Terms and Definitions[/b]
- Abeyante - Obedient kneeling position in the Night Court. This is one of the first things a child will learn in the Night Court.
- Age of Consent- When a member of D'Angeline society reaches 16.
- Age of Majority- When a member of D'Angeline society reaches 18 and considered adults. This is the age at which title may be passed to an heir. They are also able to travel unaccompanied, live on their own or marry.
- Alban- One who hails from Alba
- Anguisette - A mortal who is marked by the angel Kushiel as his own by the prick of his dart.
The chosen is born with a scarlet dot in the iris in one of the eyes. - Aragonian- One house origin is Aragonia
- Assignation- A contract between a peer and adept (or two adepts) that requires a written contract and fee
- Cassiline Brotherhood - A sort of monestary. Young boys, most of the time the middle sons, are send to the Brotherhood to learn the ways of the Perfect Companion of Elua, Cassiel, who was tue and loyal.
To honor Cassiel, boys learn to meditate and how to fight with weapons like daggers and swords.
Cassilines are trained to serve as bodyguards. For instance, Cassiline Brothers traditionally protect the members of the royal family.
Their most important rule is to protect and serve. They can't break this rule, else they will be cast out by the Prefect. They also live celibate, so this means they aren't allowed to have sex.
The Brotherhood is very strict and sober. They usually wear boring colors(dove grey for instance).
The armor they a Cassiline wears excist of metal vambraces. At the hips, the cassline caries his daggers and at his back a longsword. They can only kill with daggers. They aren't allowed to use the sword, which is only for defence. - Chirurgeon- Surgeon, a medical person most often from Eisande
- D'Angeline - You are a D'Angeline when you're a scion of the founders(Elua and his Angels)and inhabitant of Terre D'Ange
- Dalriada- Ancient peoples from Alba originally of Eiran descent
- Dowayne - Head of a House in the Night Court
- Didikani - Hyacinthe was a half-breed. His mother was Tsingano and his father D'Angeline
- Dromonde- Among the Tsingani, some women(and their children) are gifted with the dromonde, which means one can look in the past and in the future
- Eiran- One who comes from Eire
- Gadje - Foreign, not Tsingano, term used by Tsingani
- Kumpania - Travel-group of Tsingano's
- Marque - The tattoo on the back of a Servant of Naamah
- Marquist- Those that do marques to Adepts of the Night Court
- Prefect- The head of the Cassiline Brotherhood
- Terminus- Cassiline: the word means something like 'final stage' or 'last stage'. A Cassiline Brother will perform the terminus, meaning killing himself, and the one he is defending, standing in a special position
- Tsingano- Travellers and nomads
- Uisghe- Alban alcohol also known as whiskey.
- Vrajna- A term meaning forbidden, used by Tsingani
