Dear my love,
How I look forward to celebrating with you! It has been so long since I saw you that I fear I will not be able to recall the glow of your cheeks, nor the sparkle of your eyes before long.
With the Coronation fete upon us, we will be free to spend another glorious night together. I tremble at the thought. Say you will shop with me, as I could not bear to wear something that you disliked.
My precious, all my thoughts are of you. I have missed you so, and I await with great impatience the day of our reunion. All my love,
Maeve

I returned to my room after a day's chores to find an adept outside my door. "What is it?" I asked.
"You have a gift," he said. "If you would follow me to the front of the house, I will procure it for you."
Curiously, I followed him down the hall to the door. A servant in Gentian livery was there, holding several thick boxes, on top of which sat a longer thinner one. Stacked even higher than that was a letter whose perfume reached my nose familiarly, and a smaller, wrapped package. "By the gods above," I breathed, fumbling for a coin to give the servant. "Thank you," I said, taking the stack. As quickly as I could, I returned to my room.
Breathlessly, I set the boxes on my bed and tore open the letter eagerly. At her words my eyes filled with tears. I could offer her nothing, and she gave me everything. Slowly, more carefully, I opened the smallest package. A small jewel box, studded with emeralds, fell into my hands. Carefully, I walked to my dressing table and placed it there lovingly. I'd been keeping my few adornments in a paper box, but now I took them and placed them in my new jewel box.
Returning to my bed, I opened the thinnest box. In it was a single long stemmed white rose. Laying it down carefully, I opened the first big box. A dozen red roses greeted me, and another dozen, and another dozen, until it seemed my bed would overflow with roses. Laughing, I opened the door to my room and called out, "Will someone please fill ten vases with water?" A passing young adept looked curiously at me, but moved to have the request filled.
Still laughing, I raced to my desk to reply.
My Precious,
You have turned my room into a garden with your gift, and the air is filled with the scent of roses and you. I only regret that I can give you nothing in return, only my deepest love and affection.
Let us spend that celebration day together both on the steps of your house, and in Night's Doorstep, so we can look our best for the Coronation fete. Two days seems an eternity, but I will bear it.
Love from your Maeve
At that moment, there was a knock on my door, and five young adepts stood there, vases in hands. Opening the door to let them in, I requested that they place the vases all around the room, and please send this letter to Gentian house. Bemusedly, they did. Once they had gone, I placed the roses in the vases, placing the white one in the vases nearest to the head of my bed. Laughing, I flopped onto the bed and hugged myself. Two days couldn't pass quickly enough.
