The ship ride had been relatively uneventful except for the first day in which I had been out on the prow with Fin and a wave to the side of the ship sent me wabbling. I ended up smacking my forehead on the railing and had a fair cut and bruise because of it. Fin appologized for not being able to catch me, but waved it off, feeling embarassed for the incident and wishing to have it forgotten quickly.
When we arrived at port, we all disembarked for the guards waiting to usher our large caravan to the City of Elua.
"Its beautiful isn't it Ferris." I said taking a deep breath as we all took our first steps on dry land. "Have you ever seen anything like it?" I gazed around, feeling like a stranger despite my own D'Angeline blood.

"It's very beautiful," I replied to Mairin, though loyally I thought to myself, But Alba is still prettier.
I was glad that the rest of our time at sea had been quiet. Fin had put a damper on the charm so that he still grinned but didn't make any more unseemly remarks to Maire. Maire pretended to ignore him, but secretly I thought she liked the attention. It bothered me, but they were both adults. I suppose.
"Does it feel... like home?"

Maire and I had gotten fairly close in the time we had been at sea, she told me about her family, her D'Angeline ancestry (which became something we shared intimately), and her brother already in the City of Elua. Things with Ferris had been a little different, Mairin had elluded to a few things, but she said little much about him, other then that he was to be protected. There was a strange interaction between them that I couldn't put my finger one. Part love between a sister and brother, for I knew they were close, but part some more that made me wonder about deeper feelings. Either way I did my best not to be over baring around Ferris, less charm and more friendship. And with Maire, I simply enjoyed her company with the hope that more time with her would come. Either way, I stood beside and behind Maire as Ferris asked her a question, curious about the response my self.

"I..I don't know." I replied as I looked around, feeling a little strange at Ferris' question. It did and it didn't feel like home and I wondered about the feelings inside me, how they would be reflected in my gift. I looked at Ferris and gave him a little smile before turning my head to look at Fin. "What about you Fin, does it feel like home?"

I stepped forward so that I was standing right next to Mairin and sighed a little as I thought. I let my eyes scan the land, the people, the unfamiliar before looking back to her. "I don't think its the same love. You've more a connection then I, me thinks." I said and then turned my gaze back to the horizon.

Love? I nearly bristled. Even after the boat ride, and getting used to his casual familiarities, I still almost bristled.
"Well, let's be on our way to the City of Elua. Perhaps you'll feel better after seeing Decimus," I said, smiling to Mairin.

My attention moved away from the distant lands we were about to travel, and I turned to look at Ferris. Squinting at the light of the autumn sun I smiled at my distant cousin and near brother and nodded.
"Aye," I said smiling a little wider. "And lets not forget the Queen awaits you." I teased him a little but gave him a smile and turned to look at Fin. "Shall we?"

I smiled, though I tried not to, allowing the corner of my mouth lifted as I looked to Ferris, then turned and looked at Maire before she turned and began to walk.

"The Queen awaits all of us," I retorted, smiling because I had made her smile. "Not just me."

I chuckled and looked to Ferris. "Not I." I said smiling at him. "You two are the Princes remember, I'm just a humble priestess." I chuckled as I looked forward as we walked. All our trunks, horses, and gifts had already been unloaded and we were told to take the road out of the city where a D'Angeline envoy was waiting for us. They would escort us formal into the city and act as our protection, though I was sure Ferris and Fin needed little protection, and the fact that I was indeed no one special made us even less a threat. But alas, that was how they did it here, and I had told Eideann we would oblige the Queen's friendly offer. I wanted to look through the small port city more, especially since the "small" city was actually quite large in my opinion. Sadly though we hadn't the time, I just promised myself we would have to take the time on the return trip...If there is a return trip....A little voice echoed through my head and I felt my gift strong here in Terre d'Ange, depsite being so far from my mystic Alba.

"Uh, hold on there. I object." I said raising my hand in the air in a haulting fashion. "I am barely a Prince," My gaze went from Maire to Ferris and I chuckled. "You're the Queens kin." I gave him a teasing grin.

"Oh no. You two are not getting out of this," I told them. "You are both coming with me while they parade us through the City like we're important, and you're both coming to the fete that my mother told me they were bound to hold. There is no way you're abandoning me to that."

I laughed unable to help myself at Ferris' discomfort in the idea that we would abandon him as he said. Swaying toward him I bumped into him a little as we walked and then looped my arm through his. "Not to worry." I said with a little grin as I looked at him. "I'll be there for you."

She came over and bumped into me teasingly, causing me to smile. "Good," I told her. "I'll need you."

I had to blush a little as I looked at Ferris, his words causing a stir in me. For a moment I pretended that I was in a world where his words meant something different then I was sure they did. But instead I just smiled more broadly and turned my head to look forward again. "I'm sure it won't be that bad anyway, and I've heard that Queen Sabrina is really nice." I shrugged and then looked back and forth between Fin and Ferris to see if they had anything to offer.

There it was, that moment again, I'd only seen a few but man had to have been blind to not notice the way she looked at him; Ferris was either blind, or uninterested. I had to admit that it was a bit annoying, I liked Mairin quite a bit, but she'd always tended to become shy and uninterested other then causual flirtation. I tried to push the thoughts aside though, it wouldn't matter much, soon I'd be in the City of Angels where I would find girls much more interested in me. "I've heard that too." I answered. "I've heard she's very young though too, very untested. My aunt says she things that Sabrina will let most of her Ruskovian husband-to-be do most of the work." I looked at the pair then away. "She says there are many within court that worry about the state of the nation should the Ruskovians take too much hold on the throne."

I turned to look at Fin as he spoke, my mouth a little agape as I looked at him with a smile; his words surprised me. "Well, I never would have thought you had such interest in politics Fin." I said, partly teasing him.

I laughed and moved closer toward her, my arm drapping casually over her shoulder. "I'm insulted Maire," I said with mocking seriousness and then gave her a grin. "I'm not just a pretty face and warm body." I teased and then bounced my brows playfully at her.

I laughed and leaned against Fin as we walked, glancing up at him and shaking my head as my hand reached up and held onto the arm that drapped over my shoulder. "I'll be sure to keep that in mind when you're plying your pretty face and trying to climb into bed with me." I teased, wrinkling my nose as I looked at him.

I laughed, curling my arm so that it playfully choked her under the chin and then released her, shoving her at the shoulder gently. "I never said that," I said chuckling still. "Just that some find me interesting, and amusing for reasons other then my looks."

She looked at me after my comment, and something shifted. If Fin hadn't been there, maybe... Don't even think it Ferris.
But the point was moot, for Fin butted in, stealing her away with jests and and arm around her shoulder. I nearly scowled, and looked off into the distance, trying to control my features.

I chuckled softly. "Well I personally don't know how anyone could not find your face amusing," I said as I looked to him with a big grin. "Its so ugly any one would laugh!" I burst out as I looked at him. There was a look in his eyes and I knew what it meant, run. So I did, laughing as I skirted down the road before he could get me.

That little brat! She must have seen the look on my face because she took of and tore down the warn lane; laughing I followed after, running to try to catch up to her. When I did I jumped at her, rolling as I tackled her and we both landed on the ground, my arms around her pinning me to her as she lay on my chest. "Take it back, I'm beautiful!" I said as I tickled her sides as best I could while keeping her captured.

I laughed wildy as he held be, turning me side to side as he tickled me; I kicked and thrashed trying to get free as I laughed and laughed. "You brute!" I cried out as I laughed; though I was certainly aware of how nice it was to have his arms around me, how warm and comfortable he felt. I thought about how I had thought about Ferris putting his arms around me, but remember that that would never be. May hap it was time to stop waisting idle fantasies on some one that wasn't interested, and focus on some one that was.

They ran off, laughing all the way, and it was too much. I scowled, not caring who saw, and walked to catch up to them on stiff legs. I didn't know why it bothered me so. Fin was a nice enough person, really. And Mairin was playing at being interested. She was a grown woman, she could make her own choices.
Then why was I being so protective of her?
By the time I had caught up with them, I had talked myself out of most of my bad mood, to the point where I could hide my scowl once more. "Are you two coming, or should we send a rider ahead to tell the Queen that we've been sidetracked and won't be visiting after all?"

I noted a certain moodiness in Ferris and decided that it was best not to push my luck, so I released Mairin and stood up. "Yes sir!" I said with a strict soldiers salute and then grinned and went toward him. When I reached up I wrapped an arm around his shoulder. "I'd hate to be side tracked, think of all that beautiful tail we'll be getting once we reach the city." I spoke low so that the conversation was mostly between us, but I was sure Maire could hear too. "Just think, those girls will be throwing themselves at us!" I laughed and then stepped back enough to clap him on the back.

There was something in Ferris' tone that set me off, and I wanted to be mad at him despite the fact I truly had no reason to be. When Fin released me I sat there for a moment, watching Fin walk over to Ferris and begin talking to him I rose slowly and brushed myself off. I reminded myself that there was no reason to be mad at Ferris, and by all accounts, despite what he had said and how he said it, he was right. I began walking again, moving past Ferris and Fin as I continued on.

Mairin was mad at me now, going and walking in front of us. Fine, I wasn't going to stop her.
"Yeah, all that beautiful tail," I said, my eyes caught by the way Maire's hips were swaying with annoyance beneath her gown. "You're planning on taking advantage of that?" I asked Fin, wondering honestly. I had never been with a woman.

I watched where Ferris' eyes went to and knew he was looking at Mairin. It stung, partly because it made me wonder if he had feelings for her in return. But I also knew that love and lust were too different things and I didn't know her well enough to know if I loved her. Did I want her? Oh yes, but I was also man enough to know that Ferris would have rights to her hand should he choose it. I did chuckle though, letting Mairin get a little further ahead as I spoke, my arm going around his shoulders once more. "Do I plan on taking advantage of that?" I asked rhetorically, keeping my voice low, as I gestured to Mairin's back and then looked at Ferris before chuckling, shaking my head no. "But aye brother," I added looking at him with sheer joy. "They say that D'Angeline women are more beautiful then the stars!" I reached my hand to the sky and looked up as I did before looking back at him. "And loose, completely willing to please." I grinned like a fool. "Dagda mor Ferris... the Night Court? Are you seriously going to stand there and tell me that you're not the tiniest bit interested in seeing what those girls can do?!" I exclaimed as I released his shoulders and turned in toward him. Others from our convoy started to catch up to us, men on horse back began to stride past us.

He took my words differently than I meant them, and I shifted a little uncomfortably to think that he believed that I was after Mairin. But then he shook his head, and a little knot of tension came undone deep in my chest.
"Well, the Night Court does sound fantastical. I'm interested, I just... I'm not sure if I'll partake," I admitted to him, keeping my voice down as our men caught up with us.
