I had been here and there through out the weeks, fetes at some places, lunches with family friends that wanted to know how I was. Endless amounts of family obligations, endless teas that made me exhausted to talk about some one else's daughter that they were trying to marry off to me. All the while, I sit there, stuttering and the mothers trying hard not to balk at my speech, the daughters either trying not to laugh, or staring in disgust.
I was sick of it, so I rode my blood bay gelding into the city proper and stabled him before walking to Armands to look for new books. I entered, the familiar bell over the door announcing my entrance. I went straight to the back and began to search along the wall for books I wanted.

The mourning period was over, but I'd been having so much trouble just getting out of bed in the morning. With Gregoire gone, it was as though my world had ended. Avrielle was too busy to visit, so I spent most days stroking my growing stomach and praying for a healthy son.
Finally, my nurse couldn't stand it anymore. "You must get out of the house, my lady," she insisted. "Here, I'll have the driver take you to Armand's, and you can pick out a book to read to the babe."
And so here I was. I entered the store with my five-months-belly before me, looking about for the children's books.

The chime over the door rang and I turned to see a woman enter, swollen with child. I smiled softly to her and then turned back to the book I had been thumbing through.

There was a nobleman already in the store, and when he smiled at me, I smiled back. I made my way to a section near his. "Good day, my lord," I said.

I smiled, turning to her and bowing. "Good day my lady." I said softly as I righted myself.

I swallowed a protest at "my lady" and instead smiled pleasantly. "How are you today, my lord...?"
