I had to think about it for a minute, then nodded. It sounded only reasonable that I wouldn't be getting the whole price. Dorville's had to make a profit somehow. Nodding again as I looked at the chairs, I wondered if I should have brought the other two. "I have two more chairs for that set. I just didn't have room to bring everything I wanted to." I glanced back at him and grinned. Holding out my hand, I nodded, "It sounds like we might just have ourselves a deal."

I smiled widely and took his hand, shaking it briskly. "I think so! Welcome aboard!" I said with a chuckle. "So when do you think you would be able to move to the City?" I asked as I nodded in the direction of the shop. We could go inside and talk where it was a little warmer.

I hesitated, since I hadn't thought quite that far ahead. "I wasn't sure my furniture would be acceptable, so I only thought to spend a couple of days in the city." I paused and frowned, then turned away for a moment to look for my mother. Since she still wasn't in sight, I turned back to Luc. "I don't have the slightest idea where I would even find us a boarding house, much less a place to stay permanently."

I smiled. "Boarding houses are easy to find, my friend. East end and south end both have them a plenty." I wonderd to myself if Josie would mind letting them stay with us until they got on their feet. I would have to run the idea by her first before offering... it wouldn't do well to have to reneage on it later.

I nodded, "Thanks." Turning to the wagon, I gave it a serious look. "Did you want to unload it now?"

"Sure," I said with a smile, "we can do it together now, if you like."

I nodded, then flipped the canvas the rest of the way back, so we could easily get at the pieces in the wagon box. Climbing up into the wagon, I glanced back at him, "What about the bench? Like I said, it's not near done. I can work on it later today, if I could use a bit of space in your workroom?"

I smiled as he mounted into his truck. "For certain! Bring that down and if you have time and aren't too tired, that would be great," I said, holding my hands out, waiting for the first item to be unloaded

I nodded, and slid the bench out of it's place first, moving it to the back of the wagon so Luc could get ahold of it. "Need help? It's rather heavy."

I nodded as I started to hoist the one end. It ws solidly built, that was for sure. "Yah I think so, I'm strong but I would rather not risk injury," I said with a laugh. "Ready when you are."

I nodded, then hopped back down from the wagon, grabbing the other end and lifting the bench don to follow Luc into the workroom.

I smiled as he picked up the other end and we started to move to the store. I backed us through the front door and maneuvered us through the showroom to the backroom where it could be placed. "That is definitely a solid item," I said, surprisingly a little winded as I set down my side gently onto the floor.

I wasn't bothered much by the weight of the bench. I was the one making it, after all. I smiled over at Luc and shifted my stance, taking a bit more of the weight off his hands. When we made it into the workroom, I sat my end down after Luc let his down, and grinned at him. "Solid oak, tht one is. But it will weigh a bit less when I get done."

I laughed softly as I rubbed my hands after setting it firmly onto the floor. "I should hope so or I would hate to be the one here running the sales and having to lift into someone's wagon," I said with a chuckle. "Gives me a reason to exercise more," I chuckled. "Shall we go get the others?" I asked as I turned towards the door.

I grinned and gave a chuckle, then lightly patted Luc on the back, "I would have thought you were already pretty strong. Working with wood isn't exactly a weak man's occupation."

I laughed softly as he patted me. "I suppose I am not too bad for an 18 year old," I said with a chuckle as we walked to the front and out the door. "What shall we take in next?"

I chuckled as well, then led the way back to the wagon. Once again I climbed up into it, "Here, take this," then handed him one of the chairs. This set of four, of which only two were here, were made of cherry wood, and I rather liked them. After handing him the first chair, I scooted the second one to the back of the wagon and jumped down, then reached up and grabbed it.

I followed him back out and took the chair that he passed to me with a smile. It was much lighter and very easy to carry. "I can take two if you want to use your arms for another item," I offered with a grin.

I shrugged, then handed him the other chair, and went around to lean over the side of the wagon to grasp the top of the table. It was light as well, so I just picked it up and over the side of the wagon and took it inside.

I followed after him with the two chairs, into the store, into the backroom and setting them down. "Are these ones finished pieces?" I asked as I smoothed my hand over a chair.

I nodded as I sat downthe small table. "My mother helped choose the fabric to cover the seat." I motioned down at the table I had carried in. "This was made to match the chairs, but it's not really the table that goes with them. I haven't begun on that yet."

"Ah," I said, "so then what is the original use for this table? Does it have its own matching chairs elsewhere?" I asked.

I glanced down at the table we were talking about, "I planned to make a complete set of furniture. Two small tables like this, the four chairs and a small dining table, a setee, and perhaps a china cabinet."

"Ah lovely," I said with a smile. "That is a great idea. We have found that when complete sets are made for rooms throughout the home, people are more likely to purchase the whole thing to keep the same feel throughout," I explained with a smile.

I nodded, "That makes sense," then turned back toward the door, "Shall we go get the bedstead? It'll take both of us to carry it, since the pieces are so big."

I was eager to get this business taken care of, and relieved that it had turned out so well. For the thirs time today, I climbed up into the wagon and moved to slide the footboard forward, glad when it moved easily enough, grateful for the blanket Mother had suggested I lay it on.

I walked up behind the wagon where he was unloading the items and readied myself, sliding my hands under the edges, gripping them as best I could. I looked up at him and nodded that I was ready, gripping the item firmly.

I pushed the footboard slowly to the end og the wagon, taking my time so Luc culd get a good grip. When it got far enough so that I could jump down and grab the other end, I helped him take it inside, glad it was made of lighter wood than most of the furniture I made.

It was not terribly heavy and I did not labour under the weight of it this time. We carried it inside together, and placed it on a table in the back room.
