Name: Nicola de Montoya
Age: 20
Race (Lineage Origin): Aragonian
Gender: Female
Height: 5’5”
Home Provice/Country: Aragonia
Appearance: Nicola is fair-skinned, with hair the color of deep black leather and eyes so dark one can hardly see the pupils. The contrast between her fair skin and dark features is stunning and she has been known as a great beauty at home in Aragonia. Aside from her looks alone, however, she is exceedingly graceful and strong, most of her time being spent dancing.
History: Nicola was born into poverty, to parents who labored everyday to barely make ends meet. She had five older brothers and sisters, and so the first part of her life was spent scrounging for food and tagging along with older siblings trying to find some sort of work. Ricardo and Marisol de Montoya were good people, but hopelessly poor, their outlook on life was bleak and dismal. As Nicola grew, she found that she was drawn to music, and though she had a fine singing voice, specifically to dance. Whenever she could, she would sneak off to watch street dancers who performed for coin and as such she taught herself some rudimentary steps. There was a man, Julio Romero, who had his own studio where he trained youngsters in Flamenco, with hopes that they would go on to be great performers, as he once was before age and infirmity set in. One day, he happened to see Nicola dancing while she watched some street performers, and though she was only six years old, covered in dirt, and dancing alone, he saw something in her, a spark that he thought could be greatness. He asked around, and as she was a fixture at these performances, it did not take long for him to track down her family. He offered her parents a substantial sum of money to take her away to come train with him. They were reluctant, at first, for she was loved by her entire family, but eventually their great financial need was too pressing to ignore. They accepted the money and Julio took Nicola to live with him above his studio. He had no idea what to do with a little girl, however, and so he engaged a governess, Angelina, to look after Nicola when she wasn’t training, and soon she was comfortable in her new life. She had plenty to eat, clean clothes, and spent most of her days indulging in her greatest passion – dancing the flamenco. As she grew, Julio also had her tutored in various subjects, so that perhaps she might travel someday, performing. His wish came true, and when Nicola was sixteen, she began to tour the country, even being lucky enough to perform before the Rey and Reina. Here she met Eduardo de la Rosa, a performer of unsurpassed skill, who she became friendly with on the tour, though he was injured shortly afterward. It was only some time later that she would meet him again, though he did not perform as often as he had. Recently, Nicola has become bored with simply touring Aragonia and has begun to question whether or not there is more she can do with her life. When Julio passed away, he left her a tidy sum of money, and the studio, and for a time followed in his footsteps, taking students. When word came to her that Eduardo de la Rosa was in Terre d’Ange, and seeking someone to help him teach there, she jumped at the chance, turning her students over to her helper, Eliana. Now, she has come to the City of Elua to help teach the flamenco, and perhaps to inject some excitement into a life that had been beginning to feel quite routine.
