. Her mother, Mena, was a Valerian adept as well who conceived Olivia during an assignation with a favorite Kusheline patron. Mena had always wanted a child, hoping to give back to the House that had taken her in as an orphan and given her a life. Mena’s hopes grew when she bore a daughter, praying to Naamah and Kushiel that Olivia would grow to belong at Valerian as well.
Olivia was a curious and mischievous child, always getting into things and causing a fuss. Mena began to fear her daughter would be taken to Orchis, and settled with the idea that at least her daughter would be serving Naamah. When Olivia turned five, her path became clear. She was following her mother around their room as she lit candles, telling Mena about everything she’d learned in class that day. Olivia lingered too long near one candle though and hot wax dripped down onto her arm. She cried out at the pain, jumping away, but just as quickly returned, pressing her hand to the dripping wax and holding it there even as she sobbed in pain.
At ten she was dedicated to the service without hesitation and took eagerly to the new things she was learning. Her curiosity was barely held in check by her teachers and often she had to be reprimanded for wanting to go too far too fast. Having spent her entire life in the Night Court, she is well aware of the other Houses and their cannons and yet she is completely baffled by the idea of pleasure without pain. She is proud of her service and herself, a trait her teachers often murmur will likely make her more eager for humiliation once she has her debut.
Olivia’s life was marred when her mother died in the plague that swept through the City. Now though, she is focused on her upcoming debut and the chance to truly experience what she has been learning about.
