I sat in the kitchen, avoiding my classes for the day as I read a book I wanted to read versus one I had to read. In one hand I had an apple and I leaned on my other arm as I bit, chewed, and read all at the same time.
"Eros." The booming voice of my grand father interrupted my book making me jump in surprise.
"Kushiel, don't do that." I said looking at him in a chiding fashion as he flashed a small smile.
"Forgive me dear," He said as he leaned over and kissed my head. "Are you not supposed to be with your cousins in class with the tutor?" He asked as he say down next to me.
"Yes." I admitted nonplussed, he just shook his head and clucked his tongue. "What?" I asked with a raised brow and a teasing smile.
"You know I'm smarter then the tutor, I don't know why you waste your money on him when you know I could do it for free." He just rolled his eyes and shook his head as I looked back to my book, placing down my apple.
"Anyway..." He began, obviously he had other things to think about since he seemed uninterested in pursuing a lecture when it came to that.
"We had spoken of you and Erebos leaving to go to the City to stay with Anacrasia."
"Erie." I interrupted, still reading my book. I could almost hear him roll his eyes again as he sigh.
"Yes, anyway. Turns out that the Duchesse has traveled away to Camlach with her new fiance."
"Ugh." I grunted looking at him. "She choose a Camaeline?" I asked and furrowed my brows and looked back to my novel. "Might as well marry a barbarian." I shook my head softly.
"Anyway..." Her said for the third time, annoyance creeping into his voice. "She will not be back for some time and will not be in the city for you and Erie to stay with." I looked at him again, a bite sadly.
"But I have spoken with my brother's, wife's niece Sarielle Shahrizai, she's a Baronesse and living in the City with her younger sister. She's offered for you two to stay with her till Ana returns, should that be your desire." I grinned widely.
"Yes please." I said eagerly, knowing that my expression showed everything I was feeling.
"Should I speak to Erie about it?" He asked and I furrowed my brows and shook my head.
"You know how Erie is, he'll do what ever I tell him. Not to worry, he's be alright with it or I'll tell him he'll have to stay here." My frown grew into a smile as my grandfather smiled and shook his head.
"Alright, I'll send word; you and your brother will in 3 days." He rose, leaning into to kiss the top of my head once more and then departed for the room. I couldn't help but grin, I looked out the window, the autumn slowly setting in, and felt elated at the coming days and being some where new.
