"Ah," I said with a smile, "I think it will be nice. So long as I can stop myself from blushing around beautiful women," I said witha chuckle and the light shake of my head.

I grinned. "Well, I might be able to help you out with that," I said, thinking of a conversation Mala and I'd had the day my siblings arrived. "A little anyway."

I smiled then furrowed my brow inquisitively. "Are you going to teach me how to be a lady killer?" I asked with a chuckle. "Because I fear I may be as hopeless in that as I was in handling a sword." I felt safer jooking with my shortcomings with Christophe because I didn't think that he would think me less a man for it.

I shook my head with a smile. "Oh no, not me. But I would be more than happy to arrange for you to spend some time with a Servant who might," I offered. "You don't have to give me an answer right now, but I firmly believe that it's an experience that every man should have at least once in his life."

"I..." I said softly, stuttering again, "...I... well... I thank you Christophe... but for one... I wouldn't even know what House to visit, and ... I've never.. you see... me and women...," there was no easy way to go about saying what I wanted to say. My hand coursed through my wheat blonde locks as I sighed. "Thank you brother."

"You too?" I asked with a raised brow. Somehow I wasn't nearly as surprised as when I had gotten the news from Marie. Henri always had been the shy one. "I am going to smack Pierre the next time I see him. He is not allowed to be the only one in your house having fun."

I laughed, his words easing my tension. "Well, for me it wasn't really Pierre stopping me. It's just I haven't had the time. Where am I going to meet girls when I'm elbows deep in soil?"

"I seem to remember the neighbours having appropriately aged daughters," I said with a lopsided smile.

I laughed lightly, shrugging. "And the elbows deep in soil part? I should think a girl might not be thinking 'oh he is utterly becoming crusted in mud and smelling of the earth,' and should such a female exist, I would marry her forthwith!"

I chuckled and shook my head. I knew that the village often held gatherings were he could be more than presentable if he wished, but Henri had never been so inclined. "One day you'll find her," I said with a smile.

"I`ve no doubt. Everyone finds love, in some way, shape or form. And I am not in any rush. With you getting married, pressure will be off the rest of us for a while, or at least me, being so far down the line," I said with a laugh, teasing him.

"It's not you under pressure right now, it's definitely Pierre. A younger brother who's about to be married and have a child? Unless I miss my guess, his manhood won't stand for it," I said with a grin. "You're safe for a while yet."

My eyes widened for a moment. "You mean... Malabelle is with child?" I asked, excited and astonished at the same time.

I almost smiled at his assumption. "Not exactly. I was with a woman before Mala and I were official. She asked me to father her child. Soon you'll have a little niece or nephew."

I raised my brows, a little confused, and felt my cheeks heat at my ignorance. "I am sorry... I don't mean to pry but.. how will that work now that you are to be wed?" I asked sheepishly.

"No it's alright, I don't wish to hide anything from you Henri," I said. "Mala and Soleil have come to a truce of sorts. Mala won't harm the child, and Soleil won't try to steal me from my fiancée." My smile was wry.

I laughed at his reply. "The way you and Malabelle look at each other," I said with a smile of my own, "I don't think the world splitting could part you two. But... if I might be so bold as to ask... what had happened with Soleil?" I asked with wide eyes. His life was so interesting... and confusing. "And... who will the baby call mother?"

"Soleil will be Mama, and Mala will simply be Mala I think," I replied. "As for the story... Soleil wanted an heir without the messiness of finding a consort or husband first, so she contracted me. I had met Mala by then, but we'd had a disagreement, and I never thought that I would see her again. So I jumped on at the opportunity with Soleil."

"Ah," I said with a smile. "I am glad that you two made up. Was Mala sad when you told her?" I asked, shifting a bit where we sat to sit cross-legged.

"Sad? Well she might have been. But what I saw was the anger and jealousy," I said wryly.

"Ah," I said softly. "Does she not show you when she is sad?" I asked, innocently, though I realised after how prying I was being. "Really... if I am asking things I ought not..." I said trailing off.

"No, it's alright Henri," I said with a soft smile. "Mala... is a complex woman. She's never sad without fighting against it. If I've upset her in some way, it comes across as anger. Or depression."

I frowned softly. "And when you are upset... how do you show it?" I asked. I had seen him upset at Pierre, but a squabble between estranged brothers was far different than a fight between lovers.

My brows furrowed as I thought about it. I wasn't used to describing myself. "I suppose that I tend to throw a lot of energy into something completely unrelated. Usually something physical, like sword practice, or garden. Something to burn off the negative emotions."

I nodded with a smile. "So when is she due? Do we get to be a part of the baby's life too?" I asked, excited. "Or would that be... overstepping the family barrier?" I asked. I was so used to these things, knew nothing about them really. It was hard enough understanding my immediate family as opposed to this vastly extending one.

"Well, Soleil's due any day now. And I want to be a major figure in my child's life. Mala doesn't want children, so this little girl or boy is going to be my only chance," I said earnestly, knowing that Henri of all people would understand.
"And if you want to be an uncle, that is fine by me," I added with a smile.

I smiled, understanding. "I would be honoured, and I will pamper and spoil the little boy or girl as much as I can... though most likely with simpler things," I said with a laugh, getting excited. I reached forward and patted Christophe solidly on the shoulder. "I am so proud of you brother. You... I think you will do a great job."

I laughed. "I sure hope so. Like I said, I only have one chance. I really don't want to mess it up. Though with an uncle like you, it'll be a lot easier," I said with a grin.

I smiled proudly at his words. "Thank you, Christophe. I won't let you down," I quipped, determined already. "Though you never know, Mala could change her mind one day and wish a child of her own."

"Perhaps. But she can be rather stubborn," I said with a chuckle. Then I glanced up at the sun, and the growing number of others come for prayer. "Shall we make our offering, and then go for lunch?" I suggested.
