"Weeeeellll...." I said, stretching the word beyond it habitual confines like a singing taunt, "There is a place on Night's Doorstep..." I said, letting him dwindle a little on the rope.
I grinned - I did like teasing him too, and the overall arrangement was much to my taste - the part where we got back to the annoying Dahlia was not the smallest part.

"Tell me, tell me already." I said eagerly. I had gotten back into my energetic self. "Do you expect me to read your mind or something." I cocked my head at her.
I should have known she'd tease me at every opportunity, it seemed to be what she was wont at.

"Just let me show you," I said, standing, and offering him my hand. He felt like my little brother, though he were already towering over me. "Night's doorstep's secrets come with a price, after all," I added, grinning.

I took her around my arm in propriety, only slightly in jest. We made our way down the mountain amongst friendly banter, enjoying each other's company. When we reached the bottom, it was around a little after midday, the square bustling.
"Alright my trickstress, what place did you have in mind?"

“This one,” I said, pointing excitedly to a new place. The sign read “Martinez Sweets” and was illustrated with a candy cane and a heart-shaped praline. “Will that do, you big trickster?” I asked affectionately.
The place was bustling with life, the sun was shining, and we were about to have a grand time. Oh, yes, I did relish those instants.

I answered Shona by giving her a quick squeeze, and then darting into the store. I nearly bowled over an old man, and promptly apologized. Afterward, I just looked around the shop with a dazed look in my eye. So many decisions, I wasn't sure if Chocolate was on the menu today.
In the back of my mind, I had an appiffinay, the Night Court was a lot like this candy store. Everything tasting good, but also different. Sweet butterscotch, harsh cinnimon, cool mint, and warm taffy. Hmmm, what would a Bryony be like....
owning the store mayhap I mused.

I couldn't help but laugh as he left, and ran, and made, as usual, a miniature scandal. More calmly, I followed, and entered in the store a bit later. Already, Larquél was taking stock of the variety, and I followed suit.
I'd already a mind for several goodies, but I was curious to see what he would have. I sneaked up behind him, and tickled his sides, seeking out a little startle.

I think she was reading my mind, because no sooner did I think of jesting on Shona house, did retribution find me in the form of polite tickling. I writhed against it before turning around, and gently grabbing her wrists.
"Hey now, sneaking up on people is myjob." I mused. I swung her around so her back was pressed to me, her arms crossed in front of her. I was tall enough to just rest my chin on the top of her head.
"Alright, lets see. Do we want lots of little goodies, or one big one." I asked pragmatically.

"Must be that I spend too much time with you," I said grumpily, though I didn't mind in the least. I didn't hate being prisoner of Larquel, but it was strange. It seemed it was only yesterday, both of us were babes.
"I think it's all up to the one who does the footwork," I replied practically. "And that would be you, Larq!" I teased.

"Damn right I have good footwork. I brough an arm up, and leaned my elbow on her head, pushing her head down a bit teasing her. With my other hand, I pointed at the shelves.
"Ok, how bout those. Toffe coated chocolates, they look like little pieces of gold, so we can count them out, cause we all know thats what you love to do." Too bad she couldn't see my grinning. Oh well.

"Ooow, that hurts," I protested as my knees gave a little. "Bah, it all tastes the same," I replied in mock indifference. "Let's just get the cheapest ones, alright?"
I didn't really have a tight purse, though I did need to be careful. Of course, he didn't know that.

"Alright, alright." I said. I got off her, so to speak, and walked to the store worker. Giving directions, I got a bag said candies, and the shop keeper threw in an extra bar of chocolate, from the looks of it. I took it in amusement, returning to Shona.
"We got this too," I leaned in to whisper, "Must think were lovers," I mused.

"Think so?" I replied with an inquisitive look. "I'm too old for you, anyways, you flirt," I said teasingly.
I almost asked... he seemed happy for the plausible misunderstanding.

I leaned back, turning her around, and giving her a gentle push. "Yeah, well you look like your too young for me." I said back.
I'd never really thought about Shona in that way, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to, so I pushed the thought out my mind for now.
We left the candy shop, and started walking around the city aimlessly. I popped a candy in my mouth, and handed her the bag.

I took a candy popped it in my mouth. It was very unlady-like, and I didn't really care. "Sho, where are we going necht?" I asked, as I followed Larquel heedlessly.
The square was still as bustling as before, and I grinned at the sugary candy.

"Well, geese, I don't have All the answers." I blurted. I didn't really care, walking was just as fine as sitting around, and it made me think less about the guilty pleasures of sweets.
"The bigger question is what do we talk about." I said, purposefully not looking at her, though smiling.

I finished my candy, and chuckled at his words, slipping myself under his arm companionably. "But our plans to torture Roy no Dahlia, of course," I replied mischievously.

"What's this we business. " I said teasingly, rolling her arm off for the moment. "You already played your part my dear, I got the advice, not I must plan the act to exact detail."
Truth be told, there wasn't a whole lot of detail, but she didn't need to know all my secrets.

"Very well," I replied, lacing my arms behind my back. "Be all secretive if you like, but I will expect a full report," I said on a snotty tone.
"In the meantime, what are the news at Orchis?"

I chucked at her response, and returned my hand. "Of course."
Thinking on her other thought, "Orchis, well, not much. We haven't had any big patrons, mostly we get a lot of sailors, cheer merchants, and more or less few of excepliary status. Those people usually go to perhaps Jasimine, Cereus, Bryony, or mayhap Valerian too it seems. Nothing special at all."

Larquel… We were like siblings, really, playing a game of power, he and I. How amusing.
I looped my arm around his, and smiled more warmly for the little victory he just gave me. “Yes, we get those as well… but most are the wealthy, who have no idea what to do with their money… so we help them decide,” I said with a chuckle. I kissed his cheek impetuously, “Much like you just helped me decide what to spend my winning on, ironically.”
That day, we spent musing on Mont-Nuit, enjoying the sunshine, smiling, eating candies, and mostly, simply being young.
Years later, this would be a day of days in my mind, one that made me cherish memories and friendships alike. Almost ten years later, on a spring night preceding a wedding, I would find myself back, the warm girl who had befriended an Orchis, and let all fickleness behind.
But that, gentle reader, is another story.
