I had walked into the townhome, calling out Josie's name, but getting no response. Shrugging, I moved to the dining area after closing the front door. There, in the middle of the table, was a small square of what looked to be paper. As I got closer, picking it up and turning it over in my hands, I saw it was an envelope with my name scrawled on the front. Opening it slowly, wondering whether it were word from home, or mayhap a little anonymous love tletter, the latter making me smile from ear to ear, I started reading it.
"Dear Luc," I read outloud, and then mumbled under my breath the rest of the missive.
"Huh," I muttered to myself, placing the envelope on the table. It was from home, alright, but not from mother or father, or any of my the boys. It was from a friend, Marc. An invitation... to celebrate Sophine's natality. I had never met her, but I knew her brother, Marc. He stated, in the invitation, that he would be off soon, to explore somewhere other than Terre D'Ange, and would be in the City to celebrate his sister's birthday. I was invited, and could bring one guest.
I knew naught about what to get a girl on her birthday, especially a young one who I never had the pleasure of aquainting myself with, but I knew who would. Smiling I sat, waiting for Josie to return home so that I may put this to her exdprtise and see if she would come along. I hadn't been to a fete yet, being rather newly arrived myself. My lips quirked into a playful grin. This was shaping up to be a very interesting day.
